At the midnight hour, when 2011 fades into history ….

I imagine that in bars, clubs and living rooms all over the country — all over the world, for that matter — various versions of this much-loved song will be playing as the clock draws nigh to the midnight hour tomorrow. However, I don’t think any version will outrock this one by the Blues Boy hisself, Mr. BB King, who by the way graces the historic Fox Theater tonight. Don’t know if tickets are still available, but if you haven’t seen him in person, neither you nor Mr. King are getting any younger.

Enjoy, and happy new year, y’all.

Yeah RC and Taxpayer, I’m with you guys.

The nerve!

I’m beginning to think we are just pawns and are being callously used to further Jay’s nefarious mission of spreading hack journalism around the globe.

Seriously, good job, JB.

And having not tuned in for over three years, I had forgotten just how useless the Corporatist News Network has become.

Actually, if CNN had the sense of a pissant (which they don’t) they’d have our Fearless Leader on at least once a week to talk about “what America is talking about.” Here on our cyber front porch you get a real good idea. Anything from the American invlovement in the Middle East, the latest political foolishness, abortion, climate change, the best way to fix possum, personal vendetta cat fights, and, oh yeah, to posted topique du jour.

He could do a recap of the week meanderings and, might, just might get a smile down from Lewis Grizzard.

Brian can bat, but can he consistently catch a knuckleball?? I’d give Brian an edge if he had been the primary catcher for the Glavine-Smoltz-Maddox firm through their run, however, he’d have to show me that he can sit behind the plate with a knuckler on the mound before he passes Bruce. It ain’t easy catching a knuckleball.

“If Turner could change something about CNN today, he would:

put more emphasis on the environment. We had an environmental unit with about 18 people and after I was let go, they disbanded that unit and they just cover the environment with the regular reporters, which is a good job but not as good if they were concentrating on it. I would like to see more international news and more — a little more serious, less yellow journalism. A little less who shot who”

I figured they may be quiet over the looming elephant in the room where Obama is going to have to ask for another 1.2 Trillion to be added to the debt ceiling. Can’t wait to read Jay’s column on how necessary it is to put more debt on the little backs of our children. And of course the bevy of excuses as to how another 1.2 trillion in additional debt 3 years into Obama is really W’s fault. I saw an interesting clip on Obama yesterday on the campaign trail criticizing Bush over the debt, calling it immoral, asking about how he could pile debt onto our children’s backs. Oh but the irony of that clip. Truly ironical.

And for those who say Obama’s at fault for the price of gas AND he is anti-business, here’s a sledgehammer to break down that wall…

http://www.ajc.com/business/in-a-first-gas-1282017.html

In a first, gas and other fuels are top US export

NEW YORK — For the first time, the top export of the United States, the world’s biggest gas guzzler, is — wait for it — fuel.

Measured in dollars, the nation is on pace this year to ship more gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel than any other single export, according to U.S. Census data going back to 1990. It will also be the first year in more than 60 that America has been a net exporter of these fuels.

Just how big of a shift is this? A decade ago, fuel wasn’t even among the top 25 exports. And for the last five years, America’s top export was aircraft.

The trend is significant because for decades the U.S. has relied on huge imports of fuel from Europe in order to meet demand. It only reinforced the image of America as an energy hog. And up until a few years ago, whenever gasoline prices climbed, there were complaints in Congress that U.S. refiners were not growing quickly enough to satisfy domestic demand; that controversy would appear to be over.

[...]

There’s at least one domestic downside to America’s growing role as a fuel exporter. Experts say the trend helps explain why U.S. motorists are paying more for gasoline. The more fuel that’s sent overseas, the less of a supply cushion there is at home.

Gasoline supplies are being exported to the highest bidder, says Tom Kloza, chief oil analyst at Oil Price Information Service. “It’s a world market,” he says.

Refining companies won’t say how much they make by selling fuel overseas. But analysts say those sales are likely generating higher profits per gallon than they would have generated in the U.S. Otherwise, they wouldn’t occur.

There are a LOT of things currently missing from the Constitution.

That’s the problem when the courts prostitute it for political goals.

It means what it meant when it was written ……….. pure and simple.

If you want to change it (even for good) ………… amend it.

George Washington warned us best when he said:

“If in the opinion of the People, the distribution or modification of the Constitutional powers be in any particular wrong, let it be corrected by an amendment in the way which the Constitution designates. But let there be no change by usurpation; for though this, in one instance, may be the instrument of good, it is the customary weapon by which free governments are destroyed.”

Take time tomorrow if you can to read Washington’s farewell address to the nation. It is extraordinary in its scope. None of us would agree with every part but its wisdom is awe inspiring.

The below site has the entire address, an outline and a vocabulary of certain words of that age:

I call particular attention to a portion of the outline below:

VI. Religion and Morality.
A. Are “indispensable supports” for “political prosperity.”
B. Are the “firmest props of the duties of Men and Country.”
C. The oaths in our courts would be useless without “the sense of religious obligation.”
D. “And let us with caution indulge the supposition, that morality can be maintained without religion.”
E. “Reason and experience both forbid us to expect, that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle.”

A little number to get the party crowd started. And remember to drink responsibly. Never mix Oreos and cough syrup with the good stuff.

Well, Happy New Year everybody and especially to josef and everybody in Mississippi. And Sister Dusty too. I plan to be a kinder gentler Redneck in 2012.

Up here at Billy Bob’s we don’t make a big deal at midnight. We just make sure we get a new PBR and guzzle it a little when the New Year comes along. Then we all play Dodge the Cops on the way home. You know, those old biddies at Mothers Against Drunk Driving sure ruint a great tradition. Use to be you could hold a can of suds between your knees on the way home and stay liquid a little till you get there. Now that’s gone, gone with the wind. What a tradegy!

So the bottom line is …………. George Washington – someone who was intelligent enough to help give us this great Constitution is ignored when it comes to what will keep us a great nation.

That truly is an amazing stance to take ………… but it doesn’t surprise me.

Well, it’s been real and it’s been fun but it ain’t been real fun. My hope for the new year is that all you serial posters will change your screen name to make me think I’m reading some new points of view. Of course, as Jesus said, you will be known by your actions (or in this case, your words) but I will always wonder, won’t I. Is that who I think it is? Is it so-and-so? It would be a nice game to play.

Anyway, you’ve all been great. Have a great night, a great year, a great life! And just say “no” to drunk dialing and drunk posting.
