Why anyone would ever want to be or remain a Border Patrol Agent is beyond me. This is out of control ………………. !
Headline: “U.S. border agent jailed for improper arrest of suspected drug smuggler”
“The allegations against Diaz, 31, a seven-year veteran of the Border Patrol, initially were investigated by Homeland Security’s Office of Inspector General and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Office of Professional Responsibility, which cleared the agent of any wrongdoing.
But the Internal Affairs Division at U.S. Customs and Border Protection ruled differently nearly a year later and, ultimately, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas brought charges.”

Mick … I understand what you’re saying. That part about “your side” ? I was for Hillary. Going back to her campaign you will recall that her and her husband said Obama was nowhere near ready.
Since it looks as if Hillary will not be challenging Obama in 2012, and for some odd reason no other democrat will either, I will be going for Romney. I choose Romney for basically the same reason you will choose Obama. Obama got everything he wanted until the American public said “enough”.
I believe once Obama is up against (I hope) Romney, and he is peppered with questions on his record, he will be done. I admit I would rather have Obama than Herman Cain or Rick Perry, or even that Bachman nut.

Just thought of another corollary to “Coulter calling you skinny” and “Bookman calling you a lazy writer.”
Obama, (who actually is saying) “Republicans don’t have a jobs plan”.
We’re down to teachers, cops and firefighters. What a straw-man argument.
Today he said some tax on millionaires would pay for 400,000 jobs–just $500 from each mill would do this. This figure is for “saved jobs” a number he can fudge–probably already has–and a number that won’t come back to haunt him before he crashes and burns next year anyway.

bman @ 1035,
I think your post above is extremely flawed. There is a great chasm between Obama and the Republicans. Whoever wins the Republican primary is going to the White House, I believe, as do you.
That said,no reasoned individual can deny that Mitt Romney is much much much closer to Perry, Cain and the others than he is to Obama. What you seem to be arguing is that you will ignore the substance of the campaign and decide based on what?, what the media says about the candidates? the smoothness of personality? how they look on TV?
I’m curious to know.

getalive @ 1049,
The GOP since the collapse has had exactly ten months of power in the House only, while Obama and the Dems have had two years of absolute control–even a the very rare and unusual filibuster-proof control of the Senate.
No reasonable person can deny that the Republicans had zero power at this time, and no reasonable person can deny that it was Democrats in their state of absolute power, who at that time, voted not to raise taxes–taxes they now claim raising is critical (laughably) for the survival or our national bureaucracy and labor unions….. er, excuse me,…. for the survival of the nation.
Your “arguing” is so overdone, it can only be called “ashes”.

The Hoover dam?
Rachel Madcow or one of the charities she supports would have helped tie-up a big project like the Hoover dam for decades with some enviro-BS about fresh-water clams or “historical rocks” or anything they could throw up in the air to stop progress.
What kills me is, why to they call themselves “progressives”.
The HOOVER DAM!! Farmer’s can’t even plow when they want, and use the fertilizer they want to plant the crops they want for fear of the wrath of EPA. Look at any engineering, architectural magazine or public policy magazine. All the big bridges, dams and great amphitheatures and other structures are being built elsewhere in the world, many of them in China. Our government has, to borrow a well-known phrase, “its boot on the neck” (by far, the stupidest thing Obama ever said) of too many people and organizations.

But, I like him as a radio personality. Not President. I haven’t seen any TV news program in months. I think Romney is the one to win over the moderate voters. What makes me believe that? My father, a retired UAW worker from GM has always been a democrat. Still is. I mean…the man puts up signs in his yard in Cherokee County for democratic candidates. He voted for Obama, but he too, has seen enough. If Romney wins the republican nomination, he will vote, for the first time in his life, a republican.

Whether or not Samuel Adams helped plan the Boston Tea Party is unknown, but he immediately worked to publicize and defend it.[61] He argued that the Tea Party was not the act of a lawless mob, but was instead a principled protest and the only remaining option the people had to defend their constitutional rights.[62]
While tents and signs are not corporately owned tea…the basics remain the same, this is “a principled protest and the only remaining option the people had to defend their constitutional rights”

I see the folks happy to be on their knees to their corporate overlords are here in force today, ready to say “thankyewsir, mayIhaveanudder”
meanwhile, in the REAL world, an 18% increase over 30 years really isn’t much to cheer about:
The nonpartisan agency said in a report that after-tax income on average grew by 62% during the 30-year period. But that growth wasn’t even. The wealthiest 1% of Americans saw their incomes skyrocket by 275% during that stretch, while after-tax income for the one-fifth of households with the lowest income grew by just 18% from 1979 to 2007.
oh, and those “47%ers who take take take”???
The poorest 20% of the population received more than 50% of government transfers in 1979, but that had fallen to around 35% by 2007, the CBO said. This was largely because of the rise of spending focused on the programs benefiting the elderly such as Social Security and unemployment compensation that aren’t limited to low-income households.

A federal judge blocked part of North Carolina’s new abortion law Tuesday, ruling providers do not have to place an ultrasound image next to a pregnant woman so she can view it, nor do they have to describe its features and offer her the chance to listen to the heartbeat.
The law was set to take effect Wednesday, but U.S. District Judge Catherine Eagles’ decision puts a key section of it on hold until she can hear more arguments.
North Carolina legislators and officials have argued that by offering the image to a woman seeking an abortion and other information they would promote childbirth and protect patients from emotional distress associated with the procedure and possible coercion. The judge said she received no evidence supporting those arguments.
North Carolina officials “have not articulated how the speech-and-display requirements address the stated concern in reducing compelled abortions, and none is immediately apparent,” the judge wrote in a preliminary injunction.

about the right-wing “purification” efforts, if you missed it:
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/24/us/politics/republicans-turn-judicial-power-into-a-campaign-issue.html
The Republican candidates have focused their anger at court rulings on social issues like abortion, same-sex marriage and the role of religion in public life. Those issues hold the potential to fire up the party’s base and to provide crucial support in the primaries.
“There’s an even more dramatic overstep on the part of the courts now,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, the president of the Susan B. Anthony List, a conservative legal advocacy group. “With the grass-roots revolution on the ground and the Tea Party movement, there’s a desire for a return back to first principles.”
“I don’t think it’s an anticourt movement,” Ms. Dannenfelser added. “It’s a purifying of the court — trying to return it to where it should be.”

There has been a massive pussification of Republicans.
During the “war president’s” reign, it was tragic just how a tiny few of them had ever served in uniform. Service avoiders such as Cheney and the cowardly Saxby ran the Republican show, with a yellow streak a mile long. It was beyond absurd how these gutless little jerks feigned being tough guys.
Now they do it again in another battle.
Millions of Americans are fed up with these p*ssies and their ongoing efforts to destroy the middle class.
The working class Americans who have gotten stomped on for a long time will not lay down like our servile neo-cons, who cannot muster up the courage to even say boo about this untenable situation facing us.
This alone explains the bizarre neo-con anger and fear about those who have.
Sure, they hide behind their little, way-off-base snarkiness about people needing showers and unemployed losers and no message (WTF?!), but it is obvious that this is purely transparent desperation to cover up their own cowardice and utter lack of outrage at those who should be held accountable.
They know that Americans are looking at them and wondering what the hell is the matter with these Republiloons???
They support the banksters???
They want the agents for injustice and inequality to keep on keeping on???
They want the Middle Class workers to just shut up, go home and take more of the same abuse?
As p*ssies, that is their job.

okay – off topic, but I gotta say …
speaking as a woman, I’ll never understand the use of that word as a pejorative – particularly when men (well, straight men, anyway) seem to LIKE them so much.
