Unemployment may be coming down, just not in the way we would want it to.
Fewer layoffs are taking place, but at the same time benefits are running out for many who haven’t found a job. New hiring is stagnant because demand just isn’t there.

Well, old Ace got fleas bad but he’s too lazy to scratch them. Seems they’re alot bigger this year than normal. Ever since Ace got fixed he just lays around real quiet. I think fixing would cure alot of the people on this blog. There’s just too many ready to fight over anything.

And the Union went to war to protect slavery…they were motivated by upholding the Constitution. Slavery was constituitional. And only 20% of the Confederates owned slaves. The percentage of Free People of Color who were slave owners was slightly higher. Confederates ran the gamut of humanity and Johnny Reb went to war for almost as many reasons as there were Johnny Rebs…traitors? Of course. They lost.

You might get a different prospective about hanging Lee and Davis if you read O’Reilly’s book, “Killing Lincoln”. The book is entirely non-political and portrays JW Booth as a depraved Southerner hell bent on killing Lincoln and destroying everything Lincoln stood for. On the other hand, Lincoln recognized the value of just sending everyone home, no trials, no reprisals, no hangings. He needed the South to help rebuild the Union, especially the agriculture of the South. Andrew Johnson, his veep, felt a lot like you…. hang ‘em all. I wonder what might have happened if Booth had not been successful.

I am not saying that O’Reilly’s book was the definitive text on the killing of Lincoln. There are far more complete texts on the subject. It was, however, a fun read. One of the flaws was a meeting in the Oval Office when the Oval Office had not been constructed yet. The part about the surrender of Lee was most interesting and probably, pretty accurate.
