A U.S. Army Ranger from San Diego has been killed in combat in Afghanistan, the Pentagon announced Sunday.
Sgt. 1st Class Kristoffer Domeij, 29, was killed Saturday in Kandahar province when his unit was attacked by the enemy with an improvised explosive device.
Domeij enlisted in the Army in 2001 and joined the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington in 2002. He was on his 14th combat deployment.
—————–
Fourteen combat deployments in a 10-year military career. (According to the Pentagon, Domeij enlisted in July 2001, before the terror attacks of that September.) You have to wonder what that does to a person, and to his family. Even had he survived, that’s an awful lot to ask of a soldier, and the soldier’s family. (Sgt. Domeij leaves behind his wife, Sarah, and daughters Mikajsa and Aaliyah.)
Also killed in the attack were 1st Lt. Ashley White, 24, and Pfc. Christopher A. Horns, 20.

The twin towers and building 7 did notcollapse on account of fire. Surely there must be some precedent since the WTC towers “collapsed” on account of fire. There must have been at least onebuilding before or after to have collapse on account of fire.

The Windsor Building Fire
Huge Fire in Steel-Reinforced Concrete Building Causes Partial Collapse
The Windsor Building after the fire was extinguished
On the night of February 12, 2005, a fire started in the Windsor building in Madrid, Spain, a 32-story tower framed in steel-reinforced concrete. At its peak, the fire, which burned for almost a day, completely engulfed the upper ten stories of the building. More than 100 firefighters battled to prevent the uncontrollable blaze from spreading to other buildings. 1
During the night the building shedded larged pieces, which crashed to the ground. 2
The fire apparently caused the collapse of the top floor spans surrounding the still-standing core structure of the ten uppermost floors

Gee, sooth, we’re fresh out of tube-in-tube design buildings over 80 stories and occupying an entire city block, hit by passenger planes at full throttle loaded with fuel for a cross-continental trip, which were virtually untouched by firefighters.
Now knock it off. The type of conspiracy you propose could not be done without the military. Peddling your nutbag crap underneath a photo of a fallen soldier is repulsive, and an insult to the decent people you slander, calling them liars and mass murderers.

Jet fuel, i.e., kerosene, under optimal conditions, burns at around 750 degrees fahrenheit far below the 2,750 degrees fahrenheit required to melt steel.

Fifteen cases were from the U.S., two from Canada, and five from Europe, Russia, and South America. The numbers of fire collapse events can be categorized by building material as follows:
Concrete: 7 (1 in Pentagon 9-11 event)
Structural steel: 6 (4 in 9-11 WTC events)

Sooth,
Read the article sooth. Part of that building completely gave way. The article explains the scientific reason why part of it completely gave way and part of it didn’t. You must also remember that firefighters were able to get water to the scene and onto the fire- something they weren’t able to do on the wtc buildings. Lastly the other buildings did not have thousands of gallons of jet fuel to add to the fire as in the case of the wtc which obviously would weaken the steel.

Wrong again Sooth. I don’t know how many times I have to tell you the same thing. Steel doesn’t need to be melted. It merely needs to be weakened by high temps. Secondly I’m not sure what planet you live on but there were a number of other combustibles that added to the fire. Think of all the paper, sofa, office furniture, drywall, etc. all the different flammables that immediately added to the fire Somehow or another your article completely managed to avoid mentioning the various other items that would have added to an ensuing fire. I’m surprised you didn’t think about all that. But then again if your mind is closed to all other possibilities then why would you?

FACT: Jet fuel burns at 800° to 1500°F, not hot enough to melt steel (2750°F). However, experts agree that for the towers to collapse, their steel frames didn’t need to melt, they just had to lose some of their structural strength—and that required exposure to much less heat. “I have never seen melted steel in a building fire,” says retired New York deputy fire chief Vincent Dunn, author of The Collapse Of Burning Buildings: A Guide To Fireground Safety. “But I’ve seen a lot of twisted, warped, bent and sagging steel. What happens is that the steel tries to expand at both ends, but when it can no longer expand, it sags and the surrounding concrete cracks.”
“Steel loses about 50 percent of its strength at 1100°F,” notes senior engineer Farid Alfawak-hiri of the American Institute of Steel Construction. “And at 1800° it is probably at less than 10 percent.” NIST also believes that a great deal of the spray-on fireproofing insulation was likely knocked off the steel beams that were in the path of the crashing jets, leaving the metal more vulnerable to the heat.
But jet fuel wasn’t the only thing burning, notes Forman Williams, a professor of engineering at the University of California, San Diego, and one of seven structural engineers and fire experts that PM consulted. He says that while the jet fuel was the catalyst for the WTC fires, the resulting inferno was intensified by the combustible material inside the buildings, including rugs, curtains, furniture and paper. NIST reports that pockets of fire hit 1832°F.
“The jet fuel was the ignition source,” Williams tells PM. “It burned for maybe 10 minutes, and [the towers] were still standing in 10 minutes. It was the rest of the stuff burning afterward that was responsible for the heat transfer that eventually brought them down.”

Notice the two concentric rows of explosions below the top portion of the building that is falling away from the main portion of the building. “HNN Poll: 61% of Historians Rate the Bush Presidency Worst”
In the wake of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, the United States enjoyed enormous support around the world. President Bush squandered that goodwill by taking the country into an unnecessary war of choice and misleading the American people to gain support for that war. And he failed utterly to have a plan to deal with Iraq after the invasion. He further undermined the international reputation of the United States by justifying torture.
Mr. Bush inherited a sizable budget surplus and a thriving economy. By pushing through huge tax cuts for the rich while increasing federal spending at a rapid rate, Bush transformed the surplus into a massive deficit. The tax cuts and other policies accelerated the concentration of wealth and income among the very richest Americans. These policies combined with unwavering opposition to necessary government regulations have produced the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. Then there is the incredible shrinking dollar, the appointment of incompetent cronies, the totally inexcusable failure to react properly to the disaster of Hurricane Katrina, the blatant disregard for the Constitution—and on and on.
Like a majority of other historians who participated in this poll, my conclusion is that the preponderance of the evidence now indicates that, while this nation has had at least its share of failed presidencies, no previous presidency was as large a failure in so many areas as the current one.

1811,
I realize I am swimming against the tide but if sooth has an ounce of objectivity and open mindedness in him he will realize from science itself why the wtc collapsed. I’m not giving up hope on him yet.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
When it comes to his wild conspiracy theories, give up on him. Well most of the time. He’s had a couple that made sense. But on the whole, DON’T give up on him. He posts tons of useful information. He’s all over the “green” stuff and easy ways to save energy. I like him. I still bust him out on his weird stuff though.

He already owns the birthers and Islamophobes, but it is hysterical to watch how BHO keeps punking the chickenhawks and neo-cons.
He goes all militaristic on them, surges into Afghanistan, increases the DoD budget and beats them at their own game.
And now they are all war weary and have gone flaccid in the war on terrorism. Think Libya.
And the Party of Permanent War boys can’t decide if they are gonna ___ or go blind.
Comedy gold…

If you can do it without breaking your back or dropping your arms…you win the argument.
Yeah, because a human being is exactly the same as a building.

JKL2: I reckon I’ll have to study Woodrow a little. As I know nothing about him and his Presidency, I can’t comment on it. I disagree with you about the “evil intent’ of President Obama.
bman: I can’t say for sure but I’m guessing Apple. I know all their sh5t is made overseas now……..

ROFLMFAO!!!! top it, you’re going to make me cry.
1: They have no clue what they stand for.
2: They want OPP. (Demwit utopia) taken by by taxes, force, or any other means.
3: All the hate comes from the left. guess who they are going to vote for? Kind of funny how things on the plantation have reversed themselves now isn’t it?

Friends, I know what is at stake in the whole 9/11 argument. If you accept the official government explanation, then you can keep your faith that your government is a force for good in the World and would never murder 3,000 of its own citizens as a pretext to war.
However, if you examine the objective evidence, it becomes clear in a short time that that is exactly what has happened. Not only that, but government agencies like NIST (National Institute of Standards and Testing) have lied and covered up the real science behind 9/11.
If you are absolutely certain that you know what happened on 9/11, if you just accepted the government’s version of what without really questioning it, or if you have maybe thought somewhere in the back of your mind that things surrounding 9/11 didn’t seem quite right, I invite you to watch this full-length (2 hours, 15 minutes) video. You may find the results surprising — and disturbing.

Scarlet,
Hell I like sooth even though we have our heated discussions from time to time and I will respect his opinion even if I think its terribly misguided. Then again I like several of the liberals on here and most of them know that when I lob right wing bombs its often never directed at any of them personally. Only a couple of them that I think aren’t worth the dirt on the bottom of my shoe sole. Hell some of the libs like AmVet are downright hilarious when they lob a bomb at us cons. AmVet has me rolling on the birthers right now as I read his 11:12 post. But alas Doomy has to call it a night. Roger out.

Welsh was not a visionary. Steve Jobs was….But, Welsh knew how to run a company. Period.
Bill Clinton? He rode the big wave of the technology push – or as most analysts called it “The new economy”. And, he rode it perfectly. (Please no Monica L. jokes)
I liked having Clinton and the Republican Congress. I like the balance of power. Clinton was an idiot for bad judgement and then lying. The republicans idiots with their witch hunts. I don’t like Obama with any congress. Obama has to win the moderates. He won’t.
Admitting that Obama is a complete and total failure doesn’t necessarily make you a republican.

LOL bman. I made the classic mistake that everyone else makes when I ask a question. You were seeking information, not “trying to make a point.”
I do the same when I ask a question. Hell if I knew I wouldn’t ask. I’ll see if I can find out, but it will be tough. Everyone pretty much does the manufacturing outside the US but (and I missed it first time around) you asked who also outsourced customer support. THAT might be a tough question to answer………
