This weekend, the ‘honey-do’ list beckons

Fall has come. And with the cooler weather, my wife has put together a long list of things I need to get accomplished this weekend. Rotting wood to replace. Shrubs to plant. A slow-draining kitchen sink. Alas, a handyman’s work is never finished.

On the other hand, as the lovely Alberta Hunter slyly points out, there are compensations.

“With homosexuals now able to serve openly in the military, the gay rights movement’s next battleground is to persuade the Obama administration to end the armed forces’ ban on “transgenders,” a group that includes transsexuals and cross-dressers.

“Our position is that the military should re-examine the policy, the medical regulations, so as to allow open service for transgender people,” said Vincent Paolo Villano, spokesman for the 6,000-member Center for Transgender Equality.”

Sooth: Before the Trial By Fire tour could begin, Perry suffered a hip injury while hiking in Hawaii and was unable to perform. Perry was diagnosed with a degenerative bone condition and a hip replacement would be required. Reluctant to rush into surgery, Perry wished to postpone the tour. Due to the long wait between the album’s release and the tour’s postponed kick-off date, as well as the absence of Journey’s iconic frontman, Journey fans were losing hope for the band’s future.

Meanwhile, long-time Journey drummer Steve Smith resigned, reportedly saying “Journey without Steve Perry was like Jack without his box.” (Smith had rejoined, along with original Journey member Ross Valory, to complete what Perry has referred to as the band’s wedding band line-up.)[6]

The remaining members waited until 1998, nearly 17 months after Perry’s injury, before making a decision on Journey’s future. Growing impatient and realizing the window of opportunity was closing to follow up the success of the Platinum-selling Trial By Fire LP with a world tour, Journey members Jonathan Cain and Neal Schon met with Perry and presented an ultimatum that he either undergo hip replacement surgery so the tour could proceed upon his recovery or a replacement singer would be hired.[6] Perry, still hesitant to undergo surgery and now apparently upset at his bandmates’ intractability and their perceived meddling in personal health decisions, decided to part ways with Journey. Perry’s vocal duties were later taken over by Steve Augeri of Tall Stories, and nearly two years after the album’s initial release, Journey began its long-postponed tour.

I just looked it up because I had been told it was a voice injury.

The AJC prints that Michelle shops at Target. Yea, right. I don’t think that they sell $40,000 dollar party bracelets at Target do they? My God, how stupid do her and her husband (and apparently their desperate supporters in the liberal press) think the American people are? Of course, the fact that Obama got elected in the first place proves that they may be right but it won’t carry him next year. Perhaps one day Michelle may just HAVE to shop at Target like the rest of us average Americans. Of course they do have their millions, so I doubt it.

Adios.

For all of the Todd Rundgren/Utopia fans out there, that legendary band is coming to the Center Stage Theater on November 9.

Their very first track of their very first record was recorded live at the Fox Theater.

So for all those who appreciate some of the most innovative progressive music around, this is as good as it gets.
