I hate to bring this up on the morning after the Braves completed their monumental collapse, but ….
“The Atlanta region lost more jobs the last year than any other metro area, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Wednesday, further evidence that the post-recessionary slump here shows little sign of abating.
Metro Atlanta shed 30,800 jobs since August 2010. Kansas City — 12,800 positions erased — was the closest competitor in job-losses. Nearly all of Atlanta’s peer metro areas added at least some jobs amid the slow economic recovery.”
… “Out of almost 400 metropolitan areas, we’re dead last and nobody is competing with us for that distinction,” said Chris Cunningham, a BLS statistician in Atlanta. “It’s pretty bad and it has been the same story for the last two, three years.”
I don’t get it.
You mean that a strategy of cutting taxes lower and lower, of refusing to spend money to modernize the transportation system that made you prosperous in the first place, of slashing state support for k-12 and higher education year after year, of kowtowing to developers and other businesses at the expense of quality of life for those who actually live here, of largely ignoring the needs of your state’s largest metro area — you mean that doesn’t work?
After all that, this is what we get?

No deal. We want you to defend your comparison of two consenting adults and an adult and an animal.
If you’re going to go down a dumb and contrived slippery slope, don’t ask others to answer totally different questions first. Just defend your original comparison.

Crony Capitalism: $737 Million Green Jobs Loan Given to Nancy Pelosi’s Brother-In-Law
11:00 AM, Sep 29, 2011 • By MARK HEMINGWAYSingle Page
Despite the growing Solyndra scandal, yesterday the Department of Energy approved $1 billion in new loans to green energy companies — including a $737 million loan guarantee to a company known as SolarReserve:
SolarReserve LLC, a closely held renewable energy developer, received a $737 million U.S. Energy Department loan guarantee to build a solar-thermal project in Nevada.
The 110-megawatt Crescent Dunes project, near Tonopah, Nevada, will use the sun’s heat to create steam that drives a turbine, the agency said today in a e-mailed statement. SolarReserve is based in Santa Monica, California.
On SolarReserve’s website is a list of “investment partners,” including the “PCG Clean Energy & Technology Fund (East) LLC.” As blogger American Glob quickly discovered, PCG’s number two is none other than “Ronald Pelosi, a San Francisco political insider and financial industry polymath who happens to be the brother-in-law of Nancy Pelosi, the Minority Leader of the United States House of Representatives.”
But wait… there’s more! One of SolarReserve’s other investment partners is Argonaut Private Equity:
Steve Mitchell and Argonaut Private Equity might have a chance to recoup some of their losses in the Solyndra debacle now that the Department of Energy has given a $737 million dollar loan guarantee to a company backed by Argonaut that also lists Mitchell among its board of directors.
Mitchell served on the Solyndra LLC Board of Directors. He also serves as Managing Director for Argonaut Private Equity, a company that invested in Solyndra through the LLCs parent company. After Solyndra declared bankruptcy, two Democratic members of the U.S. House asked that Mitchell testify about Solyndra. Though he has not appeared before Congress, he has “been asked to provide documents to Congress” pertaining to Solyndra.
And for good measure, it’s also noteworthy that Obama is about to hold a big money fundraiser at the home of Tom Carnahan in St. Louis:
Carnahan, a member of the prominent Missouri Democratic family, has been tapped by the Obama campaign as its chief Missouri fundraiser. He is chairman of the board of Wind Capital Group, a wind energy company that makes it corporate headquarters in St. Louis. He formerly was president and CEO of the company.
Last year, Wind Capital’s Lost Creek Farm facility in northwest Missouri received a $107 million tax credit from the Treasury Department, among many such wind operations receiving support from from stimulus funds.
Tom Carnahan is the son of former Missouri governor Mel Carnahan and former U.S. senator Jean Carnahan. He’s also the brother of current Missouri secretary of state, Robin Carnahan.
It’s increasingly hard to tell the government’s green jobs subsidies apart from the Democrats’ friends and family rewards program.

As much as I’d agree with the sentiment, we do not live in a theocracy. Laws are not based on biblical law. They are not based on Sharia law. They are not based on Judaic Law, nor Hammurabic Code.
Although many of those laws form some basis of our laws, we do not use them to rule everyone. Such is AMERICA! Our Founding Fathers were wise to realize how dynamic laws can be.
You may believe what you would like, but allow others to believe as they would as well. And do not use religious law because those laws become obsolete. We in the US no longer stone people even though God commands it.

“I don’t get it.”-Jay Bookman
The reason you don’t get it is because you want to blog on macro issues yet you refuse to look at the most basic component of the equation and look at the impact certain government actions have had.
If you cannot even for a moment, look at a single business before and after the mandatory minimum wage increases and grasp what happens to the bottom line when labor rises 40%, and every thing else remains the same for that business, then how could you possibly grasp the larger macroeconomic picture.
Instead you try to compare wages of different decades, which has nothing to do with this one business in 2006 and the very same business in 2011. That sheds no light on the problem. That offers no solutions.
And when asked if the rise in minimum wage had nothing to do with job losses, then what would be the result if we did the same again today, you won’t answer.

THIS.
Strawman, you said it, you ’splain it. Better yet, I’ll pay your airfare, you can go ’splain it to the gay soldier the teanuts booed. I bet you won’t stand within swinging distance of his large biceps and compare him to a dog-f#(er. I bet you pee your pants and run away.
So Strawman, your response of “um…errr….I can’t answer that, lemme try and dodge by asking you a question!” is lame, lame, lame. No sale, honey!
And since I’m done conversing with someone who is apparently confused about sexual attractions and dogs…..your fumble is almost as lame as AmVet leaving RAY FRIGGIN’ McBERRY off of his creepy Republican list.
Our own homegrown Teanut darling, ignored by everyone except Karen Handel.
Though in Slitherin’ McBerry’s defense, he was never convicted of child molestation. The 35 year old only gave a 16 year old a cellphone (to call him) against her parent’s wishes ignored his church’s pleas to leave her alone, arranged secretive meetings on dirt roads and tried to tempt her with—no kidding—A PUPPY.
Hey, maybe there’s something to that extreme rightwing uptight anti-gay creepiness and sexual use of dogs after all!

Had some work to do!! Apologize for the delay!!
Let’s address your response to me:
1) “It would appear you are painting with a big brush that conforms to your preconceived notions, which I would say is ironically prejudicial. If you are going see everything TODAY through the prism of the sixties, then what can be said: you are simply close-minded. I would hope that you would not argue that the bulk of Republicans today are operating from a “racist paradigm.” If so, I would contend you are as ignorant of the facts as you would say a white suburbanite is ignorant of inner city
conditions.”
First, my notions aren’t preconceived; they are derived from EXPERIENCE, not a prism! Granted, times have changed…but certain paradigms haven’t….even though the people who implement said paradigm are not of the same caliber as those who DESIGNED the paradigm!! I would not argue that the preponderance of those in the GOP are racists (I don’t believe that at all!)….but the IDEOLOGY they support HAS a racist component that the GOP has YET to refute…and/or eliminate!!
2) ” Reagan’s advocacy for “states’ rights”…is a call for segregation?”
If you remember the historical perspective of the phrase…that’s exactly what Reagan did! (from wikipedia:)
Ronald Reagan’s “states’ rights” speech given on August 3, 1980, was his first public address after the Republican National Convention officially chose him as the Republican nominee for the 1980 United States presidential election. The speech drew attention for his use of the phrase “states’ rights” at the Neshoba County Fair, just a few miles from Philadelphia, Mississippi, a town associated with the 1964 murders of civil rights workers.
Given the history of Philadelphia, and Reagan’s use of the words “states’ rights,” often interpreted as a desire to return to pre-Civil Rights laws regarding segregation, many of Reagan’s critics felt that he was at least insensitive to the concerns of blacks, or that he even was using this location and these words as a cynical, coded appeal to the white racist vote. Columnist Bob Herbert of The New York Times wrote, “Everybody watching the 1980 campaign knew what Reagan was signaling at the fair,” and that it “was understood that when politicians started chirping about ’states’ rights’ to white people in places like Neshoba County they were saying that when it comes down to you and the blacks, we’re with you”.[3] Paul Krugman, also of the Times, noted that a Republican national committee member from Mississippi had urged Reagan to speak at the county fair, as it would help win over “George Wallace inclined voters”, and wrote that this was just one of many examples of “Reagan’s tacit race-baiting in the historical record.”
Eulogizing on Reagan’s death, Washington Post columnist William Raspberry noted of the incident:
It was bitter symbolism for black Americans (though surely not just for black Americans). Countless observers have noted that Reagan took the Republican Party from virtual irrelevance to the ascendancy it now enjoys. The essence of that transformation, we shouldn’t forget, is the party’s successful wooing of the race-exploiting Southern Democrats formerly known as Dixiecrats. And Reagan’s Philadelphia appearance was an important bouquet in that courtship.”
3) Jeb Bush’s purging of the voter roles:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A99749-2001May30
Ultimately, over 94,000 people…primarily black people, were denied the right to vote in Florida during the 2000 Presidential Election. Coincidential?? Don’t think so!! Look at what is occurring under Republican governors: the right to vote is being SLOWLY eroded to those who do not believe as Republicans do! Wisconsin, Ohio are just two examples!!!
3) “Look…at the risk of offending you, people (white, black and Hispanic) are abusing the system”. I don’t disagree that some are abusing the system…but note when conservatives speak about the abuses….they put a BLACK face on the ad! Reagan invoked the tern “welfare queens driving Cadillacs”! Note they don’t put a face from Appalachia on it….even though they use more of the system that black people do!!
4) Granted, the educational system is broken (raised by educators!)…parental involvement is the requisite (no disagreement)…but diverting funding from public education isn’t the answer! All voucher systems do is divert funding from public education to fund PRIVATE education…and the mandates are different. Public education educates the MASSES…while private education educates the DISCRIMINATE (chosen few)!!
5) Not just moral standards (which the GOP has been hypocritical of)…but LEGAL standards!! Take gay marriage! By TREATY, the US must recognize ANY marriage by whatever nation the US has a treaty with; under the EQUAL PROTECTION CLAUSE of the 14th Amendment and the Contracts clause of the Constitution, any contract entered into in ONE state is recognized by ALL 50! Marriage falls under that proviso…but you wish to DENY the right of two PEOPLE the right to enter into a contract and negate the provisos of said contract because of sex..or race (remember Loving vs. Virginia??)?? I thought Republicans believed in the concept of LAW!??? To use the law to maintain discrimination is CRIMINAL itself!! If the standard of a legal commitment is to be used….it should be available to ALL who seek it!!!
That’s my problem with the GOP….and also..by the GOP’s ignoring me as a constituent….what are the other prevalent options???

He saw a couple of long lists of Republican operatives and assumed they were about corruption, fraud, abuse etc.
But, as anyone who actually even glanced at them knows, they are pedophilic criminals that Righty was blissfully ignorant of…
Might as well add some more for the unlearned…
Republican County Councilman Keola Childs pleaded guilty to molesting a boy.
Republican activist John Butler was charged with criminal sexual assault on a teenage girl.
Republican candidate Richard Gardner admitted to molesting his two daughters.
Republican Councilman and former Marine Jack W. Gardner was convicted of molesting a 13-year-old girl.
Republican County Commissioner Merrill Robert Barter pleaded guilty
to unlawful sexual contact and assault on a teenage boy.
Republican City Councilman Fred C. Smeltzer, Jr. pleaded no contest to raping a 15 year-old girl
and served 6 months in prison.
Republican activist Parker J. Bena pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography on his home computer
and was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison and fined $18,000.
Republican parole board officer and former Colorado state representative, Larry Jack Schwarz,
was fired after child pornography was found in his possession.
Republican strategist and Citadel Military College graduate Robin Vanderwall was convicted in Virginia on
five counts of soliciting sex from boys and girls over the Internet.
Republican city councilman Mark Harris, who is described as a “good military man” and “church goer,”
was convicted of repeatedly having sex with an 11-year-old girl and sentenced to 12 years in prison.
Republican businessman Jon Grunseth withdrew his candidacy for Minnesota governor after allegations
surfaced that he went swimming in the nude with four underage girls, including his daughter.
Republican campaign worker, police officer and self-proclaimed reverend Steve Aiken
was convicted of having sex with two underage girls.
Republican director of the “Young Republican Federation” Nicholas Elizondo
molested his 6-year-old daughter and was sentenced to six years in prison.
Republican president of the New York City Housing Development Corp.
Russell Harding pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography on his computer.
Republican benefactor of conservative Christian groups, Richard A. Dasen Sr., was found guilty of
raping a 15-year-old girl. Dasen, 62, who is married with grown children and several grandchildren, has
allegedly told police that over the past decade he paid more than $1 million to have sex with a large
number of young women.
Republican Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld authorized the rape of children in Iraqi prisons in
order to humiliate their parents into providing information about the anti-American insurgency.
See excerpt of one prisoner’s report here and his full report here.
http://www.newsfollowup.com/children.htm#bryant
Republican County Board Candidate Brent Schepp was charged with molesting a 14-year old girl and killed himself three days later.
Republican Mayor Jeffrey Kyle Randall was sentenced to 275 days in jail for molesting two boys — ages ten and 12 — during a six-year period.
Republican prosecutor Larry Corrigan was arrested for soliciting sex from 13-year old girls.
Republican County Commissioner Patrick Lee McGuire surrendered to police after allegedly molesting girls between the ages of 8 and 13.
Republican congressional aide Jeffrey Nielsen was arrested for having sex with a 14-year old boy.
Republican city councilman Joseph Monteleone Jr. was found guilty of fondling underage girls.
Republican legislator Ted Klaudt was charged with raping girls under the age of 16.

Come on, people.
You’re not really debating which party has the most perverts, are you? That’s not a political debate, that’s … just sad, really.

Hey! That’s the same list on the other websites I found — all 9 of them.
MR,
THAT is not corruption which is what you originally wrote, I wanted the facts about that.
But as usual, you have shown us your excellent ability to dodge and deflect.

Mike — The claim was *child molesters.* You seem to be reaching a bit.
Righty — “You are the one that wanted more info. It is not up to me to feed your curiosity.”
You are the one who attempted to rebut what had been posted here with a pathetic “go Google it.” Stop looking to others to do your work. Frankly, I think you should man up, admit that you don’t have any supporting evidence and move on.

“here are a few to get you started:”
Mike,
Weird thing is, on all three or four websites I saw they all said that, and they all had that same list – word for word — and guess what? None of them had any additional names. Why don’t you go find those for us?

You can say I’m skeered of black people all you want. Believe all you want. Make a joke of it. It doesn’t change the demographic changes and corresponding economic changes that occurred in South Fulton, Clayton and DeKalb counties over the last 25 years.
I base that on the first hand experience of growing up in South Fulton county, graduating high school in ‘78, attending Clayton Junior College, working at Rich’s at Southlake and Shannon malls until entering the military in 1982. Coupled with two years experience in heavy equipment sales in south metro Atlanta counties area from 2006 – 2008. Shopping, eating and interacting with people during those three years.
I like to think I live in a fairly diverse area. Of the 12 homes/families on my street: one is for sale, one is Asian, four are Black and six are Asian. Somewhat multicultural. So, I don’t tend to be skeered of too much.
Both of my children went to public schools; one is in college on full academic and athletic scholarships and the other is working his way through college part-time. It’s not how much money you throw at an educational system, it’s how much “parenting” parents are willing to throw at their children.
And, say what you want, the majority of violent crime in the metro area is perpetrated by Blacks. The bulk of which is Black on Black crime.
So, is Whitey a little skeered of the Black man. Maybe not so much the Black man as Black culture. And I’m not talking about African Black culture which is filled with a rich heritage. But American Black culture which currently embraces degradation of women, a bias towards playing the victimization card, a gangsta’ mentality and inability to hold their leaders and each other accountability.
So, let the labeling of me as a ignorant, racist bigot begin.

Georgia is the new Mississippi . High poverty rates, low morals, poorly educated home of the Johnny Reb flag flying redneck that is armed to his teeth trying to protect the watermelons in his back yard from the black man. ( LOL )

We all want the same thing. Job security, safety for our families, good schools for our children, the ability to work hard and get ahead. Until we unite we are doomed. Common sense for the last election was anyone but the republican, this time it’s anyone but obama. Give me a dem or a repub, but get bozo out of town becouse he’s completley incapable. When obama came to office I had hope. Two years he had all three parts of government in dem control and squanderd it by paying off banks, unions, insurance copanies and wall street. I thought he was for the working man and he turned out to be for the wealthy. He has not helped anyone but his biggest donors and i’m tired of putting our tax dollars in the hands of the wealthy that supported him. WAKE UP AMERICA AND COME TOGETHER! We have been shafted.

Hope and pray Georgians continue to elect GOP governors and a GOP controlled house of reps……. things will truly get worst and drive some folks out of the State. This is the goal of the GOP and will have a one party State of Georgia.

One thing I notice on blogs that highlight or even hint at Republican policy failures conservative commenters go all out and attack everyone and everything that have absolutely nothing to do with the topic. Can you say neurotic?
