Anti-immigrant extremist appointed to powerful state board

Gov. Nathan Deal has appointed a bigoted, anti-immigrant extremist to an important state board. The appointment should be withdrawn immediately.

Phil Kent, named by Deal to the Immigration Enforcement Review Board on Friday, is a former journalist, an author, a national spokesman for American Immigration Control and executive director of the American Immigration Control Foundation. The AIC opposes not just illegal immigration but immigration generally.

“The name of the left’s game is to open the gates to massive Third World immigration and keep the immigrants as ignorant, impoverished and unassimilated as possible,” the AIC warns in a recent anonymous column published on its website. “That way they will be a reliable electorate for ‘progressive’ politics, or perhaps reliable cannon fodder for armed revolution.”

That’s right. It’s a leftist plot to smuggle in cannon fodder for an armed revolution.

Kent himself has written even more inflammatory material. For example, he seems peculiarly concerned about preserving what he calls the “whiteness” of America. In a column last year, he warned that 2010 could be the “tipping point” for America, the year in which minority babies outnumber white babies.

“If this trend is not reversed– and it could be if an immigration moratorium were imposed– what Vassar College author Hua Hsu labels America’s white “centrifugal core” will slowly disappear,” Kent wrote. “This leads to big questions: What will be the values and ideas of a multicultural America? What will it mean to be white after “whiteness” no longer defines the cultural mainstream?

“Television and movies will increasingly have diverse casts– with whites downgraded. New York radio personality Peter Rosenberg gushes that it is ‘now very cool and in to have multicultural friends.’ The advertising world will radically change. Brown Johnson, a Nickelodean executive speaking before the Association of Hispanic Advertising Agencies, touts TV characters who don’t conform to ‘the white, middle class mold.’ Hispanic marketer Rochelle Newman-Carrasco further notes ‘it has become harder for the blond-haired, blue-eyed commercial actor.’

“Many whites ‘will flee into whiteness.’ They will move to where other fair-skinned brethren are to retain their identity — nostalgically yearning for an American authenticity where everyone speaks English. Politically, the country will become more balkanized, with white leaders forming and breaking alliances with their black and Hispanic counterparts. (An example: Gwinnett County — outside of Atlanta, Ga. — will turn into an Hispanic/Muslim enclave if present trends continue. Whites there are already moving to ‘friendlier’ areas.)”

Note the concept that “American authenticity” exists only in areas where the “fair-skinned brethren are able to retain their identity.” In other columns, Kent demands a halt to all humanitarian refugee programs in this country, calls Barack Obama “a dangerous, anti-white multiculturalist” and tells us that Obama’s success in attracting support from younger white Americans is “testimony to the growing number of whites brainwashed by incessant diversity propaganda.”

Kent is a well-known figure in Georgia politics and has kept none of these sentiments secret. The columns cited above can be found at his website, www.philkent.com. Yet Deal appointed him as one of seven members to the Immigration Enforcement Review Board anyway.

That board, created by House Bill 87, the illegal-immigration bill passed earlier this year, has real powers and responsibilities. Any Georgia citizen can now file a complaint with the board alleging that a state or local agency — a sheriff or a social-service agency, for example — has failed to be sufficiently aggressive in enforcing the bill’s harsh provisions.

The review board has subpoena power to force testimony. It will sit, much like a court, in deciding such cases. If it rules against a public agency or employee, the “guilty” party will have 30 days to correct the problem or face sanctions. According to the law, “sanctions may include revocation of qualified local government status, loss of state appropriated funds, and a monetary fine of not less than $1,000 or more than $5,000.” The attorney general would be authorized to implement the sanctions.

Putting that kind of power in the hands of a bigot is grossly irresponsible.

Wow…. Speaking as a fair-skinned woman, I must admit that many of my “fair-skinned brethren” are total ay-holes. I like living amid diversity. It makes life more interesting. This “fair-skinned” utopia the bigots dream of is not much of a utopia, IMO. Furthermore, white bread is boring and gives you colon polyps. Yuck.

Appointing Phil Kent to an Immigration Review Board is like making Adolf Hitler an honorary member of B’nai Brith — you know it’s not going to end well.

What will it mean to be white after “whiteness” no longer defines the cultural mainstream?

I’m guessing about the same thing as being Black while “whiteness” currently defines cultural mainstream. No sympathy from me on that one.

Well, it’s downright unfriendly for Bookman to write about a former colleague like that.

Anyhow, seems to me if you want immigration controlled, you need people against immigration to do it.

You wouldn’t put a person that went bust with a bank in charge of state banking, would you?

No. I’m advocating that we go to a racial affirmative action system based on race- just like the libs want it. Too many blacks in basketball- 80% when their population is 13%. Lets shift some of them to swimming, golf(Tiger is only one), badminton, polo, etc. And the lack of Hispanics and Asians in basketball is appalling. We need more Asians now that Yao Ming has retired and I can’t think of one Jose in the NBA. Haven’t seen any minorities in professional bowling- the PBA is clearly a racist organization.

Based on the remarks Phil Kent has put forth on “The Georgia Gang” on Sunday mornings regarding illegal immigrants (and others of color), I am not at all surprised at those words above.

I agree wholeheartedly that Phil Kent should be removed from the Immigration Enforcement Review Board. Governor Deal would be prudent – and wise – to reconsider that appointment. It also reflects adversely upon him.

Brocephus,

I think most of us including myself are in favor of affirmative action. But to a degree. For example in the university of Michigan law school case if I remember correctly a white student applying with a 4.0 undergrad GPA had a 2-3% chance of acceptance while a minority with something like a 2.5 GPA had a 100% acceptance rate. That’s just plain wrong. I think any black that applied with a more respectable gpa like 3.5 should have been accepted but 2.5 is ridiculous when whites with 4.0 GPAs were being turned down. Overall though I think affirmative action has generally been good and I certainly want to make sure no one is blatantly discriminated against.

Thulsa, as soon as Gov. Deal appoints a member of La Raza to an immigration board, we’ll deal with that question.

Furthermore, the “reconquita” claim is paranoid nonsense. From the La Raza website:

Another misconception about NCLR is the allegation that we support a “Reconquista,” or the right of Mexico to reclaim land in the southwestern United States. NCLR has not made and does not make any such claim; indeed, such a claim is so far outside of the mainstream of the Latino community that we find it incredible that our critics raise it as an issue. NCLR has never supported and does not endorse the notion of a “Reconquista” or “Aztlán.” Similarly, NCLR’s critics falsely claim that the statement “Por La Raza todo, Fuera de La Raza nada,” [“For the community everything, outside the community nothing”] is NCLR’s motto. NCLR unequivocally rejects this statement, which is not and has never been the motto of any Latino organization.

NCLR’s work as a civil rights institution is about inclusion and participation in the American Dream, including extensive efforts to assist new immigrants in the process of fully integrating into American life. In fact, NCLR and its Affiliates work everyday to provide English classes, support naturalization efforts, and offer other services that help integrate immigrants fully into American society.”

Regardless la raza holds a lot of sway and with a lot of Democratic bigwigs. Just the facts sir. I hates hurting them libruls with da FACTS.

President Obama opened his speech to the National Council of La Raza yesterday by publicly acknowledging the Hispanic group’s close ties to the White House, a relationship that has aligned the two on nearly every policy issue during his presidency.

“Right off the bat, I should thank you because I have poached quite a few of your alumni to work in my administration,” Obama said to laughter. “They’re all doing outstanding work. … Latinos serving at every level of my administration.”

Those alumni have rewarded La Raza generously with taxpayer funding. A Judicial Watch investigation last month revealed the organization’s federal funding skyrocketed after Obama hired La Raza’s senior vice president, Cecilia Muñoz, to be his director of intergovernmental affairs in January 2009.

When Obama took the stage yesterday, the lines between official presidential business and campaigning for reelection quickly blured. At one point, he boasted to the Hispanic audience, “The Democrats and your president are with you.” This hyper-partisan approach embraced by the White House is the latest sign Obama is rightly concerned that he could be losing a growing and influential voting bloc.

I lived in Guatemala one year when I was a foreign exchange student. Its probably gotten a little meaner and rougher since I’ve been there. When the govt and the rebels quit fighting that left thousands of unemployed guerilla soldiers. An unemployed guerrilla can spell lots of trouble.

Regardless though Guatemala is a country that is absolutely beautiful. Nothing but scenic volcanoes, fast flowing rivers, lakes, oceans on both sides. Freaking awesome country. I’m hoping that it will be back to being more stabilized when I return. Who knows? Maybe they will send everyone up here and retirees like me can then go down there. I’ll take that tradeoff because until you’ve been there you can’t imagine the scenic beauty of the country.

They seem willing to do anything but address the actual issue, Amvet. If they think that this was an appropriate appointment, they should say so.

Jay,

Thanks for the correction on virulent since I am typing so fast I’m glad I have you to point out typos- how courteous of you. Still waiting on your response to whether or not Cecilia Munoz was an appropriate appointment. I suspect that if you are as consistent as you fancy yourself to be then your answer would be yes- that her appt to a federal govt position is inappropriate. Am I correct. And while you’re at it here’s just one of her controversial positions.

Cecilia Munoz of the National Council of La Raza makes the same point in a more sophisticated fashion; the word “conveys a sense of forgiving someone for a crime,” she says, when in fact, crossing the border illegally is a civil offense, not a criminal one. A quick look at Title 8, Section 1325 of the U.S. Code shows this to be false: Illegal entry into the United States is a misdemeanor on the first offense, and a felony afterward.

Now Fred………….those that like sushi and broccoli may think that those that like pizza and jelly are strange…………..you may be the strange one :)

I’ll re-post this here after having it over on the last illegals topic from this columnist.

Undocumented workers received refundable tax credits totaling $4.2 billion in 2010, a dramatic rise from less than $1 billion in 2005, according to a September 1, 2011 report by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration. At issue is use of a tax break based on earned income called the additional child tax credit, which taxpayers can claim to reduce their taxes owed, sometimes gaining them a check from Uncle Sam if their tax obligation goes below zero. The report states that the payment of federal funds through this tax benefit appears to provide an additional incentive for aliens to enter, reside and work in the United States without authorization, which contradicts federal law and policy.

According to a 2010 cost study by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), the estimated annual total of the costs related to illegal immigration that taxpayers must bear on the federal, state and local levels in $113 BILLION. Of that, $84 BILLION at state and local levels. This breaks down to approximately $1,000 per tax-paying American household. An average 27 percent of this dollar figure has to do with the administration of justice, while 16 percent are public assistance expenditures. Twenty-one percent go to medical care and an estimated seven percent support education.

And JV, that tax problem, having now been identified by a government inspector general’s report, ought to be fixed as rapidly as possible.

I’ll pass on commenting about the FAIR claim, which is far less well documented.

Well, if there’s going to be discrimination it ought to be by us against them. After all, we’re the majority because—well, there’s more of us. That’s why the appointment of this Kent guy is OK but Obama’s appointment of this La Raza person ain’t.

Let’s admit it, we need somebody that’s willing to go to extremes to get rid of the illegals. We ain’t getting nowhere with this moderate approach. The illegals just keep coming and coming. Every one of the jobs these illegals have could be held by a unemployed Redneck. Only for higher pay, of course. And shorter hours.

Just the other day I was in a cashier line at WalMart behind this big Mexican woman with four kids all dressed in fancy jeans and Gucci loafers. She had the best cuts of steaks and even lobster tails on the counter. She pulled out a wad of food stamp vouchers that would choke a horse and said OK when the kids held up some expensive chewing gum they wanted. Then she adjusted her expensive bracelets and pushed her cart out of the store. I was behind them in the parking lot and they all piled into a Mercedes-Benz S-car and drove off. I felt downright poor, standing there holding my bag of fried pork skins and the pair of white socks and underwear for my monthly bath.

This Kent’s OK by me. I want to be the one with all the expensive cuts of meat someday.

100% agreed. From reading your column, this guy is bad news. Extremists like him shouldn’t be in public office.

Jay,

Need a few minutes. Reading his columns. The fact that you think an executive of a race baiting organization like la raza is credible speaks volumes about your consistency and your own credibility. Hell you probably thought the appoinment of a noted communist like Van Jones as a green czar was also an appropriate appointment. But I’ll get back to you shortly on Phil Kent while I read his columns that you cited.

I think all of Congress should be individually psychologically evaluated, and thrown out immediately if found to be psycho. Should get rid of Joe Walsh, Bachmann, and Allen West at least.

Doom: Thanks for the heads up on NCLR. I’ve spent the last thirty minutes or so reading up on them. What a great group. If i come across some extra money I may just send them a donation. To me it’s painfully obvious that you on the otherhand know nothing whatsoever about them except from the twisted smear campaign employed by the radio talk show hosts and right wing fanatics.

I see nothing in their goals and aims that is counter to basic American philosophy. Quite the contrary. I would say they do an admirable job in educating “La Raza Cósmica” on their rights and responsibilities to this Country.

You really should educate yourself on them and not take some whack jobs word on them.

This new neo-con Georgia governor is imperious and ethically challenged to say the least.

He apparently feels he can keep appointing and helping get positions for his sleazy buddies to some of the highest offices in the state, with no consequences whatsoever.

Tragically, given his myopic, soft-on-crime base, he is correct…

Did you notice I didn’t say “Beohner and Cantor?” Beohner is old school and generally reasonable too, except when he’s got his arm twisted. Cantor is just an ass.
