Bachmann: God demands attention to tea party message

Michele Bachmann, campaigning in Sarasota, Fla. over the weekend:

“I don’t know how much God has to do to get the attention of the politicians. We’ve had an earthquake; we’ve had a hurricane. He said, ‘Are you going to start listening to me here?’ Listen to the American people because the American people are roaring right now. They know government is on a morbid obesity diet and we’ve got to rein in the spending.”

Oh, I get it. If he’d said you “are” terrorists, that would have been bad, but in the simple mind of you liberals, only saying you’re “acting like” terrorist is ok? What a pathetic group of exucuse makeing sheep you are.

Just curious… Don’t terrorists earn their title by “acting like terrorists” too? What’s the damn difference?!!

Those radical Republicans. Talking about God.

Because as we all know, it is the Republicans that have gone to the extremes, never the Democrats.

We have always been a nation that ignored God and didn’t allow God into the government. Those prayers, publicly spoken by Presidents of the past, both Republican and Democrat? They were just allusions. They never happened. The Billy Graham crusades that filled coliseums, making most rock concerts look like a small meeting of close friends? Never happened. it’s just propaganda. ANd if they did, the religious zealots caused massive riots and killed people. That’s it. They were beating up Black people and gays and Billy Graham was egging them on.

The Democrats have kept a steady line, never wavered from the same course they have always held. They have not gone to the far, far left like so many Republicans say that they have.

Religion has never been allowed to be part of American celebrations. It was never called the Christmas Holiday, it was always called the Winter Holiday. Easter was about a bunny rabbit that lays eggs, not about anything religious.

Yes sir. The Democrats have not gone to the far, far, far, far extremes of their party. It’s been the Republicans who are wanting to take our country to the extremes that we have never been before.

God Bless Ameri . . . Er . . . . Mother Earth Bless America. Yea, that’s it. Mother Earth Bless America!!!

Scout, I the truth is; we don’t know who took down bin Laden. ever hear of a little government trick called “disinformation”? (or better yet, compartimentalization) if it serves our purposes (in terms of counter-terrorism) to tell everyone “the SEALs did it” or “SEAL Team Six, which doesn’t exist; did it” that’s the story we sell. chance are, not even Biden knows the true identity of “the shooters”. in fact, it is entirely possible we crashed the ’secret stealth helicopter’ on purpose to send al Qeada, Pakistan and by proxy; China on a false trail. or, let me put it in terms you and the other neo-cons can understand; it’s like telling the media and citizens we are invading a country to find/destroy WMD, or to avenge 9/11; when really the motive was something entirely different.

If this had been Bush’s long lost uncle, Bookman and then Tucker, would have broken their pencils getting this into a thread. Seems that Uncle Onyago, Bozo’s long lost uncle who left Kenya about 25 yrs ago had a blood alcohol of 0.14, just a bit above the legal limit, and nearly hit a patrol car because he was drunk. He had just come from the Chicken Bone Saloon in Framington, MA where he apparently was swilling a few before driving home. He had been held, like Aunty Zeituni, on a deportation warrant but released earlier. Aunty Zeituni is now occupying government housing in MA and is no longer on the deportation list. Wonder why. Uncle Onyago will no doubt enjoy the same result. He seems to have been in this country for over 25 years as an illegal. You just can’t make this stuff up.

I like to think of him as George W. Bush without all the encumbering intellect. I give it three months before media snoops catch him in bed with Michele Bachmann. The two of them will claim it was all right because Jesus was there as chaperone and anyway, “…alls we did was watch the Vikings-Cowboy game….”

Oh these sons and daughters of the high corn! Make no mistake (to borrow a favorite war cry from the presidential cheat sheet), both of these heartland bozos are dumb enough to lead America straight into the graveyard of failed states. Imagine a summit between Rick Perry and whoever succeeds Hu Jintao – the incredulous side-glances of the Chinese leader and his interpreter when Mr. Perry presents the official gift from our nation: a miniature Bible made by the inmates at Stringfellow State Prison and “prayed over by qualified preachers twenty-four hours a day!” Or how about Michele Bachmann and Vlad Putin. Adam,

Just because some people believe the minimum wage should not be raised above a certain level does not make them immoral, nor does it mean that they don’t believe businesses should be regulated. I believe there should be a minimum wage to combat collusion among businesses, but it should not be related to what some people term “a living wage”. Also, businesses should be forced to provide certain working conditions for all its employees.

It is not nor should it be the concern of a business to pay someone what a liberal thinks they need to live at a certain level. The job belongs to the business, not the person. What the person owns is their ability, experience, and motivation.

Businesses and “the market” will never be moral in the sense you talk about. They should follow the law. One of the things liberals always say, and they are exactly right about, is that you can’t legislate morality. I find it hilarious when they then turn around and try to take the moral high ground when someone disagrees with them on issues like the minimum wage or entitlements.

Bosch,

I think a minimum wage is necessary to avoid collusion among businesses in a similar industry or a monopoly from artificially holding down what the market will bear. It is an example of the proper role of government to regulate business. I think it would be appropriate for it to be tied to the cost of living, which I think some states do. I also believe there should be standards for working conditions (safety, age restrictions, overtime, etc.).

I think the “living wage” argument is bogus and arbitrary. A person with minimum skills should not be paid more than what they are worth to the business they are working for. The desire by some to force businesses to treat their employees beyond what is required by law leads to higher unemployment. Businesses exist to make a profit, and the government exists (among other things) to ensure they do that in a way that does not harm society. Both are necessary, and neither is wrong. Raising the minimum wage beyond what the market would bear DOES harm society because it leads to higher unemployment. It also discourages those who are able to keep their jobs from improving their skills.

YES INDEED, AGAIN…..When tax rates in 1953 were 93% on top marginal income earners…CEO’s moaned and groaned and complained….But they didn’t leave the country…!!! That’s because they cared more about America back then than about the almighty dollar….!!!! The more old, smell, moldy corporations that leave this country…the more opportunities for fresh, exciting, pro-America start-ups….!!!!!!

Silly red neck. That was Bush’s fault. Obama is only responsible for good things. And those weeks of delay in acting on the oil spill? Bush’s fault. And refusing the aid of foreign countries that had the largest oil skimmers in the world? Bush’s fault.

It’s sort of easy being a Democrat, isn’t it?

Don’t even have a thread on the topic yet, and one”misguided’ observation.

redneckbluedog, you have misinterpreted my post. I advocate for economic justice, not a plutocracy as do the Republicans.

Only 14% of the American voting public think that this country is headed in the right direction.

UP 3% from November 2008.

Wow, you are sure right. Companies are eeeeeevil!!!! When the government runs out of money, they just print up some more. When companies run out of money, they go away and jobs are lost, so why should they be concerned when the government forces them to almost double wages? They are ee-eee–eeeeevil!!!

And the prices that seem to be going crazy on groceries? Who cares. We’ll just give out more food stamps.

I applaud her publically speaking of faith in God, which many men holding position of leadership and authority are afraid to do.

This is another in a long series of Weird Stuff Right Wingers Choose to Believe.

(Seriously, is there ANYONE in any elected position of consequence in America who hasn’t felt compelled to “publically” speak of their faith in God? I’m hard pressed to think of any American politician of note who so much as acknowledges his/her own agnosticism, let alone atheism.)

kayaker: You’re still not getting it

I disapprove of the job Obama is doing. I don’t think the country is headed in the right direction. This does not make me think that Bachmann or Perry or Romney will put us back on the right path. They will poison the water even more if elected.

Unless you guys nominate Huntsman, or someone else comes along into the field who is actually potentially better, you can pretty much be guaranteed I won’t vote Republican for President in 2012.

If Obama disappoints me on the tax cuts thing again, he can count on my vote going to Americans Elect instead.
