If anybody needs to find me over the next week or so, here’s where I’ll be.
Oh, and you’re going to need a helicopter or a whitewater raft to get there.

Dave R. - Nos. 3000, 4000 & 5000 - what are the odds?
July 29th, 20117:08 pm
And we have a winner!!!!!
out of the blue
July 29th, 20117:09 pm
Brosephus…. This is all i have to say about the republican controlled congress……..
July 29th, 20117:12 pm
I’ll tell you what, when it comes to being made to look stupid here on this blog, you have nothing over me. Dave r “claimed” that a chart was debunked but never factually proved. Citing a 33% poll to use as “fact” well, let’s just say I wouldn’t be that stupid to use as my fact. As far as your concerned, you try to come off as some closet intellectual except in the end you just fall in line with the right wing rhetoric. Your best bet is that if you don’t have something good to say, please feel free to ignore me….
Keep Up the Good Fight!

Another Milestone in foolish non-memorable milestones…………………………………..
July 29th, 20117:20 pm
out of the blue
I’ll do you one better…
This is my feeling about the entire Congress, House and Senate.
July 29th, 20117:22 pm
Mick, since your reading comprehension is lacking in so many ways, I’ll just reiterate your mistakes again for your edification.
The chart was debunked not once, not twice, but three times. And with facts each and every time. That you don’t wish to recognize the facts doesn’t mean they do not exist. That you don’t know squat about statistical analysis isn’t my problem, it is yours. That you cannot use comparative logic is not my problem, it is yours.
As to the poll, you asked for a cite (your mistake in that regard) to my response to your contention that the Tea Party was a small minority of the GOP (I said they had national support of between 30% and 40%). Since libs like you live and die by polls, I figured I’d use something even you might understand; a poll showing that 33% of Americans support the Tea Party principles. YOUR only problem with that poll is that it provided exactly what you asked for (a cite – a poll being acceptable by even our host as proof) that disproved the point you were trying to make and made mine exactly.
Stop being a Boehner and quit your crying, ya big crybaby.
Would you like some cheese with that whine of yours?
July 29th, 20117:28 pm
No sh*t Little Beaver (smiley face) You out did me on that one….Tell me how you actually feel!
I’m in the mood for some mellow music!
July 29th, 20117:31 pm
I’m beginning to believe in reincarnation. Or rising from the dead. It’s almost like Harry Callahan has returned…… with just a tad of restraint…..
Guess he’s back to learn the lessons in a Buddhist kinda way.
July 29th, 20117:33 pm
Maybe we can rename the Capitol Building…
Seems to describe it quite well, don’t cha think??
July 29th, 20117:36 pm
Debunked three times by whom? You? The guy who gives himself a hand for being 5000? Grow up and learn how to be civil, this is not war…
July 29th, 20117:37 pm
out of the blue, Brocephus
I’ll go ya’ one better. And it’s even set to music!
July 29th, 20117:39 pm
Here’s a “fact” for ya-
July 29th, 20117:41 pm
I tip my hat to you sir. That’s funny as hell!!!!!
“The chart was debunked not once, not twice, but three times.”
And the Zapruder film proved that JFK shot first.
July 29th, 20117:43 pm
The silence is deafening-
July 29th, 20117:44 pm
Paul, I Just watched Hollywood Knights for the umptheen time. And still I laugh my ass off!
July 29th, 20117:45 pm
It’s from the 1980 flick “The Hollywood Knights.” Starring very young Tony Danza, Michelle Pfeiffer, Robert Wuhl and Fran Drescher. Kind of a cross between American Graffiti and Animal House. Heck, I think I may watch it tonight.
July 29th, 20117:46 pm
“The company countered in documents that the employees violated attendance rules, loitered and resisted work. It also said all employees are guaranteed the same wages, but some earn more because they work faster.
Hamilton Growers officials declined to comment when reached Friday.
Leah Lotto represented the workers in the legal dispute. She said the government’s findings “demonstrate the lengths to which growers will go to avoid hiring a U.S. work force in favor of more easily exploitable H-2A workers.”"
This just goes right along with what I’ve been saying for years, it has nothing to do with how “exploitable” foriegn workers are and everything to do with how lazy, entitled, and worthless the “native” workers are.
It’s hard to get anything done when you’re texting all day… or when you gotta take off for this, and for that, and need to come in late there, and leave early then…
Ever been to a party, sipped a drink and said “has a nice wang to it”?
July 29th, 20117:47 pm
I haven’t seen that one. It might be worth a peek or two.
July 29th, 20117:49 pm
Here’s coming back to you, paul and brospherus.
Don’t blame me paul you started it!
July 29th, 20117:51 pm
Okay, out of the blue
Brosephus is sucked in. He’s gonna order it.
Pleasant evening, all -
July 29th, 20117:53 pm
Did somebody say wang??
July 29th, 20117:57 pm
Paul … Saw your post after I had posted mine….I don’t think I’d describe it as wang. It was more like warm, and stale beer that one would spit out and say jeebus that tastes like piss!
July 29th, 20117:59 pm
Not to worry, there’s a way around that…
We were talking about teachers the other day. One of the greatest ones I had taught S&G as the finest poets “currently writing in the English language, in my opinion.” She was a WWII Marine, fell out of an air control tower onto a concrete apron with only a few minor bruises…one tough cookie, and a sensitive soul. Taught me English, Latin and French…and stood by my side in an early on “gay thing…”
July 29th, 20118:11 pm
Josef, Simon and garfunkel made music both magical and mystical….When I returned from overseas
the first song to greet me was I am a rock! 1966!
Here’s a littlem, Paul solo.

Showtime boys and girls. The House passed a second bill and Harry ass Reid tabled a bill for the second time. Let us see if the Senate Democrats can do anything but whine. Time for the White House and the Senate to put up or shut up.

Oh my god 101 pages How long till this record is broken
July 29th, 20118:28 pm
I guess if Gallup has Obama at 40% approval and 50% disapproval we’ll not get much from the White House.
July 29th, 20118:32 pm
July 29th, 20118:33 pm
July 29th, 20118:34 pm
“Time for the White House and the Senate to put up or shut up.”
Really? The minority party, the party of “no”, the very men and women who drove the bus off the cliff and refuse to acknowledge any complicity or even knowledge of driving said bus off said cliff, the small minded knowledge hating troglodytes who have held our recovering economy hostage and WISHED for economic armageddon simply to have a better chance of winning the next election have voted to enact a small band aid that leaves us in this very same position in less than a year, they (and you) now DEMAND action on a bill that wasn’t feasible or sensible and that thier own people had to be browbeaten into accepting, and was dead on arrival to begin with? Really?
July 29th, 20118:35 pm
How about a little “Big Spender” comedy for the boys(and girls) on the Hill……………
I hope I am not being naive in saying this, but I hope as Americans, we still have more that binds us than divides us…
The media and politicians don’t seem to want that. imo
July 29th, 20118:37 pm
Be careful of what you wish for and tread carefully, for if you do get your heart’s deepest desires (for the economy to totally tank so you can win the next election) then you own it (even more than you do now)… be crareful what you wish for…
July 29th, 20118:38 pm
July 29th, 20118:39 pm
July 29th, 20118:40 pm
And once you acheive your ends, regardless of the means, you can’t whine about inheriting a bad economy because you wished for it and you worked tirelessly to make it happen, you’ll own it…

Have fun and be sure to insult someone (other than moi). Gotta go stack the $100 bills
July 29th, 20119:24 pm
You guys are funny…….took the whole gang to get us to this point…….we aren’t up against the limit in the first place because we’ve practiced fiscal prudence……………..
July 29th, 20119:32 pm
Obama needs to play this song to congress.
July 29th, 20119:33 pm
Jed, I saw your note the other night about getting together sometime.
I’m good with that and look forward to it. I think we just have to send an e-mail to Jay to OK his forwarding of our contact info.
btw, I’m just a couple of miles away from you based on your zip code.
July 29th, 20119:35 pm
Yow! Love it…one of “our songs” hereabouts…
Yep! That, too!
A true home girl and lots of personal sentiment attached to that one…my sister in law’s Mama was a Streeter from over round Okolona, my birthday’s June 3, and I got the assignment to cover the filming of the movie way back when…
July 29th, 20119:36 pm
Kamchak, no I don’t expect for one second for them to accept any responsibility, they won’t even acknowledge the years of 2000-2008 ever even happened.
And md, this whole debate is over paying the tab for the last decade, or if you’re a “conservative”, paying the tab for the last 2 years, since the previous 8 didn’t happen.
July 29th, 20119:40 pm
And Mick, I’ll school you over the weekend on that bogus chart.
In the meantime, try thinking about how any chart could be valid when you assign a dollar value to a “policy” begun by a particular President (Bush) and give the entire cost of that program to that President when assigning deficit spending.
That would be like assigning all the continuing deficit costs of New Deal policies to FDR and the Great Society policy deficits to LBJ.
July 29th, 20119:48 pm
tongue tied and twisted
July 29th, 20119:59 pm
Big hit in this household. Unmentionable says thanks, he’s leaving later this p.m. to go home to see Mamanym with all that that entails now we’re on up in years, trying to come to terms with what it all means…this, he says, “puts a lot of that Indian sh*t into perspective… “
July 29th, 201110:01 pm
You know what? There’s very little you can “school” me about, so get off your high horse, keep celebrating your numerical victories and be happy with that. I always did have some respect for your political accomplishments, you were elected and carried out a duty, how many on here can claim that? It’s a rough and tumble business and no one will ever please all the people all the time, so do me a favor and save your massive egotistical energy for someone else – I’m not into it.
As for that chart, go debunk it with the new york times, they published it not me…
July 29th, 201110:03 pm
Cheers, josef. A clean cut of that will lift you off your feet, no doubt.
July 29th, 201110:07 pm
Paul, I Just watched Hollywood Knights for the umptheen time. And still I laugh my ass off!
Alright!!! One of my top favorite movies of all time. Me and The Most Interesting Man In the World watch it all the time.

Also, if Fred drops by, let him know that I’m from Jersey. He may need to reconsider taking a swing at me.
Wow, that looks a million times more cheesier than back then…here’s one for you-
July 29th, 201110:26 pm
An obscure song, one that I would like to share with everyone here tonight!

In my top five movies of all time:
Wish I could put up my favorite scene.
July 29th, 201110:48 pm
Here’s movie making at its finest, no cgi, explosions or special effects-
I’ll second that, Mick. Without all the crap, the writers and directors are forced to develop the characters and story lines. Too easy to just blow something up.
Get to tell me what to do.
July 29th, 201110:49 pm
with this song I’m Gone!
July 29th, 201110:55 pm

July 29th, 201110:56 pm
Do you suppose Beyonce even knows these lyrics are pure theft?
July 29th, 201111:00 pm
I’m surprised Fred only offered to take a swing at you and not me. If Fred ever offers to take a swing at me I’ve got a simple 4 word response.
Time and place sir?
July 29th, 201111:01 pm
Great party song-
July 29th, 201111:03 pm
Gee doom, such a tough guy and what pray tell would you be trying to prove? Sounds pretty stupid…
July 29th, 201111:12 pm
No. I’m not that tough. I just don’t take any sheet. You now? You’re not only tough but braver than the members of the light brigade. I warned you to stay away from Dave R. so as to not let the man further embarrass you and you just keep going back for more? Are you a glutton for punishment? You’re like the child that got his hand smacked putting it in the cookie jar. Then you go back every 2 minutes just to get your hand smacked all over again. What’s up with that?
July 29th, 201111:14 pm
Thulsa, chill dude.
Don’t let them get under your skin.
Kill’em with kindness…
July 29th, 201111:16 pm
Anybody having problems with google? I think its broke because every time I google President Obama’s specific plans on his deficit reduction plan nothing comes up. I could google other stuff but when I then tried to google the Democratic led Senate’s budget plans for this year, the year before, and the year before that nothing comes up. Is google broke or do you think maybe google just doesn’t like the Democrats since it won’t show their plans to deal with the debt?
July 29th, 201111:17 pm
Heck I’m calmer than a Hindu cow. I’m just having fun with them.
google my ass.
July 29th, 201111:20 pm
See, this is where we part company, I could give a rats arse if you want saddle up with dave r as your but buddy and I also could care less if you think that somehow you are right in your delusions, just leave it be. You brought it up again after I defended social security and medicare (opinion), why does that bother you so? Doesn’t bother me if you disagree but then you just had to add some insults just as you are attempting right now – who needs it?
July 29th, 201111:24 pm
July 29th, 201111:31 pm
Dave R. is not my buddy. We disagree often and on quite a few things. I’m merely suggesting that you quit bringing up that ridiculous chart so that he will quit blasting you. The statistical flaws in that chart are so ridiculous that its hard to fathom someone placing credibility in them. I pointed out the same flaw that Dave pointed out in his 9:40 post. There’s nothing delusional about that obvious point. Still haven’t seen a credible response to that simple point.
And I don’t think you have room to talk about insults. You’ve lobbed them daily at me with no provocation whatsoever. I’ve always treated you with respect when you are cordial but otherwise when you’re not- which is often and as I said always unprovoked, I’ve always treated you in the same fashion that you treated me.
July 29th, 201111:34 pm
A few years ago one of the regulars here used one of their sock puppets to say that they just wanted a chance to smack a conservative in the mouth. I offered up my schedule for the day and the sock puppet folded, but the sock puppet’s other sock puppets immediately decided I was being provocative.
All I can take from that is that leftists are an extremely timid lot.
July 29th, 201111:39 pm
I think I was pretty cordial in my response to your nanny state post. Didn’t insult, didn’t bring up dave r, which you have been constantly referencing. As I told dave r, if you think that chart is bogus take it up with the new york times who published it. I really didn’t have a problem with you but man, give it a rest about the other night, it’s just not that important. I’ve been on here a year and a half and I can guarantee that I’m not looking for an insult pissing contest, OK?
July 29th, 201111:44 pm
I don’t think it was that long ago that a similar thing happened. About a year ago or less keep and one of the cons had words and were going to meet at Starbucks at Northpoint mall to ahem, say something to someone’s face. The conservative of course got banned and keep of course got to stay on. The guy wanted to have a conversation in the parking lot and keep of course wanted to meet in the mall at a starbucks.
The worst I’ve had was that I told Debbiedoright that water boarding is sure as hell unpleasant but that its not torture on the scale of gouging eyes out, cutting off hands, noses, ears, etc. Her response was that she challenged me to let her and some friends water board me as part of a charity to raise money. I said cool. Bring it on and told her that I had a charity I do on St. Patty’s day every year and that we could combine the 2. My charity raises money for children’s cancer research at Children’s cancer center. I put no stipulations on it. And of course she never followed up. She also threatened another time to have some brothers shoot me up with Tec-9s after they collectively kick my arse. Nice gal she is.
July 29th, 201111:48 pm
Just out of curiosity, when was the last time you were in an actual physical fight? If you are over 40, then I’d say it’s most likely a lose, lose proposition. A real fight bears no resemblance to a staged movie fight…
July 29th, 201111:56 pm
I’m cool with that. If you have a comment to make to me in the future I can handle some good natured ribbing but if its a kamchak kind of comment than of course I fight fire with fire. Otherwise I’m respectful of people who are respectful of me and you won’t get any unprovoked snarky comments from me. No insult pissing contests is fine with me.
On the chart I’ll say one disagreeable thing about it but with respect. The NY times is no longer an objective paper. Its been a far left publication for quite some time now which also partly explains its sagging sales and readership. Many cons view that pub with the same disdain that the libs view Rush Limbaugh. And just because they publish a chart doesn’t mean its God’s spoken word any more than if fox news publishes a chart. They have an agenda just like a conservative paper or pub like Newsmax for example. I’m just pointing out that that piece and chart are incredibly statistically flawed.
One simple example that should be obvious is the point that I and Dave made about assigning different deficit costs. If you’re going to assign the war costs under Obama as well as Part D medicare drug costs to Bush instead of Obama then you might as well assign every federal program from SS to Medicare to Medicaid to the creation of the EPA, the SBA, the Dept. of Education, everything really you must logically assign the cost of that program to whatever president it came into being under.
July 30th, 201112:05 am
Fine, I disagree with you equating the nyt with rush limbaugh, they are not in the same ballpark. Limbaugh is an entertainer, the times at least was once referred to as the paper of record. Aside from that, the chart itself is just a snapshot and a general one at that. I’m not refuting yours and daves conclusions, see how easy that was? No insults necessary, but check this out:
Over at the Campaign for America’s Future, the Institute for Policy Studies’ (IPS) Sam Pizzigati notes that one way to very easily tackle U.S. debt going forward would be to increase taxes on corporations and the wealthy to levels more closely matching mid-20th century rates. Pizzigati cites an IPS paper from last spring to make the argument that if corporations and households making more than $1 million paid the same rates as they did in 1961, our debt would virtually disappear in a decade:
Some numbers — from an Institute for Policy Studies report released this past spring — can help us better visualize just how monumental this political failure has been. If corporations and households taking in $1 million or more in income each year were now paying taxes at the same annual rates as they did back in 1961, the IPS researchers found, the federal treasury would be collecting an additional $716 billion a year. In other words, if the federal government started taxing the wealthy and their corporations at the same rates in effect a half-century ago, the federal debt to investors would almost totally vanish over the next decade.
As has previously reported, the richest Americans are paying their lowest taxes in a generation. Additionally, Center for American Progress experts Michael Linden, Seth Hanlon, and Jordan Eizenga have shown that the United States is actually very low-tax compared to other developed countries.
July 30th, 201112:22 am
I didn’t write those last three paragraphs, forgot the quotation marks. I’m starting to fizzle out anyway, glad to have buried the hatchet, gonna call it a night…
