If anybody needs to find me over the next week or so, here’s where I’ll be.
Oh, and you’re going to need a helicopter or a whitewater raft to get there.

The first person to post an ABBA song should be banished into blog purgatory.
Just sayin’ !

So are the zygotes created during a rape or incest not human? Why do you make exceptions to murder them and not others?
When “you” start down that road, there can be only one destination: there is only ONE person who is truly “pure”
I’ve been waiting to see who that turns out to be.
New show for 2012 Survivor Island: Tampa Fla. The GOP Convention.

Paul will not be amused!

I’m afraid so.
I’m not one for sharing pain but I really have no say in this.
He just had to do a backpedal. Was asked about NY’s gay marriage law and he said ‘it’s in NY, fine with me” and con groups went ballistic. He had to repeat about his view of states doing what they want but had to put in some pablum for the con groups. At least he’s consistent on one point.
But I guess if he does run he won’t be able to say a criticism of Romney’s health care in Mass, right?

We’ve already heard from the barbarians this morning.
You trying to add heathens in the afternoon?

You’re my hero today.
And a symbolically fitting song, too!

I was hoping Doomed Janus was on today so that I could heckle him a bit. Since I think I’ve figured out who he is, and where he lives….
I had a couple of appointments this morning but I’m here now. So if heckling is what interests you then be my guest and heckle away. I would prefer discourse rather than degenerating into the gutter but I’ll leave that choice clearly in your court.
So you think you’ve figured out who I am and where I live? Its pretty disturbing that I occupy so much of your mind and thoughts that you are going to lengths to try and figure out who I am and where I live. There are definitely some cyber stalkers on here but you definitely sound like a real life stalker and hence the somewhat veiled threat that you “know where I live…..”. If you have an oconee county address then you’ve got me pegged. Doesn’t bother me though since I’m locked and loaded if a real life stalker shows up at my door.
If I get under your skin so badly in our encounters then you really need to look inward and ask why you allow me to rent space inside of your head. Its just a blog and its not healthy to let someone mentally own you like that to the point of wanting to find their identity and home. Even the liberals on here would agree that that is warped.
Its probably healthier for you that you avoid me completely but if you do choose to engage then do so in a civil manner and I will kindly return the favor. No need for the 2 of us to degenerate into namecallling and gutter blogging. Can we at least agree on that?
July 29th, 20111:39 pm
Well, his entry should really make the three ring circus complete. As tony soprano would say, “what are you gonna do?
July 29th, 20111:40 pm
Thanks Paul! I had a feeling you’d appreciate it.
YMCA, worse song known to mankind. ABBA pales in comparision.
July 29th, 20111:41 pm
I thought maybe if you come back to this blog on Sat. afternoon or evening, and if you would like me to, I will connect those seemingly disconnected thoughts regarding spiritual understanding.
Cool!! A date with ME this Saturday night!!
I’ll have to let you know. I have to throw out one of my tenants this weekend and I have a feeling that it’s going to get ugly. Probably one or both of us may end up in jail before it’s over.
“three ring circus ”
Three?! I’ll be glad when they get DOWN to three!
July 29th, 20111:42 pm
Even the liberals on here would agree that that is warped.
What I find “warped” is when someone is so preoccupied with me that they post as a gerbil.
**I have to throw out one of my tenants this weekend and I have a feeling that it’s going to get ugly**
Oh man, been there and done that….that’s why I keep rocco and vinnie on retainer…

This is why cons love Abba:
Gingrey just went yes to Boehner according to the Political Insider.

Most recent Gallup that polls all voters not just registered or likely now has Obama down 10pts. Those who approve at 40% and those who disapprove at 50%. It seem now that every time he steps up to the microphone and speaks to the public his approval goes further South.
July 29th, 20111:47 pm
“It seem now that every time he steps up to the microphone and speaks to the public his approval goes further South.”
Maybe that means he’ll take Florida…
Paul – indeed!

I’da thought an ex-military guy like you would admire a man who sticks to his principles and does what he thinks is right, in spite of opposition from others and putting service to country above benefit to self.
Redneck Convert (R--and proud of it)
Well, it’s been a real lazy Friday for me. No weird music swapping today because Bookman’s out of town. That means no big-time hauling and lugging to get you all ready.
Are we busted yet? Heck, it’s August 2 only a couple days from now and there’s no releif in sight. Looks like the Weeping Boner can’t get the young privates in line. It’ll be New Years Day before they get anything brought to a vote in the House.
Got the PBR, got the fried pork skins, and got the two machine guns and anti-tank weapon I keep for hunting and self-defense. Let ‘er rip. Life is good. Can’t wait till August 3 and I can drive by the power co. and give them a bird or two or three. Then it’s on to the gas co.
Have a good Friday everybody.

Since I don’t want to spend time in purgatory This I guarantee is not ABBA!
A Tea Party cat?

“Since I don’t want to spend time in purgatory”
You’re safe, I took the hit of being first!
It’s not just obama going south – it’s the whole fam dam gov’t of the US – we look like third world amateur hour…
July 29th, 20111:52 pm
Sorry but I never have. I’ve just seen someone else do it in the past regarding gerbils- Jay can go back in the archives and verify for you that it was never me posting as kamchaks gerbil. Veiled threats such as “I know where he lives….” are in a whole different category. If you can figure that out. Well. Then again maybe no.
July 29th, 20111:53 pm
And if Obama steps in and ends this stalemate his approval will shoot up
July 29th, 20111:54 pm
“in spite of opposition from others and putting service to country above benefit to self.”
Hmmm…hence the insistence on 2013…………..I think not.
Jefferson, agreed. On both counts.
Though I may have a completely undeserved blog reputation as a hyper-opinionated, agitating ass (LOL at me!), I do not rag on people’s musical choices.
However, with that said, if any of you knuckleheads start playing ______________ and _________ and _______________ again, (I don’t dare write who they actually are, but you know!) I will have to use the nuclear musical option! And trust me, you do not ever want to see that.
So manup and play the sweet stuff, boys and girls!
Last night, the rock and roller, Mick played an old Dion and the Belmonts tune.
They are mentioned in this Kinks classic…

“’da thought an ex-military guy like you would admire a man who sticks to his principles and does what he thinks is right, in spite of opposition from others and putting service to country above benefit to self.”
Paul I’ll admit to being in that 50% but I was only sharing some news of the day. Don’t shoot the messenger.
“No weird music swapping today ”
Redneck Convert posted that after the ABBA music got posted, so it’s official. ABBA is not weird music.
The Great Arbiter has spoken.
So to all you tonally challenged: thbppppttttttttttttttttt!
July 29th, 20111:56 pm
TD–Hope you caught the tail end of my midnight foray with Fred. He really got me by proclaiming that I didn’t know the difference between a sheet rock screw and a 16 penny nail.
On a more serious note, I was a little disturbed by DDR’s unveiled threat to you. I’ve enjoyed blogging with her and cutting up, but that crosses a big line in my book. It’s a blog, for Chrissakes. Get a grip, people.
But Recon posted his actions are causing his popularity to go down, that he’s consistent in that.
How can that be if he’s angling for the self-benefit of an election? Seems like you two are engaging in conflicting stories!
July 29th, 20111:57 pm
“ABBA is not weird music”
The musical “problems” for me is when I like the voice, but not the song. Or I like the music, but not the voice.
July 29th, 20111:58 pm
More like Venezuela if they’d take him. ISMH
“Though I may have a completely undeserved blog reputation as a hyper-opinionated, agitating ass (LOL at me!)”
You couldn’t be more wrong, friend.
It’s completely deserved!
And JamVet–What’s this swipe at my theorem being arcane????
The truth is, once you strip away the “arcane” language, it’s really a very simple statement. With profound implications.
hell even at that approval rating President obama is what….nearly 30 points higher than congress?
no worries mate, he’ll be here for you to belittle in 2013
(that is, of course if the O of O doesn’t slam your fanny in a reeducation camp first!)

Back to the grindstone……
July 29th, 20112:00 pm
BTW I read your 12:04 post regarding the answer and all of those stuff on the axises came back to me. Pretty simply actually but also pretty easy to forget. The explanation in laymen’s terms was really good. I’m surprised you had the restraint you had with mr. fantastical who lobbed more personal assaults on you and Harvey Mudd than Carter has peanuts.
As far as relativity goes I understand that pretty well and saw a good special on it from discovery that explained it well in laymen’s terms. If I’m going 80 and someone is going 83 and passing me then even though they are going 83mph it seems to me they are going at a much slower rate because its all relative as he passes me going only 3 mph faster.
Also I did not know this till a year or so ago but mathemeticians have to calculate time for the satellites orbiting above earth because time up there is different. Its off by a fraction of a second because as Einstein pointed out time and space are warped. This may be simple knowledge to you but to me and others on here its interesting little tidbits like that that make science and math interesting on a conceptual basis.
Anyway did you ever provide the full answer or are you waiting on Mr. Fantastical to solve it?
July 29th, 20112:05 pm
Hey ya Bruno! Good luck with your eviction- that’s why I got out of the landlord or slumped business!
July 29th, 20112:06 pm
On a more serious note, I was a little disturbed by DDR’s unveiled threat to you. I’ve enjoyed blogging with her and cutting up, but that crosses a big line in my book. It’s a blog, for Chrissakes. Get a grip, people.- Bruno
Yes. It certainly is a veiled threat and I suspect that if I emailed this to Jay he would certainly have her banned. But she enjoys the blog and I wouldn’t want that to happen. I would rather her have her free speech even if it comes at my expense. We’ve had a few nasty go rounds where we’ve both been uncivil to each other. But hopefully she will read this, put things in perspective, and we can move forward on a more mutually respectful basis.
Bruno, Thulsa Doom,
That was quite a shoot out you guys had with the Fred last night. I’ve followed a few of his posts and he starts out sounding like a rational human being then after a few hours he gets off the wall with personal attacks and transparent BS about himself. Must get deeper into the sauce as the evening wears on.
July 29th, 20112:07 pm
B, as one of the Clint Eastwood characters once said, “A man has to know his limitations”.
And though I was once an academic whiz kid, it was in the dark days of slide rules and the very first mathematical calculators. Whatever acumen I had in those areas, is long gone. I could probably pick it back up, but right now, anything beyond high school algebra, might be a stretch!
When I was in the service, my very first roomie was a 27 year old UCLA advanced math grad (he enlisted in the USAF to avoid being drafted into the USA or USMC). He was brilliant in terms of connecting philosophy, mathematics, etc.
That was my first time delving into big time cosmic debris…
WTF? Make that slumlord business – damn smart phone trying to spell for me!

Good to hear from you. I’ll go ahead and post a few thoughts which I think may interest
you. You can read them later. I know you’ll be with me “in spirit.”
TO: SHROEDER’S CAT -
I’ll finally answer your question as to whether various religions help or hurt, at the same time.
I’ll be brief, fellows!! Promise!
July 29th, 20112:26 pm
“They attached a balance the budget amendment to get the votes on a doa bill.”
You know what just KILLS me about this? Last night I heard a bit of an interview with some GOP rep who said the voters elected them to come to Washington and get things done! Does wasting time count as “doing” something?
July 29th, 20112:28 pm
Yeah it was crazy. The madder fred got the more fantastical he got with his claims of a photograhic memory, he turned down MIT and Cal Poly, he taught himself algebra and Calculus as well as the piano, and of course he read all of the hundreds of books on a reading list and directly rehashed quotes from several of them at random to the teacher. Then he couldn’t answer that math question from Bruno and he just went batty with the insults and personal attacks. I mean major meltdown. But ya know it was Fred that just kept digging the hole deeper with the fantastical exploits.
July 29th, 20112:29 pm
Here’s what a balanced-budget amendment would mean to the people who live in reality:
Next time a hurricane, earthquake, tsunami, or flood destroy an entire American city and displace tens or hundreds of thousands of citizens, the government has a limited dollar amount with which to help, and cannot borrow another penny to help the survival of people who were paying taxes a week before, but may never be fortunate enough to pay taxes again. Next time some azzwipes attack our citizens and destroy a bunch of office buildings and airplanes in the name of their religion or whatever, the government will have a limited dollar amount with which to respond and fight our enemies, and when it runs out, will either have to equip our soldiers with WHITE SURRENDER FLAGS or just force them to fight without pay and without weapons.
That’s the reality, so it’s completely understandable if y’all want to entertain the fantasy.
July 29th, 20112:33 pm
Seems things have slowed here a bit, animal lovers will enjoy this-
July 29th, 20112:34 pm
So, whazzup? Looks like folks seem to be in a fairly decent mood…but it IS still early on a Friday and a FNM topic doesn’t appear in the offing from the jefe del blog…
Boehner’s plan is a joke, and doesn’t do anything.
Here is plan that is serious about cutting the debt, and getting us back on the path to fiscal responsibility.
July 29th, 20112:36 pm
You have always been supportive of me and what I am about, and here’s a compliment to you, in return. As I said last evening, your rough edges are only surface. What is important is the essence or soul of a person, and I think you are a good man who is, no doubt, a loving husband and father.
Thank you for your voiced support of me on this blog when I needed it.
July 29th, 20112:37 pm
Paul…..personally, I think all the forays onto the airwaves makes him look silly. We aren’t the ones he needs to convince or negotiate with…….and I think many just want him to get his booty into that smokefilled backroom and get something done………..
Im confused….maybe i’ve missed some updates somewhere, but whats the point in going thru all this hustling for votes in the House for a bill thats DOA and doesn’t ensure our AAA credit rating?
All For Show?
Talking Head: Your points are incorrect. Raising minimum wage, extending unemployment benefits during a recession and aftermath, and “universal” health care are all GOOD things. Also, none of those things by themselves cause joblessness or the other negative effects you said they did.
Health care costs, for instance, are going up anyway. The health care insurance companies still, as a free market, can set their prices any way they want. And they can TELL you that it’s all because of a law that hasn’t been fully implemented yet. It’s nonsense.
Unemployment benefits are a reaction to joblessness, not a cause. There is a limit to them, and people in this economy do not immediately get a job once their benefits are over because, as cons seem to think, they aren’t looking because the pay from UI is so good.
Minimum wage is still far below inflation. If companies decide to lay people off because of it, then they are doing themselves a disservice. inflation and prices have risen a lot faster than minimum wage, and nearly every business offering minimum wage for work can afford to keep all those workers as the wage rises.
And with that, I say again, new cons don’t know how to run a business.
July 29th, 20112:38 pm
Keep your hands of those farm subsidies. My food stamps depend on them.
July 29th, 20112:39 pm
Just don’t get Fred started on things French!
July 29th, 20112:41 pm
Matti…you may want to actually read how a BBA would work……emergencies , wars, etc are exceptions written into the legislation…………
A bit like that theatrical bill passed by the dems called Pay-Go…..we’ve been in perpetual emergency mode since the day it was passed.
July 29th, 20112:44 pm
Milton Friedman said it best. When you raise the minimum wage you are forcing a business to engage in charity.
July 29th, 20112:45 pm
josef @ 2:39
Yes, I know, josef. Once I started to respond to Fred with “merci beaucoup” and decided I better limit that to “merci” and hope!
The dems heard the people calling and are using it in their arguments in the debate.
Kingston is heavily medicated .
No gop hanging out for this debate.
The dems win the message war.
“All For Show?”
Correct….it is ALL a show. The misfits are all performing for their various audiences…….their job depends on it.
July 29th, 20112:48 pm
So you agree it would be a pointless amendment? Thanks for straightening me out again. That just means that the GOP House posers are holding our economy hostage on a pretense. I can only conclude it’s for their own political posturing, and they don’t actually give a rat’s fuzzy about what happens to you and me. That’s right, Hon. They have equal disregard for both you AND me. That’s gotta sting! Bless your heart.
July 29th, 20112:49 pm
The fun part is that Fred is fluent!
I have never seen the first compelling statistical proof that raising the minimum wage is deleterious to the overall economy.
Yet raising executive salaries dozens and hundreds of times the rate of workers is somehow wonderful for the nation.
The voodoo economics that enable this new American plutocracy are insane. And what is even more bizarre is how people advocate AGAINST themselves merely because they are told that this is good for them.
Take a good look around and sell that trickle down cr@p somewhere else…
Is it 2012 yet
July 29th, 20112:50 pm
You Liberals/Democrats/Progressives or whatever today’s moniker is just slay me, all of you are so blind to the real problem, spending, that you can not carry on a constructive conversation without attacking the other party. You are too blinded by your own political biases that you refuse to even listen to what they have to say. It is much easier to sit behind a computer and spew your hatred rather than trying to have a real debate on the issues.
“Minimum wage is still far below inflation. If companies decide to lay people off because of it, then they are doing themselves a disservice.”
Maybe, maybe not…..that is not a broad brush subject. It depends on expenses in relation to profit….if raising the labor expense causes losses, then the option is to lay off…….raising the minimum wage means more for everybody except the one that has to go…..
And like it or not, our minimum wage puts us even further away from those around the globe that have very low labor rates.
July 29th, 20112:53 pm
ME – I believe it was my comment about how all religions are exclusionary to some extent, and whether that made them closer to or further from G-d. Particularly their G-d..
I’ll check in over the weekend
July 29th, 20112:54 pm
The house is not in order as the dems cheer speeches.
July 29th, 20112:56 pm
“So you agree it would be a pointless amendment?”
I see nothing wrong with a BBA…….and not too sure why the dems don’t either. Wasn’t the point of Pay-go to make sure we had the money before we spent it??
Now, they are against it?? Must make sense to somebody…………..
July 29th, 20112:57 pm
Minimum wage laws hurt most the least qualified and, generally, the poorest, most disadvantaged workers. These are the workers who would be ecstatic to get a job at $5 per hr. but are beat out by higher-qualified workers who wouldn’t want a job at $6 per hr. but are fine with the minimum wage at, say, $7 per hr.
To give an unfair advantage to a select few, minimum wage laws violate the right to contract of both employers and the poorest unemployed. Also, they reduce the total number of employed people. A million dollars in wages can pay for 3,571 workers at $7 per hour (for a 40-hr work-week) but 5,000 workers at $5.
Doggone, Paul, you still here? I think we have our first hegehog to pester.
July 29th, 20112:58 pm
“I see nothing wrong with a BBA…….and not too sure why the dems don’t either”
Maybe because it would be about as effective as the debt ceiling is?
Is it 2012 yet,
I’m game, please do start a constructive conversation vis a vis the “real problem”.
I’m all ears and ready for your real debate on this issue.
July 29th, 20113:00 pm
Is it 2012 yet,
You may want to listen to your own advice dude. No LIB, Dem, etc or what you named them as does not agree that our govt has had a spending problem. I dont think these a lib, dem or whatever on this blog that disagrees with you there, but the difference is fixing the problem. We all agree as Libs, dems, etc that we need to cut spending, yet we also feel that if you’re going to cut Trillions of dollars from programs, we need to at least generate some also. And as you know, big corporations are paying little to no taxes and making BILLIONS in profits. Whats wrong with closing TAX loopholes for these corps that make them pay their fair share??
Definition of convoluted logic–see Talking Head @ 2:57
July 29th, 20113:01 pm
Head, with all due respect, your analysis of the minimum wage is interesting but frankly, useless.
I asked for compelling proof to corroborate your original claim, not more claims…
Minimum wage is just basic math………if one has 200 to spend, how many can one hire @ 5, 6, 7??
40, 33, 28…………..that’s a lot of folks put out on the street…………….
July 29th, 20113:03 pm
here some emperical evidence for you
July 29th, 20113:04 pm
“Maybe because it would be about as effective as the debt ceiling is?”
Then what’s the big deal??
Seems they work around whatever they put in place, so go with it and play the end around game later………..
July 29th, 20113:05 pm
“Then what’s the big deal??”
Since it has no chance of passing anyway, it IS no big deal.
July 29th, 20113:06 pm
I guess the Mayans were on to something with that date thingie. DC’s going bat shiite crazy, and I expect it to begin spreading throughout the rest of the world. There appears to be evidence of spread already just by reading some of the posts here this afternoon.
God bless the republicans. As jeff sessions said, the TPers didn’t start the fire, they just rang the alarm.
July 29th, 20113:08 pm
josef – “Definition of convoluted logic–see Talking Head @ 2:57″
That would be true if he wasn’t right
Economist Thomas Sowell has cited studies showing that decades ago black employment, especially among younger black males, was substantially higher when there was no minimum wage vs the introduction of the minimum wage and consequent raises in the minumum wage. And what’s amazing is that this holds true regarding black employment from a long time ago when wholesale discrimination against blacks was taking place.

Skipping Social Security Payments May Prevent Default — But Cause Disaster-
July 29th, 20113:10 pm
“Since it has no chance of passing anyway, it IS no big deal.”
Which is silly…….putting their foot down on issues that don’t much matter……….just part of the theatrics on both sides……..but it is what they live for…….they play the game yet don’t have to really suffer any meaningful consequences……….
Just saw the econmic news stating that for the spring quarter that the nation’s economy grew at a dismal 1.3% rate and that the current qtr we are in could be even worse. The Obama recession is about to be realized.
July 29th, 20113:14 pm
You hurting the liberals with FACTS again? They don’t like that.
I see nothing wrong with a BBA
If we have to alter the Constitution just to control spending, we have a much bigger problem that we can solve. Anybody that can’t comprehend spending will increase as long as the population and inflation increases is 11 screws short of a dozen. That doesn’t mean that spending has to take off like John Force on the 1/4 mile either. Trying to cap spending by some arbitrary number will probably do more to harm this country as opposed to simply demanding people pay for what they desire.
If you want the greatest military in the world to protect your ass, then pay for it yourself, and quit letting China pay for it. If you want subsidies to aid companies, then pay for them. It’s very easy to blame the spending you don’t like while ignoring the spending that you ideologically agree with. We see that all the time with the whole welfare argument. How much of the entire budget does welfare spending make up when compared to defense spending?
