Ah the tiny exception, trips up history yet again. If it weren’t for those damn exceptions!!

The polls seem to indicate that the public is hopping mad at both sides of the aisle in Congress and don’t see 5 cents worth of difference between them. Obama’s problem is that they’re mad at him as well.

Gee, Lipitor, Plavix, and about eight other popular drugs will lose patent protection this fall. I wonder if Medicare Part D will still be required to pay the pharmaceutical company’s brand name price, or will it be permissible for covered people to use the generic medication?

Hello sports fans.
Did you know that Barack Obama has received more donations from Wall Street this year than in 2008?
Yezzz, that’s right sports fans.
So, sports fans, what’s the moral of the story?
Very! Good! Sports fans. I KNEW you could do it. You’re RIGHT of course that Obama has received more donations from Wall St than in 2008 because Wall St. campaign contributors are NO DUMMIES! That’s right. They KNOW a friend when they SEE one.

I caught the 100-year error when I re-read the post, josef, and I apologize.
I had been on Lipitor for many years until my physician switched me last year to a generic called Simvastatin, which seems to work just as well in my case. Lord! That $4 per pill price gouged a lot. When you see the lowest dosage advertised in Sam’s Club for $110 for a month’s supply, you know you’re feeding the dragon. I don’t use Plavix (my wife does), but I do use TriCor, another expensive cholesterol drug coming off patent this fall. Now if someone would do something about the outrageous price of Actos, a drug for diabetics, I might be able to see financial survival on the horizon. Worse, my insurance plan puts Lipitor, TriCor, and Actos in Tier III, involving the highest co-pay.

“will I be glad to see both Plavix and Lipotor go generic”
You will do better than Plavix with two fish oils per day — they both do the same thing.
I wouldn’t take Lipitor (or any statins) if you had a gun to my head. My belief (as always) there is no such thing as “high cholesterol.” You are guaranteeing that you will likely die from congestive heart failure due to weakening of the heart muscle. Statin drugs also dramatically increase the risk of dying from cancer.
With congestive heart failure, the heart cannot pump enough blood and the lungs fill with fluid. The patient drowns in his own fluid.

U.S. Can Avoid Default at Least Until September, Wells Fargo’s Silvia Says
The U.S. government can avoid a default for at least a month after the Aug. 2 deadline to lift the debt ceiling set by the Treasury Department, said John Silvia, chief economist at Wells Fargo Securities LLC.
“The Federal Reserve and the Treasury can work together to generate enough cash probably for the next two or three months to avoid any kind of automatic default on the Treasury debt,” Silvia, who is based in Charlotte, North Carolina, said in an interview on Bloomberg Television’s “In the Loop” with Betty Liu. “There’s a way of getting around this issue for at least another month or two.”

Democratic Rep: Debt Crisis Has Been ‘Manufactured by House Republicans’
(CNSNews.com) – Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) released a statement Monday saying the “debt crisis” has been “manufactured by House Republicans” who are “attempting to advance an extremist agenda.”
“The current, so-called ‘debt crisis’ has been completely manufactured by House Republicans attempting to advance an extremist agenda. This should be a simple vote to allow the US Treasury to fund all of the programs and obligations of the entire federal government that are already in the law,” said Rep. Lee in a statement handed out to reporters before a Democratic press conference on jobs at the Capitol.

Some are forecasting that the 010 anti-incumbent uprising was nothing in comparison to what’s being predicted to happen in 012. Could be a blood bath for both parties. May not be a bad thing. Used to be in our two party system both sides would of course poke at each other, but when it got down to crucial matters like what we’re faced with now, they would find ways for reasonable compromise. Not anymore.

I’ll be the main one out there trying to persuade everyone to dump all 537 of them if they don’t get it together soon. I can understand the need to posture and do the whole Electoral Shakespeare thing. However, the mindset of people today isn’t like it was even 20 years ago. Back then, people understood and knew that pols were blustering and would end up making the best of what they could. Now, you have people who watch to see which hand a pol uses to scratch his balls. If he uses the wrong hand, that’s a sign of weakness and he must be challenged by somebody even more radical in the next primary.
If we, the people, don’t stop this crap and get a grip, the 1860’s are gonna look like a Sunday afternoon stroll in the park compared to where we’re headed.

I’m not a certified historian, but from what I’ve read about the atmosphere back then in comparison to today, things don’t look that good. There was division back then that was just as bad as it is now. The big difference is that neighbors were still neighbors and states were still together. Today the division runs so deep, it could be neighbor vs neighbor or even two family members going against each other.
We’re just so involved in the day-to-day that most people don’t see it. You only have to sit back and objectively look at the interactions here, and you can see it live and in real-time.

I think he’ll say that he came into office inheriting this financial mess. He will say that he’s worked diligently to get the country back on track but the House Republicans influenced by Tea Party radicals have made good faith compromise impossible. He will say that the economic health of our country is paramount but in serious jeopardy because of this radical obstructionism. He’s now being left with very little choice but to take drastic action in the best interest of our people and our country.

Has anyone found out what church this supposed Christian rightwinger in Norway attended? I keep seeing him portrayed as a Christian and while he may say he is I can’t find anything about a church that he regularly attended.
What I do keep seeing is that he wrote about paganism, he lifted quotes directly from the manifesto of the Unabomber who was an ultra left anarchist guy, and he wrote about uniting Jews, Buddhists, and Hindus against the Muslim threat that he perceived. Sounds like he was just an anti- Muslim who is angry over the problems that Europe is having with Muslim immigration. As far as being a real Christian I don’t see much evidence of that-only a media attempt to portray it as so.

“Police in Norway must get authorization from their chief to gain access to firearm…”

Well, I’m glad to know this Muslim Kenyan is off the air finally. I get tired of turning my back to the TV and putting my fingers in my ears to keep from listening to this junk. Can’t he make his speeches in the day time when most of us ain’t watching TV?
Anyway, I’m headed to bed. I got more hauling and lugging to do tomorrow. I guess somebody on here will let me know when it’s alright for me to stop paying taxes and such when the guvmint shuts down. All I know is we got the libruls by the short hairs and are pulling hard. Have a good night everybody.

I am willing to bet hard earned money that the cowardly murderer hasn’t attended a Christian church service in many winter moons…
Frogner Church Oslo Norway.
I won’t accept checks.
Cash only, and small bills.
However, I suspect you’ll welch on the bet.

How can Obama start off by bragging about how Reagan signed a debt limit increase 18 times and then go on to tell us these things can’t be done in a few month increments? I wonder how long he thinks Reagan was President.
By the way, congrats to the Monday morning day shift for moving this number along.

Thulsa: “Has anyone found out what church this supposed Christian rightwinger in Norway attended? I keep seeing him portrayed as a Christian and while he may say he is I can’t find anything about a church that he regularly attended.”
I think part of the confusion here lies with the difference between our more American conception of Christianity as a private matter and the more European history where religion is tied to the cultural identity of the nations. Don’t know much about this individual in Norway, but everything I hear about him confirms this view and in this sense Christianity plays a role not much different than paganism. Which by the way was probably also true of someone like McVeigh.

but calling him a Christian extremist serves the purposes of a certain element. But then, what’s new?-Uncle Jed
How true. The moral equivalency and politically correct crowd that views that the acts of one Christian wacko every decade or so equals the acts of several thousand Muslim terrorists over the same time span. You can’t make this stuff up- these people really see moral or shall I say immoral equivalency.

And when Obama asked us if we knew what the American people were the most fed up then paused like he was waiting for an answer I bet I wasn’t the only one that said, “you.”

LWM,
My point is just that he’s just a nut and not much of a Christian to begin with. He’s certainly anti- Muslim more than anything and in his writings he opined that everybody else- Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, and Christians should align themselves against Muslims because of the fact that Muslim nations tend to oppress minority religions.

According to Boehner, the spending binge is caused by a health care law that hasn’t been fully implemented, and a stimulus that barely did what it was intended to do. Also, apparently only the president walked away, only the president said no to plans, and only the almighty House of Reps can pass a plan with BIPARTISAN support (which apparently means most Republicans and a total of 5 Democrats. FIVE).

We got to balance the budget! The Only Way we can do that is to reduce Medicare! Forget about reducing defense spending! Even though defense spending accounts for almost 75% of our deficit each year.
Friends, this is a big hustle! A big “hurry up” to deprive you of what you have paid into your entire life. In neither of these discourses is defense spending even mentioned even though defense spending accounts for nearly 50% of all taxes collected.
Sheer lunacy! And you young, cavalier people, you who despise Medicare, you’ll be sorry when you get old and have to try to buy health insurance when your 65, 70, 75 years old! You’ll see!

Right out of the gate Obama started with the blame Bush card. How predicatable. Course it has nothing to do with the fact that when Bush left we were at 10.3 trillion in debt and are now at 14.3 trillion in debt- 4 trillion added under Obama in what? 2 1/2 years? If Bush was a spender then Obama is a super mega spender.

I heard the POTUS speak….yawn. Strange, though, it seems as though he just positioned himself to the left of liberals like Harry Reid. He won’t support Reid’s plan. Centrist my arse. Hilarious.
