I do find it amusing that the focus of so many rants (big bad rich corporatists) tend to get a pass if some of their money is funneled in certain directions………if they were really true to their ideology, they wouldn’t need but a fraction of what they have…….

Simple read through it again, but there is nothing compliated in what I wrote.

The idea is that YOU are one of the main people who ask for “proof” or a link.

However it seems you only ask those things of right leaning posters, while you seem to never ask for proof about any of the ramblings or accusations labeled at fox by many posters here.

My question is are you honestly concerned about the accuracy of things written here or are you only concerned about accuracy involving things and ideas YOU support.

Unless you have some proof of you standing up and demanding sources of any of the things said about Fox on this blog, I mean they should be right there in the archives.

Or are you suggesting that all of the material posted on here about Fox that you have read has been without a question accurate?

Did that clear it up?

Jay typically does a pretty good job of providing documentation that adequately supports his statements so perhaps that is why I don’t usually feel a need to ask for documentation from him. The cause of death was intoxication from a muscle relaxant, an anti-psychotic drug and two pain medications, followed by smothering.

Police say video cameras captured their fateful encounter while Leiby’s mother waited anxiously just a few blocks away. Detectives later found the boy’s severed feet, wrapped in plastic, in Aron’s freezer, as well as a cutting board and three bloody carving knives.”

Why do we need caucuses based on race or gender?”

Perhaps the usefulness is over now, but the cons will never, ever, ever even acknowledge the historic need for affirmative action or any other single policy to assist in the remediation of wholesale torture, subjugation and murder of the black people.

As evidenced by the fact that their entire political party will not elect people of color. Much less give them a handup?

I understand that after the Civil Rights Acts of 1964 and 1965 the playing field was level and all of the innumerable racial injustices were instantly evaporated. (eye roll)

When will GOP leaders do more to address minority issues other than legislating more prison time for criminals?

Or affirmative action.

Why is Black unemployment always about 180% of the normal unemployment level?

Or a Black History Month.

When will history books accurately depict the contributions of Blacks in the building of America. When will Blacks in history books include people other than Harriet Tubman, Fred Douglass, GW Carver, and MLK? When will kids learn about the Blacks who fought on both sides of the Civil War? What about inventions and inventors????

I appreciate the history but how long are we going to march over Edmund Pettis bridge in Selma?

WE will continue to march until we are one America, “E Pluribus Unum” and ALL Americans have the same opportunities to participate in social and economic America. As far as the generalization about most Black teenagers, you’d be surprised that there are many who are still actively participating in bringing about the changes that have not happened yet.

Rep. Pete Stark (D-Cal.) has probably made more revolting statements directed at conservatives than any other Democrat politician. He called former House Ways and Means committee chair Bill Thomas a “c–ks—-r.” He belittled married Republican Congressman Scott McInnis, “You little fruitcake. You little fruitcake. I said you are a fruitcake.” He referred to Rep. Nancy Johnson (R-Conn.) as a “whore” for the insurance industry and said her knowledge of healthcare came from “pillow talk” with her physician husband. He told former Health and Human Services Secretary Louis Sullivan, who is black, that he is “a disgrace to his race and his profession” because he opposes Stark’s liberal positions on healthcare. He falsely said that former Rep. J.C. Watts’ (R-Okla.) children were born out of wedlock. Nothing has happened to Stark and he continues to get reelected to Congress.

You keep close tabs on Nader. Do you have any knowledge of this taking place:

CBC to Lean on Nader

By Erin P. Billings
Roll Call Staff

June 21, 2004

Members of the Congressional Black Caucus will meet privately with independent presidential hopeful Ralph Nader on Tuesday afternoon to tell him in no uncertain terms that they want him out of the race. The CBC asked for the sit-down with Nader in April at the urging of Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.). The 39-member group wants to personally urge Nader — widely blamed for Democrat Al Gore’s narrow defeat in the 2000 presidential race — to abandon his White House bid.

CBC lawmakers, on the verge of formally endorsing Democratic Sen. John Kerry (Mass.) for president, said they fear a repeat of 2000 this fall. Members said by staying in the race, Nader will hurt Kerry’s chances and secure a second term for President Bush. The CBC chairman, Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), said the group is committed to electing a Democrat to the White House and feels to that end it is critical to reach out to anyone who might be “blocking those efforts.”

Cummings said the CBC will try to impress upon Nader on Tuesday that while the independent candidate and Kerry have differences, they are minor when compared to the differences between Nader and Bush. “Hopefully, Mr. Nader will look at the big picture — that being he wants the country going in a much different direction than the country is going in now. We will ask that he not be an aider and abettor to anything that might be harmful to the Kerry campaign.”

One CBC member said the meeting with Nader will likely be a “very direct and blunt conversation.” Others said they expected the session to be “hard hitting” and that the group will not approach Nader with kid gloves.

Jay @4:33 pm

See, Jay, I could have written the same paragraph with the other slant, that being that George Soros represents everything that is considered evil by the left: he’s a billionaire (circa 14.5B, who *needs* that much money?), he’s a hedge-fund manager, he spends millions of dollars to support his political party taking full advantage of Citizen’s United ruling to use his mouthpiece website to promote his agenda, a self-made “master of the universe” who once cleared $1B *profit* in *one day* by manipulating currencies, was convicted of insider trading (in France) etc. And I bet he uses a small army of tax accountants and attorneys to avoid paying his “fair share” of taxes.

But none of that matters to anyone on the left, because he’s on their team. Although Paul Krugman is not exactly a Soros cheerleader: “[N]obody who has read a business magazine in the last few years can be unaware that these days there really are investors who not only move money in anticipation of a currency crisis, but actually do their best to trigger that crisis for fun and profit. These new actors on the scene do not yet have a standard name; my proposed term is ‘Soroi.’”

Personally, I have nothing against Mr. Soros, for all the reasons you listed. The only problem I have is that he exemplifies the hypocrisy of the left when they revile just about everything about Mr. Soros except for the fact that he funds their causes and not the other sides. I suspect that similarly, if the Koch brothers were donating to the Democratic party, no one on the left would be spitting on them as if they were the devil’s minions.

“When will GOP leaders do more to address minority issues other than legislating more prison time for criminals?”

It’s not our fault that blacks or minorities commit the crimes.

“Why is Black unemployment always about 180% of the normal unemployment level?”

Because ya’ll are lazy and shiftless.

“When will history books accurately depict the contributions of Blacks in the building of America. When will Blacks in history books include people other than Harriet Tubman, Fred Douglass, GW Carver, and MLK? When will kids learn about the Blacks who fought on both sides of the Civil War? What about inventions and inventors????”

Because those are the only three noteworthy folks in ALL history, well if we go worldwide MAYBE we could add Shaka Zulu. I mean they made a movie about HIM didn’t they?

WE will continue to march until we are one America, “E Pluribus Unum” and ALL Americans have the same opportunities to participate in social and economic America. As far as the generalization about most Black teenagers, you’d be surprised that there are many who are still actively participating in bringing about the changes that have not happened yet.

Yeah really? And the BET, Miss Black America, those racists Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are helping this how?

Man that was too easy. Did I get all the answers right like “they” would give them if they had the balls to actually come out and say what they feel?

I feel you Bro. You are just touching on my as yet thoughts on why we still need affirmative action.

Speaking of Citizens United (I did, right there a few postings ago!)…

I subscribe to some liberal sites, and as a result get regular emails from them and their affiliates. I recently received an email from PublicCitizen.org. Now, PublicCitizen.org is a 501(c)(4), who’s primary purpose seems to be opposing the ruling handed down in the Citizens United case.

Recall that the Citizens United case hinged on the fact that a 501(c)(4) corporation produced a movie that had a political purpose, in this case a documentary “Hillary: The Movie” that was intended to highlight Mrs. Clinton’s shortcomings at a time when she was running for president. Initially, this movie was the subject of an injunction as a prohibited expenditure of corporate monies for political purposes, which the Supreme Court rules was a violation of the First Amendment saying in effect that corporations, unions (this often is left out) and other organizations have a free speech right to promote their political opinions.

The email from Public Citizen was urging me to donate money to support their production of a documentary highlighting how bad the Supreme Court’s decision in Citizens United was, in their opinion.

That’s right: a 501(c)(4) corporation made a movie with the express political purpose of protesting the Supreme Court decision that said that a 501(c)(4) corporation could make a movie with an express political purpose!

Quote from the email “Support Public Citizen’s fight against runaway corporate power with a contribution of $40 or more today and get your own copy of “The Story of Citizens United” on DVD.”

As for the notion of “runaway corporate power” it doesn’t exist (yet?). We’ve seen that in the spending profiles from opensecrets.org that corporate spending comes in *way* behind unions in that regard.

Brosephus,

If blacks were not committing so much crime, they wouldn’t have to worry about how much time they spent in prison. The GOP has nothing to do with prison sentences of convicted black criminals anymore than the Democrats do.
Unemployment figures?…. Without an education, it is hard to find a job. That’s not the GOP’s fault, my friend. Has more to do with bad choices. One in three potential HS graduates nationwide drop out, regardless of ethnic group. Many are black, where the rate is much higher.
“We will continue to march over Selma bridge until we are one America” I am not sure how to interpret that but we have the chance to be “one America” most of the time without calling attention to the fact that we are not “one America” but indeed, two Americas, one black and one white.
What is is going to take, Brocephus, for us to get on the same page? It is the biggest single problem that this nation faces, hidden just below the surface, where hate, victim hood and resentment linger. Bozo had a great chance to begin to heal this racial divide but he chose to try to make this a socialist country instead. Can you imagine what he could have accomplished attempting to bring us together? We need someone or something to bridge this gap. We’ve needed that for a very long time.

You misunderstand completely the reason that Soros is an enemy of the right. It has nothing to do with him being a capitalist, or “predator” to use your perjorative. Just curious: is anyone successful in business a “predator” or is that some idiosyncracy particular to finance where someone who buys low and sells high is prima facia, maligned in your columns.

The Cox family, via the ajc, bought the Gwinnet Daily News many years ago to simply shut it down.

kayaker @ 7:39,

I’m forced to agree about the Prez. He is monkeying with racism all the time, never addressing it directly like his supposed stature and background promised. Much of Eric Holder’s rhetoric off-camera (and some on) seems to linger around the “my people” branch of history and logic.

As far as so many black Americans not finishing high school, I find that simply pathetic. High school isn’t even a worthwhile credential anymore. Here in the construction field, if you’re a college grad, you might be able to get a job doing something more than digging ditches–maybe. The fact that anyone is lamenting that many people not passing high school is lamentable in and of itself.

The education system in this country shows a very weak-minded and very very poorly qualified work force. Perhaps it also shows how unwilling people are to work as well.

However, Watts’s tenure in the leadership proved difficult. Despite his elevated post, Watts often felt alienated by GOP decision makers.44 He also found himself at odds with powerful Republican Whip Tom DeLay of Texas. Watts disagreed with DeLay’s often forceful leadership. As a result, the GOP Whip’s hands-on approach to gathering votes and maintaining party unity often overstepped Watts’s role as the hub for communication within the GOP Conference. In July 1999, Watts threatened to resign from his leadership position to protest DeLay’s alleged encroachment on his duties, but he stopped short of doing so. When Majority Leader Dick Armey of Texas announced his retirement in 2002, Watts considered running to replace him and he quietly solicited the aid of congressional allies; however, DeLay nailed down enough votes to secure the position before Watts made an open bid for Majority Leader.45

Watts also felt ignored by Republican President George W. Bush’s administration. In 2002, the Pentagon considered eliminating funding for an $11 billion weapons system that would be partially assembled in Watts’s district in Elgin, Oklahoma. Watts later claimed that President Bush refused to return his phone calls after targeting the project for spending cuts. When Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld announced the program’s demise on May 8, Watts was only given two hours’ notice from the Pentagon. An early and avid supporter of the Bush administration, Watts was furious. When the President addressed the Republican Conference on Capitol Hill the next week, Watts was conspicuously absent.

In 2002, Watts declined to run for re-election to the 108th Congress (2003–2005), citing a desire to spend more time with his family.

but Stark wasn’t nowhere near a bigger jerk than Delay.

It was during that time that one of Delay’s henchmen attacked Watts about his illegitimate children.

Just can’t remember the guy’s name.

Without an education, it is hard to find a job. That’s not the GOP’s fault, my friend. Has more to do with bad choices. One in three potential HS graduates nationwide drop out, regardless of ethnic group.

Care to expound why college grad Blacks are the last hired and first fired? or did they make the bad choice to further their education? Interesting percentage there with the 1 in 3…

The national dropout rate is notoriously hard to pin down, and the latest effort to do so – showing alarmingly low graduation rates in some parts of America – is likely to intensify the statistics wars.

Nearly 1 in 3 high school students in the Class of 2006 will not graduate this year, the Editorial Projects in Education (EDE) Research Center reported Tuesday.

[...]

“Our research paints a much starker picture of the challenges we face in high school graduation. When 30 percent of our ninth-graders [ultimately] fail to finish high school with a diploma, we are dealing with a crisis that has frightening implications for our … future,” says Christopher Swanson, director of the EDE Research Center.

The trouble is, it may not be accurate.

[...]

Others, who see such studies as overblown, were as quick to denounce it. “Swanson’s measure is seriously inaccurate,” says Larry Mishel of the Economic Policy Institute and author of another study on dropout rates. “It’s … inappropriate for comparisons across states and school districts, the reason being that his formula is very much affected by how much grade retention there is in ninth and 10th grade. Any school that retains students in ninth grade is automatically going to look worse, whether graduation rates really are lower [there] or not,” he said of the new report.

His own report, based on the US Education Department’s National Educational Longitudinal Study, suggests that in 1992, 78 percent of students received a regular diploma, rising to 83 percent by 1994. For African-American students, whose graduation rates lag behind the US average, the figure rose from 63 percent to 74 percent over that period.

In fact, education experts say, none of the existing dropout-rate data gives a full picture. Governors are making changes that will yield better counts within a few years, they add.

Very dated material from 2006…

If you wanna know what it’s gonna take, it’s gonna take effort from EVERYBODY to quit trying to boil things down to a Black/White issue. Sad thing is, for many older people, I think it’s so ingrained into the everyday actions that we will have to have a few more generations die off before things really change and we truly become one as a nation.

Kids that are born now do not automatically have that fear of other races or people who don’t look like them. They learn those behaviors from older people like us. People see me in regular street clothes and think nothing but the worst possible thing. When they see me in uniform, it’s a 180 degree different reaction. Obama never had a snowball’s chance in hell at bridging the racial divide in this country. In another 60 years or so, things would probably be different, but you still have people alive who lived Jim Crow.
