“The President believed the distraction over his birth certificate wasn’t good for the country. It may have been good politics and good TV, but it was bad for the American people and distracting from the many challenges we face as a country. Therefore, the President directed his counsel to review the legal authority for seeking access to the long form certificate and to request on that basis that the Hawaii State Department of Health make an exception to release a copy of his long form birth certificate. They granted that exception in part because of the tremendous volume of requests they had been getting.”
Or as Obama himself put it this morning:
“We don’t have time for this kind of silliness. We’ve got better stuff to do.”
This changes nothing, of course. The birther nonsense was born out of a deep conviction in some quarters that Barack Obama “ain’t one of us,” that he is not merely unAmerican but anti-American, and that his presence in the White House is an insult to this nation’s heritage.
The birth-certificate controversy was merely that sentiment given literal form. Even after this, the sentiment will remain; the cynics who preached it and profited by it, and the fools who believed it, remain with us as well.
Donald Trump, for example, just took credit for forcing the release — “I’m very proud of myself,” he said — but he then doubled down on his foolishness, refusing point blank to acknowledge that this ends the controversy and instead demanding to see Obama’s academic records.
Birtherism was, and is, a symptom of something fundamentally gone awry in the national psyche. And this doesn’t fix it, not by a long shot.

There has to be a second one. Are you trying to tell me all this damage could be done by one BC? Let’s examine the path. First, the doubters released evidence that O wasn’t a citizen, greatly damaging his reputation. Then the White House released a statement denying it, deflecting the controversy. It then traveled through website after website, causing confusion and concern. But it still wasn’t through with it’s path of destruction. The White House releases the official BC, and finally lodges in Donald’s brain. That is too much damage for one BC to accomplish.

It’s happened before. My alma mater had to increase it’s minority (White) enrollment. All one had to do was graduate high school and apply, and you were given a full scholarship. It was a slap in the face to those who worked hard to earn a full scholarship, but in the grand scheme of things, it was a good move by the school to give out those free rides. The increased minority enrollment allowed a lawsuit against to state to be ruled in favor of the university. That led to an increase in state funding.

And it took Obama so long to show the birth certificate why? Like I’ve said many times before I always believed he was born in the U.S. and that this was a non-issue. I think the exploding debt, rampant inflation, gas up for the 36th straight day are far more substantive issues than the birth certificate deal.
Obama could have put all this nonsense to rest a long time ago. He could have been more “transparent” like he talked about in several speeches.
Face it libs. The real story here is that Donald Trump flat out bullied Obama and that’s what you guys are really mad about today. The Don ate his lunch and made Obama say uncle.
