They granted that exception in part because of the tremendous volume of requests they had been getting.”
Or as Obama himself put it this morning:
“We don’t have time for this kind of silliness. We’ve got better stuff to do.”
This changes nothing, of course. The birther nonsense was born out of a deep conviction in some quarters that Barack Obama “ain’t one of us,” that he is not merely unAmerican but anti-American, and that his presence in the White House is an insult to this nation’s heritage.
The birth-certificate controversy was merely that sentiment given literal form. Even after this, the sentiment will remain; the cynics who preached it and profited by it, and the fools who believed it, remain with us as well.
Donald Trump, for example, just took credit for forcing the release — “I’m very proud of myself,” he said — but he then doubled down on his foolishness, refusing point blank to acknowledge that this ends the controversy and instead demanding to see Obama’s academic records.
Birtherism was, and is, a symptom of something fundamentally gone awry in the national psyche. And this doesn’t fix it, not by a long shot.

We have no right to see them and no legitimate interest will be served by anyone having access to his school records, Until a biracial man was elected, yes go choke on it, he was legally elected, no one had to prove anything. Wow, this is a first. I have read all 1080+ posts on this blog today. I NEVER read all the posts. But watching the birthers squirm has been quite enjoyable.

I beg to differ. I always got money back on taxes before I got married and so did my wife. Once we got married and filed jointly we have to pay every year. Deductions, etc. all being the same.

Damn that Hillary Clinton for ever starting all of this birther stuff in the first place! Personnally, U think Obama’s place of birth is the least of the very long list of his core problems. Of course, his supporters will dwell on that one piece of stupidity to cover for all of the other problems with him. That is what liberals and poilitical hacks do. And as evidenced by his choice of churches to attend on Easter Sunday, it appears he must really, really not like us white folk very much at all. I don’t understand why though. He has had nothing but support from some very influential and some very well financed white/liberal people and corporations. If you look at it closely, they made him. What concerns me the most is do they seem to control him and his decisions all in the interest of their own greed. Just look at his cowtowing to Soros, GE, GM and the unions. Nothing more needs to be said.
And has anyone heard him say one word about the lives that have been lost and the enormous amount of damage that the South has had to endure due to the tornadoes in the last 3 weeks? Not a word. I guess those states that don’t vote for him don’t deserve any mention. It is not hard to figure this guy out.

Actually, you DON’T know that. People who file “single” pay MORE perperson than a couple pays PER PERSON, when they can file as married. I don’t know if it still is, but it used to be called the “marriage discount”
