Even in NJ, Christie no threat to Obama

Winner, duh!

Winner, duh!

“I have people calling me and saying to me ‘Let me explain to you how you could win.’ And I’m like, ‘You’re barking up the wrong tree. I already know I could win.’ That’s not the issue….”

– N.J. Gov. Chris Christie, discussing and rejecting a possible run against President Obama.

However, according to the latest Quinnipiac poll, the people who know him best disagree:

“New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says he isn’t running for president, but New Jersey voters do not believe Gov. Christopher Christie’s claim that he would beat President Barack Obama in a 2012 White House run and back the president over the governor 52 – 39 percent, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today. President Obama also tops Gov. Christie in job approval and likeability….

Bully,” “arrogant,” “good,” “aggressive” are among words offered when voters are asked, with no suggestions given, to describe Gov. Christie in one word. Answers include:

* Bully – offered by 140 voters
* Arrogant – offered 41 times
* Good – 41
* Aggressive – 39
* Strong – 35
* Tough – 34
* Determined – 30
* Honest/Honesty – 28
* Excellent – 27
* Bold – 16
* Courageous/Courage – 16
* Trying – 15
* Effective – 13
* Forceful – 12 “

It is always a slow day at the Bookman office when he writes a column using polls about a fictional match-up 18 months before an election with a non-candidate as the subject.

Oh it’s the same cycle we’ve had for decades. Democrats get in office and really screw things up…But feel good about themselves while they do it. Then we have to elect a Republican to fix the mess the democrat made. After he fixes things, suddenly the republican is a bully and needs to be replaced with a democrat…

Well, this would be the case except for the Bush’s. It’s almost unfair for Obama. Usually a democrat inherits a better situation than he did. Now his screw ups are amplified by the fact that it was already screwed up when he got the job.

Sure they have………but they have huge mass transit systems as an alternative……and geographically, it is much easier to get around.

One just has to look at the last run-up in oil prices to see the decline in consumption…….folks will not pay it…..either by choice or force (pocket book). Folks walk, take marta, bike, car pool, etc to avoid that cost………..and as soon as oil goes back down, it’s back in the car.

Off Topic but worth mentioning,

It was announced today that Bozo had appointed 15 people selected by him, bypassing Congressional approval again, to form the Individual Patient Advisory Board. This board has been formed to review individual Medicare claims as to whether the claim is justified, warranted or legitimate. It falls to reason that cases reviewed will be the ones costing the most money. So, it appears that 15 government appointed Bozo hacks are going to decide whether Medicare will be responsible for the claims of individual patients. Sarah Palin was one of the first to decry this crap and she was called more names than Bookman has published threads for calling out Bozo and his cronies and calling it a death panel. What would you call it Bookman?

Well, I’m planning on switching to wind power once gas gets too expensive. I’m going to mount a sail in the bed of my F-150 but I will have to modify my travel routes to avoid some of those low overpasses and power lines. Fortunately, thanks to the mechanical properties of Kevlar and Mylar, I can maintain a decent weight to cross-sectional area and avoid the need for multiple masts like on some of the old schooners. Steering and braking are still a little bit tricky without the power assist from the engine though.

Off topic, but…

From a friend…

ONLY A MAN
WOULD ATTEMPT THIS

Just try reading this without laughing till you cry!!!

Pocket Tazer Stun Gun, a great gift for the wife.
A guy who purchased his lovely wife a pocket Tazer for their anniversary submitted this:

Last weekend I saw something at Larry’s Pistol & Pawn Shop that sparked my interest. The occasion was our 15th anniversary and I was looking for a little something extra for my wife Julie. What I came across was a 100,000-volt, pocket/purse-sized Tazer.

The effects of the Tazer were supposed to be short lived, with no long term adverse affect on your assailant, allowing her adequate time to retreat to safety…

WAY TOO COOL! Long story short, I bought the device and brought it home… I loaded two AAA batteries in the darn thing and pushed the button. Nothing! I was disappointed. I learned, however, that if I pushed the button and pressed it against a metal surface at the same time, I’d get the blue arc of electricity darting back and forth between the prongs.

AWESOME!!! Unfortunately, I have yet to explain to Julie what that burn spot is on the face of her microwave.

Okay, so I was home alone with this new toy, thinking to myself that it couldn’t be all that bad with only two AAA batteries, right

There I sat in my recliner, my cat Gracie looking on intently (trusting little soul) while I was reading the directions and thinking that I really needed to try this thing out on a flesh & blood moving target.

I must admit I thought about zapping Gracie (for a fraction of a second) and then thought better of it. She is such a sweet cat. But, if I was going to give this thing to my wife to protect herself against a mugger, I did want some assurance that it would work as advertised.

Am I wrong

So, there I sat in a pair of shorts and a tank top with my reading glasses perched delicately on the bridge of my nose, directions in one hand, and Tazer in another.

The directions said that:
a one-second burst would shock and disorient your assailant;

a two-second burst was supposed to cause muscle spasms and a major loss of bodily control; and

a three-second burst would purportedly make your assailant flop on the ground like a fish out of water.

Any burst longer than three seconds would be wasting the batteries.
All the while I’m looking at this little device measuring about 5″ long, less than 3/4 inch in circumference (loaded with two itsy, bitsy AAA batteries); pretty cute really, and thinking to myself, ‘no possible way!’

What happened next is almost beyond description, but I’ll do my best.

I’m sitting there alone, Gracie looking on with her head cocked to one side so as to say, ‘Don’t do it stupid,’ reasoning that a one second burst from such a tiny lil ole thing couldn’t hurt all that bad.. I decided to give myself a one second burst just for heck of it.

I touched the prongs to my naked thigh, pushed the button, and…

HOLY MOTHER OF GOD. WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. WHAT THE… !!!

I’m pretty sure Hulk Hogan ran in through the side door, picked me up in the recliner, then body slammed us both on the carpet, over and over and over again. I vaguely recall waking up on my side in the fetal position, with tears in my eyes, body soaking wet, both nipples on fire, testicles nowhere to be found, with my left arm tucked under my body in the oddest position, and tingling in my legs! The cat was making meowing sounds I had never heard before, clinging to a picture frame hanging above the fireplace, obviously in an attempt to avoid getting slammed by my body flopping all over the living room..

Note:
If you ever feel compelled to ‘mug’ yourself with a Tazer,
one note of caution:

There is NO such thing as a one second burst when you zap yourself! You will not let go of that thing until it is dislodged from your hand by a violent thrashing about on the floor!
A three second burst would be considered conservative!

A minute or so later (I can’t be sure, as time was a relative thing at that point), I collected my wits (what little I had left), sat up and surveyed the landscape.
My bent reading glasses were on the mantel of the fireplace.

The recliner was upside down and about 8 feet or so from where it originally was.

My triceps, right thigh and both nipples were still twitching.

My face felt like it had been shot up with Novocain, and my bottom lip weighed 88 lbs.

I had no control over the drooling.

Apparently I had crapped in my shorts, but was too numb to know for sure, and my sense of smell was gone.

I saw a faint smoke cloud above my head, which I believe came from my hair.

I’m still looking for my testicles and I’m offering a significant reward
for their safe return!

PS: My wife can’t stop laughing about my experience, loved the gift and now regularly threatens me with it!

If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!

No named Republican at this stage will poll well against Obama because each Republican will measure every other Republican against his or her favorite. Let’s look at the facts Obama will have to over come. Since he took office, gasoline price up 70%, gold up 100%, corn up 78%, soybeans up 42%, sugar up 165%, Un-employment up 25%, real median income down 1%, food stamp recipients up 35%, poverty rate up 8.3%, national debt up 32%, inflation up 10%+. Folks these are real and each of us feels it. Don’t take my word for it! All you have to do is go to any grocery store and listen to the people. Listen to the old people trying to figure out how to stretch their fixed income so they can eat. George Bush may have caused some of this, but he darn sure didn’t cause all of it. The man presntly charged with fixing it has not done so and does not have a plan. He is clueless. He doesn’t have the knowledge to run a lemonade stand let alone a country. He is on the road right now trying to change the discussion from his miserable performance by blaming the so called rich. He is so clueless, he actually thinks a family making $200,000 dollars per year is RICH! He has had more than two years to fix the economy. He has spent us into bankruptcy. His grade is F. We his employers will fire him in a little more than a year from now. The fact is he trails in all polls against ANY un-named Republican.

No, he has much better hair than Biden.

Midori thinks Democrat politicians believe strongly in public schools, despite the fact that their own kids have never seen the inside of one.

Harry,
Please prove that President Obama “couldn’t wait” to extend the Bush tax cuts, instead of being pragmatic and compromising…please.

Midori thinks the rich don’t pay their fair share of taxes, despite the fact that the top 1% of wage earners pay 39.1% of all individual federal income taxes.

But then, she gets her news and opinions from Comedy Central, not Fox News…

I’ll point out one other false conclusion in citing this poll between Hope & Punt ™ and Chris Christie.

Christie has a 47% – 46% favorable to unfavorable rating in his job performance, yet when matched up against Hope & Punt ™ , the numbers come out to 52% – 39% in favor of Hope & Punt ™ .

You think maybe some of those people being polled want Christie to stay and clean up the mess in NJ first? As always, there are lies, damned lies, and statistics – all one in the same.

Trump is another buffoon that impressed the rubes. And you’d think he’d invest more than $50 to replace that dead rat on his head.

Between him, Palin, and the rest of the clowns talking about running in 2012, this should be yet another helluva con comedy for a POTUS slate…

“Please prove that President Obama “couldn’t wait” to extend the Bush tax cuts, instead of being pragmatic and compromising”

Oh, is that what it was, pragmatic and compromising? Cuz he was willing to shut down the government and not pay our troops in order to keep funding abortions. LMAO.
