Herman Cain: Muslims have no place in US government

So we’ve got two probable candidates for the GOP presidential nominees who claim Georgia as their base. One is Newt Gingrich.

This is the other one.

For those who can’t view the video, Herman Cain is asked whether he would be willing to appoint a Muslim as a Cabinet officer or judge.

“No. I will not,” he said. “And here’s why: There’s this creeping attempt — there’s this attempt to gradually ease Sharia law and the Muslim faith into our government.” According to Cain, many American Muslims “are trying to force their Sharia law onto the rest of us.”

That’s just stupid. As in not very bright. By comparison, the Sharia conspiracy crowd makes the birthers look downright sane and reasonable. It will be interesting to see who, if anyone, among the GOP mainstream steps up to repudiate such nonsense. After all, the Constitution explicitly rules out such nonsense, stating point blank that “no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.”

I guess Herman Cain doesn’t believe in the Constitution.

Oh, and by the way?

In a speech to Texas evangelicals, Gingrich also took up the theme over the weekend, warning that unless America is saved, his grandchildren “will live in a secular atheist country, potentially one dominated by radical Islamists and with no understanding of what it once meant to be an American.”

“a secular atheist country … dominated by radical Islamists?” Wow. That would be some trick.

It’s the kind of rhetorical collision that happens when you’re merely listing scare words needed to scare your audience and not even attempting to communicate cogent thought.

” Is it really unreasonable to simply have 1 or 2 paragraphs in a text mentioning that some people- including scientists- view creationism as a viable explanation”

Yeah, Doom, that is being a little unreasonable — I mean if we are going to put one myth of how the Earth was created, then we need to put them all in there, and well, that just takes up too much space in the book.

Bosch,

I disagree. These are basically the only 2 theories out there and I just don’t see 1-2 paragraphs mentioning a competing theory as being something to get in a wad about. And to be honest I don’t care if they leave creationism in or out-I’m fine with it being out. It doesn’t really matter to me since my nieces will be taught about it in Sunday school and by their parents. I’m just making the point that its a little silly to get all worked up about some Christians who want a paragraph or 2 mentioning that there is a competing theory. That’s all. With or without 1 or 2 paragraphs in there does it really change the lives or effect anyone liberal or conservative if 1 or 2 paragraphs are left in or out of the textbooks? Much ado about nothing whether creationism is left out or if 1-2 paragraphs mentioning it are eventually put in.

Obama is a terrible president, he’s so far right. I may even have to run against him and he should be impeached for this war in Libya.

Among other things, I’ve said:

“In that moment I had a new understanding that this flag, as spangled with stars as a bolt of heaven itself, connects the United States with eternal principles of unity, of brotherhood, of sisterhood. … One bright star shines for hope. Another star for optimism. Another for well-being. One for freedom. One for abundance. One for creativity. One for togetherness. One for peace. One star to wish upon to create your highest aspirations, to make your dreams come true”

“We’re asking our countries’ leaders to understand that the world is undivided. We’re asking our countries’ leaders to see the world as an interconnected whole. We’re asking our countries’ leaders to take a holistic view of the world and to allow the globe, the sphere of the Earth herself, to exist free from an assault from space”

Everyone should have health insurance? I say everyone should have health care. I’m not selling insurance.

I am running for President of the United States to enable the Goddess of Peace to encircle within her arms all the children of this country and all the children of the world.

Very intersting. Care to comment on the judge who struck down the recent Wisconsin legislation being married to an offical with the public employees union?

The judge’s decision made no legal or logical sense, but did make political sense: the judge has to run for reelection in a liberal area, and her own son was a union organizer. Her son is a liberal political operative who also happens to be a former lead field manager with the AFL-CIO and data manager for the SEIU State Council. I’ve never understood all the hate directed at Cheney- he’s actually one of the most logical thinking people who’ve ever seen speak. Boring but logical- the exact opposite of Obama- charismatic and empty.

And I can’t help but respect a man who has given away millions to charity and at least 20% of his yearly earnings to charity. Actions speak louder than words.

When they showed his charity giving compared to Joe Biden and Obama a few years ago- 1,000 total for Biden and something like $3,000 at the time for Obama it told me all I needed to know about the characters of the 3 men.

Nevertheless the image of Cheney in a clownsuit in a bunker is indeed funny.

And they were there so long that eventually people got used to them, stopped worrying about them – and after that the “space people” revealed themselves to be tall, totally black, with horns, long arrowhead pointed tails and (I think) hooves on their legs – just like Medieval drawings of the devil.
