In an interview with Christianity Today, GOP presidential candidate and metro Atlanta resident Herman Cain was asked about race and discrimination:
“Do people still discriminate in some small ways against certain people because of their color or their religion? Yes. But it is nowhere near where it was 235 years ago.
Whether we will ever reach that utopian level of all men created equal and all men being treated equal, I don’t know. You know, the journey in life is to strive to be better and better every day, to strive to be more Christ-like. Whether or not any of us get to the level of Christ himself, I doubt it, because we are human. You have secret thoughts, and only God and Christ knows those secret thoughts. And they may not be Christ-like.”
That’s well put. Later, however, the interviewer asks Cain about a speech he gave last month at a church in Milner, Ga., in which Cain recounted his successful battle against cancer. (A video of the speech is below; the section in question begins at the 5:00 minute mark). When he learned that his surgeon would be a Dr. Abdallah, Cain said, he initially balked. But when the physician’s assistant reassured him that “Don’t worry, he’s a (Lebanese) Christian,” Cain reports that he “felt a whole lot better.”
The interviewer uses that incident to inquire about the appropriate role for Muslims in this country:
“The role of Muslims in American society is for them to be allowed to practice their religion freely, which is part of our First Amendment. The role of Muslims in America is not to convert the rest of us to the Muslim religion. That I resent. Because we are a Judeo-Christian nation, from the fact that 85 percent of us are self-described Christians, or evangelicals, or practicing the Jewish faith. Eighty-five percent. One percent of the practicing religious believers in this country are Muslim.
And so I push back and reject them trying to convert the rest of us. And based upon the little knowledge that I have of the Muslim religion, you know, they have an objective to convert all infidels or kill them. Now, I know that there are some peaceful Muslims who don’t go around preaching or practicing that. Well, unfortunately, we can’t sit back and tolerate the radical ones simply because we know that there are some of them who don’t believe in that aspect of the Muslim religion. So their role is to be allowed to practice their religion freely, just like we should be allowed to practice our religion freely, and not try to convert the rest of us.”
“Their role is to be allowed to practice their religion freely … and not try to convert the rest of us.”
In other words, they better not get too pushy, right Mr. Cain? They better recognize their place. They can be equal, but … not THAT equal.
The remarks are particularly interesting in the context of the rest of the interview, in which Cain makes a pitch for political support from the Christian evangelical community. (Cain himself is an associate pastor at Antioch Baptist Church North in Atlanta). One of the defining characteristics of the evangelical movement is the importance it places on, well, evangelizing. You know, trying to convert the non-believing and thus save their souls. Like many in the Muslim faith, they see it as part of their religious duty.
Apparently that’s OK for Christians in this country, but not for others.

Neither are American Muslims, WOW. I mean if we’re going to start judging entire religions by the actions of a few, then Muslim clergy weren’t sexually abusing hundreds if not thousands of children, while others in the clergy covered up for them. That was Catholics. Are all Catholics now to be suspected of child abuse? Or how about the Methodist Church leader arrested just last month here in the Atlanta area on charges of possessing and distributing child pornography? Does that tell us something about Methodists in general?

Since 9/11 I have not seen nor heard much outcry from the muslim’s folks regarding the jahidist or radical muslims. Until I see or hear differently, then you have to call it like you see it. Maybe charles Manson was a religion, Perhaps Mr Wright that taught Obama, all all religious fanitics, I do not know, but they all, under the guise of religion, spew hatred and violence thereby making them no more than a cult. Sorry to tell you this, but, Herman is right. Everyone in this country has a right topractice their religion but they do NOT have the right to push their religion on any one else. Having had the dubious pleasure of living in a muslim country (Saudi Arabia) I have seen the religion up close and personal in the heart and what you have heard about the religion is only a cleaned up version of what really takes place. Once you have seen a woman stoned to death for not wearing her abyah you want to stay as far away from that religion as you can. I HAVE seen it and I do not want anything to do with it. I have several friends that are practicing muslims and have no problem with them, just as I have no issues with most christians- only the zealots. Unfortunately today, more radicalization is occuring in the muslim influence sphere and it is coming our way-look at Europe to se what we can expect soon.

The fact that this gentleman is black and not a democratic party sycophant is what really bothers Jay and those that think as he does. Jay is just being a good little progressive and he is giving his editors what he thinks they want and he is probably right. The left in this country are using Islam to further their battle against the hated white Christian conservatives who to them, are the ultimate enemy or “the great satan” if you will. I wish that these very same progressives could live under Sharia law. I don’t think they would be quite so infactuated with it if they did.

Herman, can I have a large pizza, pepperoni, sausage, cheese with onion? Your logic of “converting” infidels to the Muslim race makes no sense. How so? Because Christians do the same. Point was just (and I meant to type ‘if other parts of the world saw select actions those here do) people get a skewed view of things, often based on the actions of a few. Kinda helps to view ourselves thru their eyes to understand how those views can be formed.

The government cannot “murder”. It can seek an appropriate punishment in kind for committing such, but it cannot initiate the act. And self defense is not murder. It may be the taking of a life, but again, is not initiated.

No, actually it isn’t. “Murder” has a specific legal meaning. If you kill someone in self-defense, you did not murder them. If the government legally executes you, you were not murdered. If someone shoots at someone else with intent to murder them, but get you instead – you were not murdered. If your wife stabs you in the middle of the night and kills you, you were murdered.

“Anxiety on all sides of upcoming House hearing on radicalization of U.S. Muslims”
By Michelle Boorstein
Washington Post Staff Writer
Saturday, February 26, 2011; 5:31 PM
Zuhdi Jasser leads the American Islamic Forum for Democracy.
“In some ways, Zuhdi Jasser doesn’t match the profile of the typical Muslim American. He’s an active Republican who has supported U.S. wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, advocates for Israel and says his faith harbors “an insidious supremacism.”
That final point is the core tenet of Jasser, a father of three, Navy veteran and a former doctor to Congress.
Through his nonprofit group, the American Islamic Forum for Democracy, he debates other Muslims and appears on mostly conservative media to press Muslim leaders to aggressively oppose a “culture of separatism.” He wants clerics to disavaow scripture that belittles non-Muslims and women and to renounce a role for Islam in government.
Into the void comes Jasser, who sits on the board of a nonprofit group that made two controversial films about the dangers of radical Islam. The Clarion Fund says on its Web site that the growth of the American Muslim population “is raising eyebrows from sea to shining sea. . . . And if you think that a growing Muslim population cannot threaten America, just look at Europe.”

There is no reasonable comparison with Christian Evangelicals and Islamic Sharia law that condones outright murder of those who reject its precepts. Evangelicals simply deliver the good news of Jesus Christ and allow the Holy Spirit to take charge from there. Evangelical Christians are simply messengers, not enforcers of belief. In my opinion there are three basic types of Muslims:
1) Westernized Muslims – a very small minority of Muslims in the U.S. are in this category. They worship Allah in sincerity but they also (because of their education and secularization) embrace freedom and Western democracy. They fear the following two forms of Islam probably as much as we do.
2) Classic Muslims – most Muslims in the world fall into this category and many live in the U.S. They embrace Islam in its unbridled totality (educational, societal, legal, economic, political, governmental, military, religious, etc.,). They may not individually murder or terrorize in the name of Allah/Islam but neither to they verbally condemn those who do. Radical Islam recruits from their ranks. This type of Islam must be marginalized in the U.S. as much as possible (including closed immigration) or given enough time and volume it will ensure the destruction of this Republic as we know it.
3) Radical/Terrorist Muslims – these types of Muslims will stop at nothing to physically force their vicious schism of Islam on the world. They are pure evil and every effort must be made to totally eradicate their influence and existance from the face of the earth.
The question for all of you to answer is which kind do we want here ……….. especially for our grandchildren and great-grandchildren?

josef, I don’t think Jay is anti-Christian. I just think him and his ideological brethren just think that it is the most vulnerable and the most acceptable religion to attack without any potential political fallout for themselves from their editors or their peers. White Christians in this country have become the “enemy” to be conquered by the left. Nevermind that there are millions of black christians. To the left, the Christianity that is practiced in the black church is much different than the “hateful” Christianity that whites practice. And why is that? Because black christians blindly support the demoractic party. It is just that simple.
The left can’t attack Jews or Muslims or Hindus because it would be not politically correct to do so as those religions don’t represent the largest majority of religious people in this country. The progressive movement is all about attacking the white majority of anything and furthering the cause of the minority because if they (the left) can get enough groups that they deem as “minorities” on their side, they think that they can control things. And to the left, this whole thing is about control and eliminating anyone and anything that stands in their way of achieving their goal. The only types of people in our society that are allowed to be attacked and made fun of anymore are obese people, people from the South (because of their supposed stereotypical “ignorance” and “bigot” label), black people that stray from the democratic fold and certain conservative women. There is nothing more that liberals hate than members of their ordained “minorities” that “defect” from their liberal cause. I means Jays piece here is meant to do exactly what I am saying and look at Palin. I don’t like Palin at all but it is totally OK with NOW for Bill Maher to call her a “cu#@” on national TV. Is Jay OK with this? Is anyone OK with calling a woman this? The silence from the media on this arrogant clown calling Palin this most derogratory term is because their ideology means more than common decency and if that is what our society has come to, I want no part of it. And make no mistake, I am not a died in the wool Christrian. I do believe in a higher power but my belief is my own business as is everyone elses. I hate hypocrisy and I see more and more of it everyday here and everywhere else.

There is a great deal of truth to what you say there. It is not my religion, but it particularly galls me when somebody comes in attacking Christianity and Christians (or any faith for that matter) with a broad brush. And you are right, there is this list that many liberals and no small few conservatives have of those it is okay to malign out of hand…
I don’t think Jay does it with religions, but he sure does with Southerners and lets ride comments against certain socio-economic classes without challenge…but, I suppose we all have our prejudices and biases…

In my opinion Jay and millions of others are mistaken to think that all “religions” are equal and should be tolerated equally and treated equally. That is pure nonsense !
There are some religions in this country that like polygamy. We don’t allow that. It’s against the law. We don’t treat that religion equally.
It is my understanding that the British fear there are still some tribes in Uganda who sacrifice children to the “Crocadile God”. Guess what ………. that “religion” should disappear from the face of the earth.
If Jim Jones had not sipped the Kool-Aid and was still operating here in this country and immigrants by the hundreds of thousands were coming here to join his “cult”, change our laws and many were even violent about it what should our reaction be?

scout, your question is infantile. If we stay with your 3 muslim categories; chances are that classical muslims from the middle east come to the US. If they have children here they will be in category 1 whether their parents like it or not…this same analogy can be used for those of us (americans who have been here for generations) who grew up in christian, conservative households where the children don’t follow the parents. Over time you will lose both groups of muslim and christian radicals just like today. You can’t stand gay people but your typical high school student doesn’t see it your way anymore and within time they will be able to marry and in another closer to home example; we will hopefully have alcohol sales on sunday.

No, all you have to have is a soul.
Religion is a political organization.
Not just electoral “politics”, but “politics” in the sense that when more than two people get together and have to make decisions, then a certain amount of “lobbying” goes on to arrive at a consensus.
Some of the worst politicking that I have witnessed involves pulpit and/or building committees in 3 SBC churches.

Well, I got curious and looked up “religion” in the dictionary and what came up actually makes no refererence to a god at all:
re·li·gion /rɪˈlɪdʒən/ Show Spelled
[ri-lij-uhn] Show IPA
–noun
1. a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.

3. the body of persons adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices: a world council of religions.
4. the life or state of a monk, nun, etc.: to enter religion.
5. the practice of religious beliefs; ritual observance of faith.
6. something one believes in and follows devotedly; a point or matter of ethics or conscience: to make a religion of fighting prejudice.

The Gaddafi regime continues to deny any massacre took place in the Libyan town of Zawiyah.
Instead the government spokesman in Tripoli has asked Britain to produce “evidence” of any civilians dying at the hands of Gaddafi forces there.
Well, Dr Moussa Ibrahim, Sky News has that evidence. A Sky News team of three was trapped in Zawiyah as Gaddafi unleashed the might of his toughest brigade on the town – for days and days.

And what about Obama’s Brazillian visit? He goes there to offer American support in their offshore oil drilling operations and meanwhile, him and his EPA stymy any attempt on offshore drilling in the US (which is costing us hundreds of thousands of jobs) and ironically, he did this under the guise of “job creation” for Americans. What he really was down there for was to talk Brazil into buying up some of our national debt because now that Japan is unable to do it, he had to find another convenient “partner” to do it (or monetary patsy, if you will). He has no intention of curtailing our spending. He only wants another international “enabler” to continue it.
And what about those beloved American corn ethanol tarriffs? Obama is more than willing to throw them (and the heavily subsidized farmers in the Midwest) away for Brazil and their sugar cane produced ethanol market just to buy our debt. I don’t believe in the anti-christ thing but the thinking behind it is pretty much sound. If you have someone that promises you everything, whether they can deliver or not, then most likely the uninformed/biased will follow them and Obama is, if nothing more, a promiser. For those that believe in the anti-christ, rest assured, Obama is most certainly not that. He is not that smart. Obama has no real substance at all and his only real belief is in himself. It really is surprising that so many intelligent people are willing to continue to support Obama even though they must know in their heart of hearts, they have elected a loser. I can now understand how Hitler and Mussolini and any number of unsavory political characters in world history have come to power. They just promised to solve all of societies problems in a very convincing way, just as Obama did but unfortunately, our children are going to pay the price for this fools dreams of self-grandeur.

Here’s one thing Obama did well. He needs to stick with this and live in Vegas.
Feel terrible about the state of your bracket after the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament? Don’t worry, we all do. But one person that doesn’t is President Barack Obama, leader of the free world and, apparently, bracket expert. Obama’s bracket is one of the nation’s best ahead of the Sweet Sixteen, in the 99.9th percentile in ESPN’s bracket challenge. For a man many say is too busy to enjoy as much college basketball as the rest of us, it’s an impressive feat, to say the least.
Obama nailed the West region in his bracket, correctly picking Duke, Arizona, Connecticut and San Diego State to make it to the Sweet Sixteen. In the Southeast, he lost one of his Final Four teams as Pittsburgh fell to Butler while also missing on Wisconsin. The Southwest region is a mess, just like the rest of the nation’s — even Obama couldn’t predict Richmond, VCU and Florida State making the Sweet Sixteen. Finally, the East region was near-perfect, with only Marquette spoiling Obama’s chance at perfection in the region.
In total, Obama has 490 points in the ESPN bracket challenge thus far, earning him bragging rights in the college basketball world. Meanwhile, my own bracket is on fire and a heaping mess after the first two rounds. You can check out our Sweet Sixteen predictions to get a handle on the next two rounds, or it may be safer to just follow Obama’s at this point.

As a presidential candidate, Sen. Barack Obama (D.-Ill.) emphatically stated that the Constitution does not give the president the authority to unilaterally authorize a military attack unless it is needed to stop an actual or imminent attack on the United States.
Obama made the assertion in a Dec. 20, 2007 interview with the Boston Globe when reporter Charlie Savage asked him under what circumstances the president would have the constitutional authority to bomb Iran without first seeking authorization from Congress.
“The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation,” Obama responded.

Yes, Kamchak was the only worthwhile character in that multi tome opus.
The series really goes off the rails early on.
My favorite books are by Roger Zelazny particularly the Amber series.
If you haven’t read E.R. Burroughs’ Tarzan of the Apes, do so. Hollywood never even came close to capturing that love story.

How many followers does it take to qualify as a “religion” as opposed to a “cult”. Is there a number? Websters defines cult: a religion regarded as unorthodox or spurious; also : its body of adherents.
Who gets to say what is orthodox besides the orthodox? All religions have some pretty whacky rituals and superstitions in my belief.

Obama wants Libya’s Qaddafi out, and he pushed hard for Egypt’s Mubarak to exit. Not so Yemen’s Saleh, president for 33 years. The difference: US concern about Al Qaeda on the Arabian Peninsula.
From the comment section:
Also, time has come for us to select Arabs masses of 150 million people and their resources including Oil or 5 million Israelis and their illegal and brutal 40-years old occupation, liability and inhumane daily killings of innocents using American arms and political help.

The on-line edition of Websters that I use provides four definitions for “religion”. Atheism doesn’t fit any of them.
a : the state of a religious b (1) : the service and worship of God or the supernatural (2) : commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance

As for the BMW M3 vs Toyota Prius,
1) No matter how you drive that BMW, you will not get better than its rated hwy mpg of 20 while the Toyota can be driven in a manner that will get you more like 49 mpg hwy (I think that’s the new rating). So, at least the guy in that video was correct in his assertion that fuel mileage is dependent on how one drives. He just failed to provide more than a half truth in order to prove his non-point.
2) The BMW base price is more than double that of the Prius so that’s a lot of differnce to make up under said optimal driving conditions for the BMW and worst case for the Prius.
3) The claims regarding environmental damage is relative. If you are going to go down that path, then one should at least list all the materials used in both vehicles along with all the fuels used in said vehicles over their lives and see how they stack up. After all, walking likely does the least environmental damage but it doesn’t do much good if we must travel more than a few miles to and from work each day or do not have food growing in our yards year round, etc.
The bottom line is that I just don’t have much faith in Herman Cain’s ability to deliver such intellectual honesty so I just could not ever see myself voting for him. How’s that for staying on post while discussing off post.

Well said. What could be added, however, is the fact that Mr. Cain hasn’t even bothered to learn anything about his Muslim neighbors, which means that this good Christian man, who claims that his highest calling is to love as Jesus loves, is breaking one of the ten commandments most everytime he speaks about his Muslim neighbors. That’s the one that goes like this: “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.” The fact is, Muslims are no more aggressive, in fact, much less aggressive, in their desire to share their faith than Christians. And this nonsense about Muslims being somehow compelled to kill the “infidel” is so off base as to be laughable.
If you truly want to love as Jesus loves, Mr. Cain, stop bearing false witness against your Muslim neighbor.

Calling Mr. Cain an “Uncle Tom” is pure, ignorant racism. Also, equality is not the same as superiority. Bookman,
It’s never the majority of any movement that causes is the problem. But when the movement goes radical, those in the majority chose to say nothing. It is replete throughout history. Hitler and his followers, at first, were in the minority. Pol Pot and his enforcers were certainly in the minority but chose to kill gazillions of people who they deemed inferior. Do you think that Stalin who killed millions had the country and it’s people behind him? How about Marcos? He was a banana dictator of the first rate but the majority of the people went along because he was in control. The same can be said of Castro, Idi Amin, Charles Taylor, Robert Mugabe, Laurent Kabila, Mao, Pinochet, Manuel Noriega and numerous others throughout history. They were not in control at first but as time went on, they assumed control of a majority who were afraid to speak out. Herman Cain is right. And if we don’t realize this, we are our own worst enemy.

Once upon a time, the forefathers invaded and occupied America. Imposed the Judeo-Christian faith on the native Americans. Oops! Judea was a place not a religion and followers of Jesus, Moses,Adam, Eve, Abraham, Mary, Noah, Zacharia, John, Lot, Job, Aaron, Elisha, Jonah,David, Eziekiel, Isiah, Isaac, Ishmael, Jacob, Joseph, Benjamin, Muhammed ,etc.etc ( May Gods peace be upon them all ) Were all Muslims, because they prayed to and worshiped THE ONE and ONLY GOD… The Bible foretells the advent of Muhammed in Genesis 21:13,18. Deuteronomy 18:18 and 33:13, Isaiah 11:1-4, 21:13-17, 42:1-13 and others… The 1st and 2nd Commandment tell of believing in ONE God not three in one , Mary, peace be upon her, did pray to FATHER (God, glory be to him), but not SON (Jesus, peace be upon him, was born 2 thousand years ago of immaculate conception ) and Holy Spirit ( Angel Gabriel, another of Gods creation) she would not commit blasphemy by associating her son(Jesus) and angel Gabriel . She worshiped THE GOD, the one and only, giver and taker of LIFE. Muslims believe in and worship in this SAME, ONE God… As far as 911, It is easy for the Elitists, war mongers, profit makers, greedy owners of weapons, tanks, fighter plane and helicopter companies with the help of our Commander (past) in chief, to create LIES, HATE, blame and animosity towards Arabs and Muslims, so they can easily and illegally go to WAR and kill as many Muslims and Arabs, with the blessings of the American public. Then, control the OIL. The Elitists’ money is in the back pockets of our leaders (THIEVES and liars) that we vote in… Come on People wake up, no one as held you as a prisoner or taken your freedom away. Think about how many muslim countries, we are in and how we have taken their freedom away. How we have destroyed their infrastructure and their lives and for WHAT, only LIES,LIES. So are we not terrorizing them??? These same elitists that run our government and our media, they are constantly spewing hate. Most people buy into this hateful and racist rhetoric and become total IGNORANTS. Educate yourselves, invite a Muslim to your home or go to their home and learn about them, from them, not from their enemies, the religious bigots and racists. After all, all the prophets and messengers of God, as stated above were all Muslims ( Because they worshiped ONE God same as Muslims do). Next time when you see a Christmas play or watch a Biblical movie, you can see the characters dressed in Muslim attire. Muslims don’t change the word of God or Gods rules, they just obey them. The old testament forbids eating of pork, but Majority of Christians consume the flesh of swine, going against Gods rule… May God bless and guide all of humanity to the right path, AMEN ….

European Aircraft Carriers Enter the Libyan Theater.
Two European aircraft carriers, the French nuclear-powered Charles de Gaulle (R91) and Italian Giuseppe Garibaldi (551), entered the Libyan theater March 22 as the Western coalition prepared for the fourth day of air and cruise missile strikes against Libya. Their arrival signals that the coalition will soon see a transfer of command from the United States to Europe.

My college roommate pranked me one time with the Mormons. He knew I would be home one Friday afternoon drinking beer after finals and so he set up an appointment with the Mormons to come by and see me. I’ld already had a few beers so when they showed up I let them in being the nice guy that I was. Drank another 6-7 beers in front of them and drunkenly debated religion with them till they finally decided I just wasn’t seeing the light.
But seriously I have no qualms towards them. They’re just doing what they think is right and the polite thing to do when they show up is just to say no thanks I wouldn’t be interested. I was just drunk enough that I thought it might be interesting to have them come on in.
I think in Herman’s case his real fear is that a growing Muslim minority would want and demand to live under Sharia law. We’re already seeing this in France and England where Muslim populations are more forceful in their demands for sharia law.
And if the Christian bashers on here think Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson are scary then you need to wake the hell up. At least Falwell and Robertson don’t have gays hanged or adulterous women stoned or raped with no repercussions to the rapists. Old physics teacher,
A few things for you to note. First of all yeah. Some Christians don’t want us buying alcohol on Sunday- not the whole weekend. Secondly, I suspect in Georgia that will change soon. In a bible state like Alabama you can buy beer in B’ham on Sunday and on the gulf coast also. One thing you didn’t mention is that in most Muslim countries you can’t buy alcohol period. Funny that you didn’t mention that.
Point 2- Abortion is legal in this country- has been for almost 40 years and let’s be honest about it- it always will be most likely. Abortion is not legal in most if not all Muslim countries to my knowledge.
Thirdly I don’t see anybody advocating that every govt meeting start with a prayer. Sure it happens in a lot of small town meetings and even state legislatures. But is it really impugning someone else’s rights if the overwhelmingly Christian govt leaders at the meeting want to take 30 seconds for a prayer? I mean really. Is it really going to damage someone? If I’m in Saudi Arabia working as a foreigner do you really think I’m going to be offended if the Saudis start a meeting with a prayer to Allah?
And your last point about Jews. Gimme a break. Do you really think Christians are just a hating and wanting to kill Jews? Seriously? We have Islamic leaders and religious Imams every day calling for the exterminatin of Israel. Its a matter of darn policy for some states such as Iran or did you not know that.

Always got to try to make a point by making an extreme, utterly absurd example such as the one about Muslim children beheading our kids. Anybody can make up with baseless rhetoric and hyperbole- its easy.
Perhaps you didn’t see in the news a week ago about the missing 13 year old who was found by police after running away from home. Her uncle was hiding her from her family. Why you might ask? Because her Pakistani Muslim father had acceptd some money to send her to Pakistan to be a bride in an arranged marriage. Or perhaps you missed that story.
You see you come with emotion based rhetoric. I counter with real life facts and examples.
Last go on now with your assertion that a rising Muslim population is just fine. Go ask Britain and France about all the recent street riots in Muslim enclaves that non-Muslims absolutely dare not enter. Try picking up a newspaper and do some actual reading about the non-assimilating Muslims throughout Western Europe- England, France, Denmark, Germany. The consensus is that the Muslim immigrants are not only not assimilating but are wanting sharia law. As their populations grow does your mind not understand that they are going to demand that the culture they moved to bow to their religious demands? Its happening now.
And about Falwell. He complained about Maplethorpe’s taxpayer funded portrait of a cross in a glass of urine. And you probably thought Falwell was the azzhole. So what happened to that famous Dutch writer who had drawn cartoons making fun of the phrophet Muhammad? Oh. That’s right. He was attacked by a Muslim in broad daylight and quickly bled to death after having his throat slashed so deeply that his head almost came off.
And Salman Rushdie? Still in hiding after 15 years or so for a book and still under a death threat from various Islamic imams. Yeah buddy. Those are the exact kind of immigrants I want coming to America. No thanks. I’ll take the Mexicas instead

Never said I hate them. You did. Most Muslims, especially the ones in this country, are good, honest, hardworking people who mind their own business and pay their taxes. I’ve absolutely no issue with them. But what I don’t want is for Muslims in this country or for newcomer Muslims to think that they can just live by their own laws and not assimilate. I’ve no need for people that won’t assimilate for the simple reason that I am seeing today the balkanization happening in Western Europe.
I’ll give you a small example that you may remember from last year. Remember in NY city when first one and then a several NY city Muslim cab drivers said they would refuse to transport alcohol if passengers has it in their bags or were carrying it to a party or whatever? What the hell? Even Jerry Falwell wouldn’t tell me I can’t bring my duty free alcohol that I bought in the Bahamas with me on a cab ride home. Yes women get abused in every country in the world. Is there something about scale, perspective, and the big picture that you guys just don’t get? How many American women have you ever heard of being attacked with acid? I’m certain its happened somewhere even though I’ve never heard of it.
The simple concept that your mind seems to have a problem grasping is that this happens routinely and with regularity in the Muslim world. And abuse of women happens to a substantially greater degree and if you try to debate that you will be recognized as the biggest fool on the blog today. I love when people say “we don’t fly planes into buildings.” No, but we drop atomic bombs on innocent civilians burning the skin off of 350,000. We do kill 150 million American Indians in the last 400 years. We do import slaves from Africa and hold them down as long as we can until the pesky liberals of the time demand their freedom. We do imprison 120,000 Japanese Americans with 70% being US citizens in 1942. We do kill 250 people in the Mid East searching for fictitious weapons but your are right, we typically don’t fly planes into buildings except when it’s one of our own flying into the IRS building…..

Susan!! The US dropped the Bombs on Japan because we extrappolled the deaths, military and civilian that would occur if the US invaded in Japanese Home Islands would reach an excess of TWO MILLION. The bombing actually saved lives. We did kill many Native Americans. Of cource they themselves were killing each other as well.As for the Slave Trade, yes those nasty old liberals in Yankee states in New England where incidentally ALL of the ships that carried the slaves were financed by Northern Banks, built by Northern Shipyards, sailed by northern crews and captained by northerners. The slave trade Built Wall Street and the War Between the States gave us a Federal Government with vastly more power than the founding fathers ever intended . As far as the internment of the Japanese Americans during WW2 ,once again a violation of the constitution by the Federal Government.

I’m glad McCain is not president. He’d still be struggling with something that rhymes with, “Bomb, Bomb, Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Egypt,” while Sarah would be struggling with what shade of red to wear to the shock and awe campaign before finally throwing up her hands and quitting, again. They would eventually end up calling in two of their spiritual advisors, Herman Cain and Newt Gingrich, to tell them what to do next.

First of all, Bill Orvis White called for Herman to run before Herman even thought about running: http://tinyurl.com/27q8oww
If we are looking at experience, technical quality and pure intelligence, the Honorable Mr. Herman Cain should be president of the United States right now.
Second, Mr. Cain knows that there are good Muslims and bad Muslims. The good Muslims help us out in places like Saudi Arabia where most of the world gets the oil that we need. The Saudis also helped out the Honorable President George HW Bush in the rightful first war against the thug Saddam Hussein who re-grouped behind our backs to pull off September the 11th. Of course, Saddam re-grouped under Bubba Clinton’s watch while that administration took a vacation from history. After Saddam pulled off the biggest terrorist act on our soil, HW’s dignified, honorable son, the Honorable President George W. Bush rightfully went after the people responsible for killing 3,000+ US citizens.
So you see, Liberal Jay and your secular progressive friends, a President Cain would know the difference between who helps us and who doesn’t. In other words, WE THE PEOPLE would have our country back under a Cain administration whereby we return to the rightful and just Bush Doctrine.
Amen,
Bill

Jay, look at the countries dominated by the Islamic faith. These are countries that endorse aristocracy and show no support for any freedom of public gatherings or speech, no freedom of religion, no respect for gay and lesbian rights, and certainly no respect for women’s rights. These are issues that many Americans hold dear, unfortunately most in the Islamic world do not support these simple, yet powerful, ideals.
With all the political attacks on Christians and Jews, I think what Mr. Cain was trying to say is that he fears that later down the road it may turn out to be politically incorrect to turn down the Islamic faith. That is just my opinion I could be wrong.

I agree with everything Herman said…there is nothing wrong with his remarks. I find him refreshing, honest and genuinely concerned with our country and our way of life. He, along with most of us, can see when there is something brewing that could potentially derail our way of living. In my eyes, there are two such instances we are dealing with today. The first is islamic terrorists, as they opt to kill those who don’t believe in their God…Christians don’t threaten non-believers with their lives. Secondly, is the weakening of America both domestically and Internationally. Our current president is heck-bent on making decisions to weaken our nation.
I’d elect Herman Cain our next President in a heartbeat as he can address both those issues.

Nothing wrong with Herman Cain’s comments. Until the law abiding Muslims are willing to help root out the fanatics then we have to protect america. We should be continuing to observe what is going on in the mosques in this country (might be a good idea to pay more attention what’s being said in Rev. Wrights church as well.) Too many examples of people in America becoming radicalized for us to simply ignore it. I don’t care to recognize anything as a “religion” that preaches murdering people who don’t accept it. This doesn’t correct the wrongs other religions have committed but for now the focus should be on whether we should accept radical islam in america and I for one vote NO. 60 minutes had some shows of hidden videos several years ago of what was being preached in these mosques—we need more of that so people can understand the misuse of the term religion when applied to these folks.

Jay, as a government and as a society we are NOT discriminating against nor intimidating Muslim minorities in this country. In the Muslim world, this is all too often NOT the case in reverse. It is intellectually dishonest to imply that we are, or that Mr. Cain is. Period.
On this you DO NOT have the ability to alter my opinion or view, even at the point of a gun if it came to that. I’ve heard Mr. Cain speak far too often to believe otherwise, and I know (there are individual exceptions in every crowd) people on the right in general harbor no ill will toward Muslims who are not seeking our death and destruction, which many are, openly and on the record.

Herman Cain is a religious zealot, period.
The first part of the interview exposes the fact he doesn’t believe that Muslims are capable of being qualified, capable physicians. He was relieved with it was determined his physician was a Christian. That can only mean he didn’t really believe that a Muslim could achieve the same level of competence as a Christian.
Muslim extremist elements are not about converting Christians, Jews, Buddhists, etc. to Islam. They are using their religion as a shield and a sword to attack anyone that doesn’t believe as they do. Osama Bin Laden would not stop vilifying the U.S. tomorrow if everyone here converted to Islam. For him it is all about power and terror.
Islam, like Christianity, is an evangelical religion. Both religions maintain that the only path to truth and salvation is by following the tenets of their religion. There were times in the past when Christians used violence in the name of their religion whether it was during the Crusades when thousands of Muslims were slaughtered or during the Inquisition when thousands of Muslims and Jews were forced to convert or face death or banishment.
Christian tradition has mellowed over time so that conversion relies primarily on persuasion and to a great extent example, i.e. Christian charities.
Nations with a Judeo-Christian legal pedigree have largely eliminated the harshest elements of the tradition. For example we don’t banish or stone someone for heresy, something that was done in New England under the Puritans.
Not all Muslims and certainly none of the American Muslims I know (a) follow Sharia law or (b) have any interest in interjecting their religious traditions and observances into American law. What they do fear, however, are attempts by Christians to interject Christian traditions into secular law. My Muslim friends want a secular society where all are free to practice their religion including Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, etc.

While Allah is the Muslim word for god, it is not the same as the Christian God. Muslim’s do not consider Jesus to be the son of God and the savior of mankind. Jesus himself claimed this. If you disagree with Him, that’s fine. But since Jesus set himself in a different status, he can not be grouped with others and neither can his Father God.
Also, coming to the Christian God is a choice with which ultimately God will deal not me. Fortunately if someone does not convert, I have no responsibility to kill them before my God. If killing or lying is taught even remotely in certain Muslim sects, I certainly would think twice of having a Dr. who adhered to this religion. His religious convictions would possibly be stronger than his medical ethics. I could not possibly determine that for sure. That’s not prejudice, it’s wisdom. If Muslims are in disagreement with these teachings, they must speak louder. I don’t hear them and I’m trying to listen.
