According to U.S. Rep. Peter King, R-NY, more than 80 percent of the mosques in this country are headed by imams who espouse radical Islamic jihad.
Eighty percent. King has offered that estimate in the past, and did so again this week in a radio interview:
King did not claim to have a list of those subversive enemies of American freedom in his suit pocket, as Sen. Joe McCarthy did 60 years ago. But like McCarthy, King does have the chairmanship of a prominent congressional committee, in his case the House Homeland Security Committee. And next month, King’s committee is scheduled to hold public hearings into the alleged disloyalty of the Muslim-American community.
That ought to go so very well, don’t you think?
And then we’ve got U.S. Rep. Allen West, a newly elected Republican from Florida. In a recent interview with a cable TV program called “The Shalom Show,” West was asked a rather odd question about U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison, a Minnesota Democrat and a Muslim, and he responded with an equally odd answer (The interchange begins at 1:47 in the video below):
Interviewer Richard Peritz: “Since you’re with a new crowd, people you haven’t really met before and will be very closely associated with in the future, including Keith Ellison, who supports Islam. How will you manage that, if I may ask? Because it’s not really easy to be that … polite, often, with individuals one totally disagrees with, which I believe may be the case.”
Rep. West: “I think it’s most important that I stand upon the principles that people elected me to go to Washington DC and represent them on Capitol Hill. So that when you run into someone that is counter or someone that really does represent the antithesis of the principles upon which this country was established, you got to be able to defeat them intellectually and in debate and discourse.”
It really is astounding. Is it possible to be polite to a Muslim-American? Does Ellison, by the mere fact of being a Muslim, “represent the antithesis of the principles upon which this country was established?”
Or is that all just vile, ugly bigotry spouted by men wearing nice suits?

I fail to understand the war that religion wages on science. Did God create everything or didn’t He? If so, then He created science and understanding it is not a negation of God.
What perplexes me even more than that, Matti, is how people can use religion to make war on one another. We are all part of the Creation.

I’m glad to be able to share that with you…as you know, “down home” we have no problem with the spiritual world in our daily conduct of our lives…and, yes, I agree with you on G-d and science…I see no conflict between the two, they just each have their sphere…in our Western tradition, G-d gave to man the earthly and essentially said, “here ya go, Pombo, this is yours. Make of it what you will. I’ll be watching ‘from a distance.’”

It took me a bout a year to finish it. But I would only read a few pages a night. You remember, before we all got digitized…
Hillbilly, you’re right. Bo Belinsky (not Bo Pelini) was the original cool cat with an amazing life story.
He said, “If music be the food of love, by all means let the band play on.” The 1962 season was a raucous one for Belinsky in that he became glittering copy for southern California sportswriters with his wit and unapologetic womanizing. “Within days of his no-hitter Belinsky would be heralded as sport’s most original and engaging playboy-athlete,”
His no-hitter was the first of eight thrown by Jewish pitchers in one decade. The others: Sandy Koufax in 1962, 1963, 1964 and 1965; Joe Horlen in 1967; and Ken Holtzman in 1969 and 1971.
In addition to pitching the first no-hitter in Angels’ history, Belinsky was also on the losing end of the first no-hitter ever pitched against them—Earl Wilson’s 2–0 gem at Fenway Park that same 1962 season. The Boston Red Sox pitcher hit a home run in that game, one of three no-hit pitchers ever to do so.
19 days until pitchers and catchers report…

Pat: “Therefore the burden of proof lies with you. Usually, the burden of proof does lie with atheists, as they assert the absurd notion of ’something from nothing’.”
That is the most convoluted logic I have ever heard, but that’s what it takes to believe in Sky Fairies.
If something from nothing is the notion of atheists, then I simply ask, where did the Sky Fairy come from?
I am an atheist and I don’t believe in something from nothing, I believe things just are, always were and always will be. I believe we do not currently have the intellect to completely understand the universe and that’s what makes the ride so friggin’ much fun. This would be such a dull place if we knew all the answers.
My dog is pretty smart but he just can’t grasp the simplest algebraic equation. In the same way, there are explanations to things we observe in this universe that we simply don’t have the mental capacity to understand in current state of development. Infinity is an example. What man will know in another 50000 years (if we survive) is hard to even to begin to comprehend.
I am so happy that for me all the answers aren’t contained in some book of fables recorded by men many hundreds of years ago. What a dull life that would be.

Adapted from the book “Slavery, Terrorism and Islam: The Historical Roots and Contemporary Threat” by Dr. Peter Hammond.
“Islam has religious, legal, political, economic, social, and military components. The religious component is a beard for all of the other components.
Islamization begins when there are sufficient Muslims in a country to agitate for their religious privileges.
Here’s how it works:
1) As long as the Muslim population remains around or under 2% in any given country, they will be for the most part be regarded as a peace-loving minority and not as a threat to other citizens (i.e. United States – 0.6%).
2) At 2% to 5%, they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups, often with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs (i.e. Denmark – 2%).
3) From 5% on they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population. For example, they will push to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves (within their ghettos) under Sharia Law (i.e. France – 8%).
4) When Muslims approach 10% of the population, they tend to increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions. Any non-Muslim action offends Islam, and results in uprisings and threats, with opposition to Mohammed cartoons and films about Islam (i.e. India – 13.4%).
5) After reaching 20%, nations can expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings, and the burnings of Christian churches and Jewish synagogues (i.e. Ethiopia – 32.8%).
6) At 40%, nations experience widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks, and ongoing militia warfare by Muslims (i.e. Chad – 53.1%).
7) From 60%, nations experience unfettered persecution of non-believers of all other religions (including non-conforming Muslims), use of Sharia Law as a weapon, and Jizya, the tax placed on infidels (i.e. Sudan – 70%).
9) 100% is to usher in the peace of ‘Dar-es-Salaam’ (the Islamic House of Peace) because everybody is a Muslim, the Madrasses are the only schools, and the Koran is the only word (i.e., Afghanistan – 100%).
Unfortunately, peace is never achieved, as in these 100% states, the most radical Muslims satisfy their blood lust by killing less radical Muslims for a variety of reasons.”

Don’t take this the wrong way but you have a focused paranoia about islam. Were we worrying about islam in the 60’s, 70’s, or 80’s? What changed things? The first mistake was maintaining an american air base in saudi arabia after the first gulf war. The second great mistake was the iraq war. It is estimated that our “collateral damage” was anywhere from 100k to 1million dead iraqi’s. We are the good guys but to the people in occupied territory we are more like alien invaders in their land. We need to pull back, create a steel defense and here is where we find agreement, curtail or discourage people of that faith from coming to america. Why? Their religion conflicts with our beliefs, culture and our constitution. They don’t need america and america doesn’t need them. People of that faith already here will eventually assimilate and become more american each succeeding generation.

Hey Godless if you prefer self imposed ignorance and you do not care, I don’t give a flying sh*t.
Now you call it convoluted logic but you fail to prove it. You choose not to seek and understand that which is true and real. You are free to do that, but do go telling people they are wrong or stupid for believing in God when not only you don’t know, but you don’t bother to find out.
Your mind may be to small to understand the matter, but mine is not. So you can shove you ’sky fairy’ based hubris, which is obviously based in nothing more that intellectual lazyness.
The truth is, I can prove I am right and you cannot. But you are an abomination to atheists. Most of them try, at least.
You must believe in something from nothing, and randomness to prove there is no causal properties to the universe. The brightest minds have and continue to try to only fail, but their science is facinating.
I can respect an atheist who can make an arguement, bbut you are asserting the following ‘I don’t know how existance came to be, but it can’t be God! That’s just silly.’
This is a crappy forum to take on the topic, but I have taken on the best and they have lost because truth and logic are on my side.
I won’t provide the dissertation here, but my 5:06 @ jm provides the path to find it. You got to do your research first, before I destroy your silly notions of ‘I don’t know, but there ain’t no God’ and from nothingness, something came.

HEADLINE: “Mock city rises at Marine base ….. ”
“The new center expanded a similar training program called Mojave Viper that launched in 2005 to prepare troops for the Iraq war.
In November, the Marine Corps unveiled a $30 million expansion of its mock Afghan village at Camp Pendleton that nearly quadrupled its size. In that facility, Marines scramble through a maze of mud walls leading to mosques, schools and carpet sellers, as Hollywood-style explosions go off.
Similar immersion training facilities are slated to open this year at Marine Corps bases in North Carolina, Hawaii and Okinawa.
More than 15,000 Marines and sailors can train simultaneously in the massive simulator to experience the difficulties they will face during deployments as they communicate, coordinate, maneuver and operate in such settings, according to the Marine Corps.
Along with what they can plainly see, Marines in training will search for escape tunnels, hiding places, weapons caches and other dangerous spaces. The facility has almost 1,900 feet of underground tunnels, a manmade riverbed and dozens of courtyards and compounds.”
Well, well it sure doesn’t look like these millions are being spent and thousands of Marines training for an assault on the Vatican or Southern Baptist Headquarters does it ?

Note that the interview is in a format with an Israeli background, and appears to originate either with a right-wing Israeli commentator or a neo-con. Check out also the way the interviewer tries to elicit Islamophobia right from the gate, without stopping to discuss any issues.
This suggests something many of us have been uncomfortably aware of for some time, that much of the Islamophobia is originating in right-wing Israeli political parties, and their American supporters, mainly neo-cons. If you like irony, this is rich. Just a hundred years ago fascists and nationalists in Europe were blaming Jews for everything bad, and now right-wing Jews are disseminating religious bigotry in the form of Islamophobia, which is nothing more than an updated form of anti-Semitism. Such are the effects of religious nationalism (i.e., Zionism) on the Israelis, who seem to be galloping to the right.

How about just getting rid of all the Muslims in this country. Then we can start with the Irish, next the Hispanics and every group that is not indigenous to this land. That would leave only the Native Americans since they happened to be living here when this country was founded by some white guys looking for India. Of course the Blacks can stay since they arrived here by being murdered, kinapped and enslaved. But the rest of you need to go back to where your ancestors came from.

Mike:
If any of them have the goal of Sharia law in the U.S. and/or trying to dominate the world by force ……………….. yes.
But they don’t. There’s no comparison.
As I told JD: Flea vs. a Mad Dog.
Sad you can’t see the difference.

The idiot bookman has found another black conservative to attack. The left can’t stand it when populations with historical political alignment shifts ideology. So this is just the fool bookman beginning an attack on one of the really promising freshman representatives.
I refuse to pay the AJC for subscriptions as long as this fool is on their staff.

King is a shill for the (growing) Orwellian police state. He & his Neocon cohorts continue the “islamofascist” boogeyman rhetoric to further empower the totalitarian DHS. I’m no “fan”/advocate of the muhamedans, but they’re (largely) being used as patsies to advance the police state agenda.
P.S. – …and NO, I’m not a Democrat (nor Republican) but an Independent (strict) Constitutionalist.

Makes me think about what’s going on in Europe- especially in Britain, France to a lesser degree, and Germany. Got news for ya folks. The Muslims aren’t assimilating very well at all- especially in England. Many of them want Sharia law, they bring their own backward 3rd world values and beliefs, its just a mess over there with these people and its only getting worse. Ignore it if you want but it doesn’t change the fact that there are Muslims that are radical and want us to adhere to their beliefs rather than vice versa.
As for here in the US the overwhelming majority of Muslims such as the large community in Dearborn, MI. are very pro American so I think King is greatly exaggerating. Its the students coming over from Arab countries that end up never leaving that need to be rounded up and shipped off after they overstay their visa. I’ll be back later to beat up granny godzilla, keep up, and others. Gotta do some work to pay the taxes to pay their unemployment checks.

Why do you automatically refer to anyone who mistrusts someone else as a “bigot”? Can’t we dislike someone/something simply because they have not earned our trust? That’s not like a blanket “hate” for a group based on color/race/ethnicity/religion/sex/height or whatever. The majority of Muslims seem to be peaceful, caring people who just want to worship in their own way, but they have all been given a bad name by the relatively few radical violent ones among them. But this situation screams for an answer – why haven’t the majority of Muslims spoken out against the violence, not on a personal level, but from Islam’s highest levels? Is it because they secretly DO endorse the violence or perhaps they are afraid of retaliation? This is why the rest of the world distrusts Muslims – they are doing no PR work at all to separate themselves from the violence. If that makes me a bigot, so be it.

Jay,
You seem like a nice guy, but you, like most liberals are ruled by emotion. Multiculturalism cannot work. One culture has to be dominant and I would just as soon live in a culture, even with it’s faults, that is primarily Judeo-Christian at it’s core. Defend Islam at your own peril. I hope that you don’t have grandchildren who might one day suffer from your unwillingness to confront unpleasant truths.

It is impossible by definition to be impolite or bigoted towards RADICAL Islam, as it is a disease, not a religion. That is what we are talking about here, not the average, quiet, peaceful Muslim next door. .

As a Black person, I would not want Allen West as my member in Congress. OK, Georgia has its share of Tea Party members, but that is for another discussion. As a Georgian who did live in Minneapolis for a few years, I am glad that Keith Ellison reacted in a very classy way. Mr. West could learn a thing or two.

I’ll began to trust muslims in the US when muslims show they want to accept the laws and traditions of the US, practice their faith without trying to impose sharia laws in the US (for example if you feel the need to wash your feet, bring your own washbowl, water and waste water receptical instead of wanting taxpayers to add friggin’ footwashing stations in public buildings and property and if you don’t want to handle pork don’t work in a friggin’ grocery store), and muslim congregations of the mosques in this country publicly remove radical imams who espouse radical Islamic jihad.

Hey Jay, since 9-11, Muslims have to prove to us that they place THIS nation first and not a radical Islamic group. until then, their allegiance will always be suspect to me.

Hey Dr. EB… go ahead and say what you were going to say about the Tea Party in Georgia. Are you fearful that your derogatory words toward them would have to be supported by some kind of facts, and those you just don’t have? Spit it out “Dr.”… go for it!

Darryl, you asked for it. I am having a lot of problems-their racist elements included. I guess when they say they want their country back that they mean the days of 1951 or ‘61 and not 2011. I guess they want the White and Colored signs to return. Who can forget about the actions of some members of the Tea Party when some members of the Congressional Black Caucus headed to the capitol for a vote over a year ago? I am not just talking about the Civil Rights Act of 1964 but also issues due to voting. You may like their actions, but as a descendant of slaves I find them disturbing.

How ignorant some Americans are, King is a bigot pure and simple. This 80% figure is garbage, and Homeland Security I’m sure does not support such figures. What strange times we live in. Repeat something so outrageous enough and sure enough you’ll find ignorant Americans who will buy into it. BTW, all you smart folks who are afraid of Muslims blowing you up one day, here’s a news flash for ya: Your chances of being jacked up in ATL streets by a fellow ‘thug’ Christian is far greater than your illusion of a so-called Muslim terrorist doing the same to you.
