A little holiday travelin’ dance number

A lot of families have their own holiday traditions, the little “inside jokes” that family members enjoy but that outsiders aren’t likely to comprehend. Unless you share family memories and relationships, you just can’t appreciate why it’s significant.

For example, one of the annual highlights of the Bookman family holiday reunion involves slipping good ol’ Uncle Nat a little too much eggnog (his favorite), to the point that he finally agrees to perform his famous Bookman Bounce.

It kills the room, every time. So I’d thought I’d share:

Kamchak, that was funny! Self-deprecation isn’t lost on all of us.

It would be OK by me if she tried to argue any point I made in that post; but no, she just misquotes me.

I’ve tried to ignore this, and such other unfortunate “habits” of hers.

Repeatedly. For weeks on end. Hell, for years now.

Yet invariably…

And Bruno had her and RW pegged real early on.

Sorry, gang.

What a great evening. The almost full moon is fabulous. What a wonderful season.

I must have missed when “bruno” pegged us as people who wanted to keep a historically accurate record, but if that happened I guess I should applaud the guy.

One thing anyone can note from amvet’s accusations of unnamed, Fox watching, neocon, homophobes earlier on this thread is that he hides behind not naming individuals. You’ll see the same thing in the times on this thread when I’ve copied and pasted, as well as linked to the source material, his own words to correct the record on his evolution on stereotypes.

As you can see from the 11:27 even when he decides to name names he has to hide behind “bruno” but the larger point is that rather than redeem himself by saying he had now interacted with various southern people and realized they weren’t the collection of morons he had called them for years he’d rather pretend he never uttered those words and any reminder of them reflects not on him, but the people who make him face his words.

Like you I ‘ad me nuns in me life as well…I was in Catholic education when the nuns first started wearing the shorter habits…we had one, a particularly large and dour one who came in and she had the skinniest legs! When we kept looking she said, “…and what were ye expectin’, roller skates?”

Somebody asked Joyce once why the Irish were such great wordsmiths and he is supposed to have answered, “Ay, it’s because we alone of the English speaking peoples hate the mother tongue!”

Won’t be as bitter as the ones behind you.
Be an optimist instead,
And somehow happiness will find you.
Forget what happened yesterday,
I know that better things are on the way.

It’s really good to see you rocking out
And having fun,
Living like you just begun.
Accept your life and what it brings.
I hope tomorrow you’ll find better things.
I know tomorrow you’ll find better things.

I know you’ve got a lot of good things happening up ahead.
The past is gone it’s all been said.

You have the option of considering it a “miracle…” I consider it, pretty much, politics as usual…as for the GOP, don’t forget there were those who did buck the mainstream of the party and, hopefully, will bring that party back toward the center somewhat. Also don’t forget that it was the Log Cabin Republicans who made it clear that did they not, it was headed for the courts big time…

Like I said, I’m not breaking out the champagne yet and from what I’ve seen in this, they left themselves plenty of weasel room and I expect “both sides” to play that like a harp judging from past experience in the matter…

These Federal power vacumns can sometimes get messy. If you can’t bring yourself to quit your particular gang, then……………Keep you head down and always respect the citizens.

“And I thought only angels could do that. ”

And, Solomon ibn Gabirol, how many would that be?

Common:

I made no mention of angels. I merely pointed to the pinhead(s).

Using 300 words just to say, “I ain’t gonna buy your crap” goes waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay beyond obsessive.

Actually it does nothing of the sort. A new reader would need to have the background to see what led to the comment.

Dang, SoCo. Now that’s a pinhead. You ought to forward that link to O’Reilly.

wiccan, nice contribution.

And jonix, that replay is timely. Great stuff.

Appreciated the video and song. I lightened up the evening with one of these:

and started to finish the evening with this one:

But I decided to save that one for later.

Somebody has finally gotten around to posting some of Dory’s other stuff…here’s one for ya…remember in “The Crooked Christmas Star” when she says, “…the Empress of China, she laughs when I laugh, we’ve both played this scene before…I stare at my fork, the Empress would grab it, stand up and stab it in his neck…” This is where it comes from…sort of appropriate for some of the exchanges hereabouts… :-)
