In apparent retaliation, Oregon mosque hit by arson attack

Someone broke into the Salman Al-Farisi Islamic Center in Corvallis, Ore., where accused terrorist Mohamed Osman Mohamud occasionally worshiped, and started a fire early Sunday morning, destroying a computer, a chair and a copy of the Koran.

U.S. Attorney Dwight Holton visited the scene and promised an aggressive investigation. “The fact is that violent extremists come from all religions and no religion at all. For one person to blame a group, if that’s what happened here, is uniquely anti-American and will be pursued with the full force of the Justice Department,” Holton said.

Before the arson attack, leaders of the Corvallis mosque had publicly condemned the terrorist plot. “We denounce this horrible plot in the strongest terms and repudiate all those who commit such acts of mindless violence in the name of Islam,” the statement said. “Islam is a religion of peace and these acts are not the legitimate acts of Muslims.”

It’s also important to note that Mohamud was identified as a potential terrorist and intercepted because a fellow Muslim warned authorities about him.

John Hinderaker at Power Line, while claiming to be “unequivocally opposed to arson and other crimes,” then went on to explain how such actions might be understandable, claiming that “a substantial percentage of Muslims favor violent efforts to wipe out other religions and cultures and establish Muslim hegemony over the world.”

Sam Adams, whom Hinderaker called “Portland’s left-wing mayor,” pledged that local residents are “not going to let this change our values of being an open and embracing city” and promised beefed-up patrols around mosques “and other facilities that might be vulnerable to knuckle-headed retribution.”

“It’s heart-warming–special patrols for mosques!” Hinderaker scoffed. “Of course, it was a Christmas tree lighting ceremony that was the target of an attempted car bombing–but that’s different. No special patrols are needed to protect Christians, evidently.”

Right, Mr. Hinderaker. No special patrols to protect Christians, except for the FBI and the entire American law enforcement apparatus that was used to anticipate and prevent an attack by Mohamud, who now sits in jail and is unlikely to see another free day in his life.

Muslim extremists are trying to turn this into a war between religions, rather than attacks by individuals. Hinderaker and others are enlisting in that same cause, focusing not on the overwhelming majority of Muslims who reject violent terrorism, especially in this country, but on the tiny hateful handful.

He and others give that minority what they want.

Is there anything that keeps Whites or any other Americans from celebrating Kwanzaa? Just because you think it’s racist doesn’t make that a fact. What’s wrong with someone wanting to start a celebration for people who’s past history was wiped clean? You’re talking about a group of Americans that can not connect to their past as many others can. You should really put on a pair of American of African descent’s shoes one day and spend some time in the life. You might come away with a different perspective then.

I don’t have to put on a black man’s shoes to experience racism. I am a white man living in Atlanta. I am subjected to the black racism every day. As to the rest of your rant? your blatant racism is not excused because “they did it first.” If whites were to put forth the practices of the black community they would be branded “racist.” That shoe fits both feet. Do you remember what Dr. King had to say on the subject in his I have a dream speech? I do. I see very few that follow that practice. Most choose to waller in self pity and racism. The made up holiday of Kwanzaa is a perfect example. Less than 5% of blacks “celebrate” it. there is a reason why. It’s made up and it’s racist. Period.

You forgot this in your cut and paste from Wiki:……..\

What you see as racist, is nothing more than an attempt at cultural awareness. Good try though. I’ll give you an A for effort.

I told you, i was short of time. I have a whole study with sources I did last year or the year before on another hard drive (that crashed). I haven’t taken the time to recover it yet. I did it because i was curious what ‘Kawanzaa” was all about. Quite simply, it’s as racist as the now dead Georgia flag and created for the same reasons by people with similar petty little mind sets.

BADA BING:

It’s amazing to see how many have the heads buried in the “Sands of Islam”.

By the way, what has this got to do with “Don’t ‘Ass’k, Don’t ‘Tail’ “?

Man, I hope that fire doesn’t mean they have to postpone next week’s stoning. Everyone enjoys a good old fashioned stoning.

Jay, do you think that the police are looking for a White Christian man who may be responsible for this? Wouldn’t that be ‘profiling’?

@USinUK – You’re a rascist and a bigot yourself for accusing a guy of being a white supremist just because he’s white.

@Southern Comfort – Quite a few terrorist DID recite the Lord’s Prayer right before bombing abortion cliniques. I’m sure you conveiniently forgot that though.
