Some travelin’ music all the way from the Big Apple

Remember that old Pace Picante commercial?

“This stuff’s made in New York City?”

That’s how I think of the Felice Brothers. “They’re from New York City? Really? Because they sure don’t sound or play like New York City.”

I’ve never had the chance to see them in person, but they’re playing next Saturday at the Earl in East Atlanta.

If you like what you hear, you might want to stop on by. And if you don’t, well, don’t. Because I sure don’t want to make things complicated on a beautiful Friday afternoon like this….

Bosch @ 3.40,

I saw 10000 Maniacs in concert in 1992…first row…Natalie Merchant was wearing a blue floral dress…and pink floral panties.

I really wonder if she realized a short dress + standing on a 5′ stage + energetic concert = flashing the 1st through 3rd rows throughout the concert.

Why do Nathan Deal and Roy Barnes support Amendment 2? But, they want to repeal the Healthcare Reform Bill. They are asking a large segment of the population to fund trauma centers that many would never use.

Regardless of how it’s funded (government tax) or $10 when making your yearly tag purchase; it’s still tax payer money and it would be mandatory. They are not asking us to contribute freely and by the big hearts in our bodies.

Why aren’t the capitalist offering to invest in trauma centers? I’m sure they could find away to get a return on their investment.

OK, I got no beef with anyone who is living the dream in a working, touring band; and as Frank Sinatra crooned; if you can make it in NY, you can make it anywhere, BUT I couldn’t get passed the accorian/washboard “solo” (technically not a solo, if there are two instruments – I guess it was a duet?). I just keep hearing my former lord and savior (everybody else’s “boss”) growling; “…well I got this washboard and accordian, and I learned how to make ‘em talk… and my car’s out back….”

Now Charlie Rangel is proposing that he have it.

Rangel, facing ethics charges in Congress, has proposed the Universal National Service Act that would require “all persons” from ages 18-42 “to perform national service, either as a member of the uniformed services or in civilian service in furtherance of the national defense and homeland security.”

The plan also authorizes “the induction of persons in the uniformed services during wartime to meet end-strength requirements of the uniformed services, and for other purposes.”

Scout ” Just because we’re holding hands doesn’t mean we’ll be taking warm showers together until the wee hours of the morning.” (Clint Eastwood voice). this isn’t a conservative/liberal thing. I don’t know that Obama was “posturing” ’cause you can sure as sh*t bet if a “conservative” was in office, he’d issue the same directive. the point is, it’s not “Islamic terrorism” it’s just terrorism. I hate to bring this up in this forum at this point on a Friday, but had W paid more attention to “Islamic terrorism” (’…bin Laden determined to strike U.S….’ August 2001 memo) maybe thinks are a bit different. my thing is, why release any statement? that’s what the bad guys want. they want attention. they want to feel like they can “direct” us. we should KNOW that DHS, FAA, DoD and others are on this 24/7, regardless of ideology. taking credit or running from responsibility is the same as the “creating jobs” nonsense.
