Protester stomped in Ky. Senate race

Since this is pretty clearly going to dominate the innertubes today:

I have no doubt whatsoever that Rand Paul and most of his supporters are appalled by what happened last night. However, I also have no doubt that in this incident and others yet to come, we are reaping the harvest of hatred sown by overheated rhetoric that treats political disagreement as betrayal and political opponents as a dire threat to America’s existence.

And on that point, it’s good to get at least SOME bipartisan agreement, notably here and here.

On the other hand, there have also been attempts to justify it and to excuse it or even celebrate it.

I think we humans all would have died out long ago had we not that bit of relief at our disposal. The profound sadness we are capable of comprehending has to be balanced somehow. Else we’d go mad.

I do think, however, a little goes a long way, and when you’re trying to make a real-life serious point, particularly about everyday politics, you don’t go for extreme analogies if you can help it. Obviously the lines get blurred a bit when you’re using humor to make a serious point, though.

For the people concerned about the tax- they have reason to be. Including everyone.

I don’t think so. First, you have to meet the income requirements which rules out a majority. Second, it is only on profits (not a sales tax). Few people will be making a profit on home sales anytime soon. I’d agree that taxes should be indexed to inflation though including marginal rates. As I’ve said a few times that I think the top marginal rate kicks in at too low an income and I also think it is too low if we want to remain a great country.

Big D, I think the overall goal is to help the country. Health care costs have to be delt with for the sake of medicare. Just think if there were no medicade – where would Drs and hospitals make up that income or will they sue the patients until they have nothing, no home no money. Insurance would be unaffordable for everyone other than the very well to do. Taking profit away from health care is the only savings if the costs are not controlled. To cut medicare will be a disaster as the lost revenues will be transfered (like insurance) to those who can pay (until they are broke). The cycle cannot continue.

You’re a little late with the voter fraud concerns, The dems are already fighting caging in Wisconsin,

One Wisconsin Now obtained an audio recording it has verified as authentic from a June 16, 2010 meeting between the leaders of the state’s Tea Party movement, led by Tim Dake, head of the GrandSons of Liberty. Dake serves as a regular spokesperson for Wisconsin’s Tea Party organizations and is widely viewed as the movement’s Wisconsin leader. The full audio, available at One Wisconsin Now’s voter protection website, http://www.SaveWisconsinsVote2010.org, details the plans for a coordinated voter suppression efforts, which is anchored in challenging voter eligibility on Election Day this November 2.

MPercy — That’s a pretty good summation of what happened.

Prior to even watching the video, from what I was reading from people freaking out about this, it sounded like this woman was taken down to the ground and repeatedly stomped on by an angry mob of Rand Paul supporters.

Then I watched the video. (saw it here)

The lady was stopped from rushing to Rand Paul, got under control and then taken carefully to the ground. While she is on the ground, some guy puts his foot on her shoulder. This guy then pushes down with his foot. He doesn’t pick it up to stomp on her, he simply shoves it down into her shoulder to give her a little jostle. Immediately another member of the crowd there you can hear saying “no, no no, come on” wanting him to stop with the needless foot to her shoulder nonsense. So the guy stops and that’s the end of it.

The people taking her down simply make sure she can’t get at Mr. Paul and immediately call for the police. Other than the one guy, who was told to knock off what he was doing by others, this is a nothing situation blown up into a “scandal!” by the Left, because they have nothing left but desperation. So they send one of their long-time radical operatives there to get some attention. Instead of debating the issues, this is what the Left does. It’s pathetic.

JDW – I agree they should pay for the benefits. From the people getting them. If you want government health care, you got to pay for it. Not someone else.

What you are describing is pay for service…if that worked everyone would already have health insurance but they don’t. Government’s job is to design the appropriate programs and make sure they are funded. Our problem is we keep designing programs i.e. Bush Tax Cuts, Part D, Iraq Wars, No Child Left Behind etc… and not funding them.

Whether the unhindged socialist moveon.org state run media employee got injured or not and the idea of liberals getting away with everything while conservatives stood by reminds me of the old maxim,”The sun dont shine on the same dogs a$$ all the time.”

williebkind, are you trying to bait me into stepping on your head? what exactly is “homosexual parenting”?
1- heterosexual parents who act like homosexuals (what Vince Vaughan might call “gay”).
2- homosexual parents who act straight (Rev. Ted H. in Colorado)
3-parents who only show love and affection to children of the same gender (Dick Cheney)
4-same-sex couples who provide children (biological or adopted) with a loving, healthy, two-parent household (too many to mention)

Now that the mindful non-partisan/demented blog-hijacker and All Time Champion of JB haters has gone, can we get back to the topic at hand – ignorant pieces of Republican trash roughing up women who dare disagree with them?

No dimwit, I’m talking about pundits, media figures and even candidates saying those things about the President. Pelosi did NOT call the tea partiers nazis, she said they were carrying swastika’s to rally and that “you decide”. Reid also wasn’t talking about a candidate he was talking about some protesters and Durban apologized for those terrible comments about the Marines. Show me an apology the right has made for the inflammatory things that have been said about the President.

Fang1944: “One more time: it was BUSH’s DOJ that decided to only pursue civil charges against the pitiful little Black Panther in Philadelphia.”
==========
And it was OBAMA’s DOJ and Eric Holder who decided to drop ALL charges against the New Black Panther activist when it was a slam-dunk case.

There is a difference between lessening the charges, but still seeking prosecution and… dropping all charges when the case is a slam dunk for the prosecution.

Yes Jay! Hopefully FINALLY the DEMS have learned what their 8 YEARS (2000-2008) of hatred spewing vitriolics has brought upon our country. Politicans are no longer “For Americans”. They are Democrats against Republicans; Republicans against Democrats.

The lady was stopped from rushing to Rand Paul, got under control and then taken carefully to the ground.

Because that woman looked so dangerous!!!

Did you notice how heavily armed she was?

And how physically intimidating she was?

I know these neo-con goons are by and large a gutless lot, but the safety of Rand Paul as an excuse to stomp her?

Jesus, what ever happened to real men in this country?

But the gutlessness gets even better.

While she is on the ground, some guy puts his foot on her shoulder. This guy then pushes down with his foot. He doesn’t pick it up to stomp on her, he simply shoves it down into her shoulder to give her a little jostle.

Tell you what Michigan, let someone step on your shoulder and face with nearly their full weight on it into a concrete sidewalk and tell me it was a little jostle.

Hopefully the cops arrest that POS and you guys can make him a martyr.

You Republican nuts and apologists are the very antithesis of gentlemen and absolutely sicken me.

can we take 5 so I can clean up my scorecard. Derek Dooley thinks the U Tennessee football team are “like the Germans” (Nazi’s) and wannabe Congressman Rich Iott from Ohio (about as close as you can get to Kentucky, without being from Tennessee) likes to dress up like a Nazi.

williebkind, this may sound confusing but, why did you ask me if my post was “a defense of homosexual parenting”? at the very least, ask me to define homosexula parenting, or better yet, share your definition with the class and I might just be able to answer your question.
