Protester stomped in Ky. Senate race

Since this is pretty clearly going to dominate the innertubes today:

I have no doubt whatsoever that Rand Paul and most of his supporters are appalled by what happened last night. However, I also have no doubt that in this incident and others yet to come, we are reaping the harvest of hatred sown by overheated rhetoric that treats political disagreement as betrayal and political opponents as a dire threat to America’s existence.

And on that point, it’s good to get at least SOME bipartisan agreement, notably here and here.

On the other hand, there have also been attempts to justify it and to excuse it or even celebrate it.

Jay –

LOL. As usual, you spend lots of time on grade school nonsense while you keep ducking the very straight forward question for which you have no answer. (I can tell because when you think you have an answer you gleefully and quickly respond. When you are stone cold busted as a hypocrite, you scurry away or whine about process. I can set my watch to your activities. Your personal behavior is almost as predictable as your generic and tedious columns.)

Look, we all know that you have a rolodex full of excuses for ducking me, but why duck Thomas? I know why and it is the same reason you duck me.

Please tell us more about the excesses of the rhetoric of others while you put a spotlight on that rhetoric. Haven’t gotten my fill of hypocrisy today.

Bush may have “signed” the 1 trillion, or 787 billion depending on who you ask, TARP fund that was put up by a DEMACRATICLY controlled house and senate. The dimacrats think that the sheeple are so stupid that we did not notice that all they did was steal that money from us and give it to their supporters, and how many jobs were created? “Of course, in addition to supplying his own over-heated and divisive rhetoric, Jay also gleefully finds the most absurd and divisive rhetoric coming from the right, thereby reinforcing the opinions of his partisan echo chamber that all who disagree with their political views are bad.

Jay’s message that over-heated rhetoric has gotten out of hand is correct. The fact that he refuses to acknowledge that he and Cynthia Tucker are as complicit as anyone on this planet in this disgusting cycle of hypocrisy is bad enough. For him to whine about it is truly pathetic.”

Jay never responded to me. Instead he ignored my question and declared victory because I had not answered in 15 minutes. Bookman is incapable of taking any action that does not involve hypocrisy.

jm, Iran is truly a no win situation. There’s no good solution. James Baker suggested we simply extend the “nuclear umbrella” to the middle east. I don’t really think the destruction of Isreal is the goal though, that’s just political rhetoric that is appealing to many in the region but would result in the destruction of Iran. Dicators aren’t martyrs. I think Iran just wants to dominate the region. 40% of the worlds oil goes through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran could shut that down and cause economic chaos but they couldn’t keep it closed unless, of course, they had a nuke.

Jay is dishonorable because he is a hypocrite when he whines about overheated rhetoric. Let me give you three reasons why:

1) He engages in overheated rhetoric.

2) He only cares about overheated rhetoric coming from folks who don’t share his narrow minded views.

3) He claims that this overheated rhetoric is dangerous, yet he constantly searches for such rhetoric and gets it in front of as many people as he can.

October 26th, 2010
2:14 pm

Ok,

the basic idea was that jay proclaimed there to be a problem with overheated rhetoric.

I asked him early on in the blog if he was to blame for any of that.

He said no and asked for examples of what i percieved to be his rhetoric.

i provided examples and Bookman continued to claim he was not responsible for any overheated rhetoric. To which I asked for a reason or examples of what made others rhetoric overheated and his not.

He claimed he was unable to explainwhy the sky was blue as well.

To which I called him dishonest.

B/C as I see it if you are going to criticise a group for doing something, then you should be honest enough to include yourself in that group if shown to have done similar things. Or at least be able to show the differences entirely or indegree. But Bookman was unable to do either.

i agreed with the idea of jay’s piece simply thought it was dishonest to exclude himself from those who excreate overheated rhetoric.

Apologies for asking you to explain my reason to you.

“It doesn’t look like I’m going to get an answer from NotMike”

Jay said that after 15 minutes. Of course, he doesn’t respond at all. That is because Jay is a world-class hypocrite.

AmVet:

Then there are those like Tilli, thomas, Ben the Independent, @@, Ragnar and LydiasDad who arguably support it covertly by throwing out useless red herring *instead* of using this opportunity to rebuke the needless and irrational violence by those Tea Partiers/Republicans.

There is so much garbage like this video being RUSHED to the airwaves and internet that I have grown immune.

Gotchas…gotchas…gotchas.

They’re endless.

OK, we’re officially off the rails. what exactly is “overheated rhetoric”? is there a correct temperature for heating rhetoric? excuse me, sir; would you like that rhetoric rare, medium or well-done? seems to me rhetoric is certainly not “rare” – but rarely “well done” (rimshot). in honor of Halloween, I say; “quote the craven, nevermore…”
