With the midterm election now just eight days away, it’s time to show your stuff. Break out your crystal balls and predict — in hard numbers — how many seats the Republicans will occupy in both the House and Senate by the time the smoke lifts off the battlefield and the polls close in Alaska and Hawaii.
Democrats are claiming that their voters are finally awakening to the challenge ahead, while Republican scoff at the notion and predict great things ahead. As of Sunday, Nate Silver, the statistician behind the fivethirtyeight blog, was predicting that the Democrats will still hold a four-vote margin in the Senate, while Republicans would have a 25-vote margin in the House.
But what’s YOUR call?
I’ll take the winner out to lunch at Manuel’s, at my expense. For you conservatives, that’s not only a free lunch, it’s a chance to tell me face to face just how wrong I am about everything (but we’ll only have an hour or so.)
The rules are easy:
– How many seats in the House will Republicans hold?
– How many seats in the Senate will Republicans hold? (For scoring purposes, each Senate seat will be valued at four House seats).
– For the tie-breaker, please predict the percentage of the popular vote that Nathan Deal wins in the Georgia governor’s race.
– All entries must be posted in this blog item, and they close at midnight Tuesday, Oct. 26.

get ready for increased gas prices starting at the beginning of the year, by two years it will be close to $4 and within 4 years we will have outrageous gas prices and manipulated shortages again.
the republicans will probably win this election and the next presidential election. doubt it if you want to, but we’re struggling now, it’s going to be very difficult when gas prices shoot up again and it’s reported that every quarter the oil companies have set a new record for profits. this just happened not too long ago and you just watch as it happens again.

Mr. Right: Of course you are right. consrvatives just whine!
Anyone notice the stock market lately? Steady climb! Also those I talk to in business have stated that work/business is picking up. That includes construction/remodeling, restaurants and specialty retail sales! Maybe we have gone past bottoming out…..but I know the Repubs can address that! More tax breaks!

“WalMart is the leading contributor to the death of small businesses in towns across the country ”
I’d say there is truth to that, for sure. Problem is, is there is obvioulsy demand for the service WM is providing. And remember, WM original business model was to build stores in rural America because those areas weren’t being served.

So, is that why the Righties went all ape sh*t crazy back in ‘07 with the SCHIP thing? Or is that why they introduced legislation to fix health care including the issues you mentioned during the years 2000-2006 when the GOP was in charge of both houses? Oh wait, that’s right they didn’t, so when was it again they did all this? Just trying to get things straight.

Dems not willing to compromise??? That’s a laugher. Obama’s biggest mistake was assuming that the R’s would approve of any of his proposals even if they were originally republican ideas. The stimulus was 1/3 tax cuts but they claim it didn’t create a SINGLE job. They proposed the mandated insurance coverage in 1993 but now say it’s unconstitutional. They blast the stimulus and then have their pictures taken standing in front of oversized novelty checks grinning ear to ear.

“WalMart is the leading contributor to the death of small businesses in towns across the country ”
I am not a fan of Wal-Mart, but it is the consumers who were the death of small businesses. They went to walmart to save a dollar and now they complain about no service. If a small business opened, would the consumer pay more to shop there? I wish they would, but they won’t.

“For you conservatives, that’s not only a free lunch, it’s a chance to tell me face to face just how wrong I am about everything (but we’ll only have an hour or so.)”
Can we get some of that on video?
It would get many hits on Youtube.
