Man, I gotta tell ya, the first week back in the harness after a great vacation is a real … pain in the posterior, so to speak. That’s especially true in the blogging world, where you’re expected to be your own one-man band.
In other words, I’m in the mood for some blues tonight. And once I started a-thinkin’ and a-cogitatin’ — you know, the blues, one-man band, and all that — I realized that there was only one place to go to kick off tonight’s episode of Travelin’ Music.
So here’s Benjamin Tehoval, doing it all to bring us the classic, oft-covered “44 Blues.”

Bosch,
I remember it well. “On August 26, 1990, a sold out concert of 30,000 at Alpine Valley Music Theatre in East Troy, Wisconsin, featured an encore jam with Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Jimmie Vaughan and Robert Cray. On August 27, shortly before 1 a.m., a helicopter carrying Vaughan en route to Chicago crashed within seconds after takeoff.” — wiki

The priorities of this administration are rather interesting. Instead of focusing on the crisis at hand, Obama wants to focus on the crisis from five years ago, no doubt to reinforce his PR strategy of if-you-think-I’m-bad-remember-who-I-replaced. In the very next step, Obama will take credit from his predecessor, who handed the withdrawal date and plan to Obama (who at least had the wisdom not to blow it). And while the Israeli-Palestinian peace process is important, it’s hardly the highest priority for most Americans, especially those struggling to keep jobs and homes.

A lot of people like to claim that Jaco Pastorius is the greatest electric bass player ever, but if I only had enough money to see one or the other of them, I would see Chris. Tony Levin deserves honorable mention as well.
Jaco was know to go to bars and barge his way on stage, demanding that the bass player give up his spot. He ultimately was killed following one such confrontation in Florida.

Oops, small correction on Jaco’s death:
“After sneaking onstage at a Carlos Santana concert September 11, 1987, and being ejected from the premises, Jaco made his way to the Midnight Bottle Club in Wilton Manors, Florida.[23] After reportedly kicking in a glass door after being refused entrance to the club, he was engaged in a violent confrontation with the club bouncer, Luc Havan. Pastorius was hospitalized for multiple facial fractures and damage to his right eye and left arm, and had sustained irreversible brain damage.”
