In which Ann Coulter complains about the competition

coulter

Joseph Farah, the nutty editor of the far-right WorldNetDaily, has gotten himself into an amusing little spat with Ann Coulter, a woman who lives in terror that somewhere there may be a spotlight that she can’t grab.

Coulter had been hired to speak to a group of gay Republicans at their annual convention in New York next month, an event that they have apparently dubbed “Homocon”. (Ken Mehlman, chairman of the Republican National Committee back in the Bush years, may or may not be in attendance.)

Farah then notified Coulter that he was canceling her speaking appearance at a WND event, accusing her of “legitimizing a group that is fighting for same-sex marriage and open homosexuality in the military.”

“Ultimately, as a matter of principle, it would not make sense for us to have Ann speak to a conference about ‘taking America back’ when she clearly does not recognize that the ideals to be espoused there simply do not include the radical and very ‘unconservative’ agenda represented by GOProud,” Farah said.

That in turn set off Coulter, who called Farah “a swine” and accused the WND folks of being “fake Christians.” Farah “is doing this for PUBLICITY and publicity alone,” Coulter complained, going so far as to call him “a publicity whore.”

You heard that right. Ann Coulter called someone a publicity whore, and she wasn’t even looking in the mirror at the time. (I’m not sure she can even SEE herself in a mirror, but I digress.)

So here’s your morning assignment, class, a “fill in the blank” exercise. For example:

Getting called “a publicity whore” by Ann Coulter is … like being called tall by Sultan Kosen.

OK, now it’s your turn.

Getting called a publicity whore by Ann Coulter is like ….

Doggone – I don’t think that exploiting your children on teevee (and other media) so that you can afford to take care of them while cranking out more is responsible. I don’t think that any 1 set of parents can give individual time/love/attention to 19 kids, which is also irresponsible.

Coulter has been engaged several times, but never married.[16] She has dated Spin founder and publisher Bob Guccione, Jr.,[26] and conservative writer Dinesh D’Souza.[44] In October 2007, she began dating Andrew Stein, the former president of the New York City Council, a liberal Democrat. When asked about the relationship, Stein told the paper, “She’s attacked a lot of my friends, but what can I say, opposites attract!”[45] On January 7, 2008, however, Stein told the New York Post that the relationship was over, citing irreconcilable differences.[46

“Doggone – I don’t think that exploiting your children on teevee (and other media) so that you can afford to take care of them while cranking out more is responsible.”

And I don’t think they are exploiting them, not any more than any other TV show that focuses on a family. The “cranking out more” is in line with their religious convictions…that God will give them as many children as they can handle.

” I don’t think that any 1 set of parents can give individual time/love/attention to 19 kids, which is also irresponsible”

And I don’t agree. The children seem to be doing just fine. In a family that large, it’s not the amount of individual attention the children get that’s important…it’s the quality of the time given. Plus, as the children grow they help each other and the parents. My Mother was one of 10, my Father one of 9 – both grew up during the Depression Era – in families that were FAR from rich, but all those children turned out fine and all but 2 (1 in each family) had children of their own.

Even though I am only 1 of two children, I have very little patience with the “individual attention” bit and it’s importance. It’s been my observational experience (since I don’t have children of my own) that the kids that turn out the WORST tend to be the ones that get TOO MUCH individual attention. They never get a chance to learn that the world doesn’t revolve around THEM. Children in a large family learn that lesson early.
