Time to hang out the “Gone fishin’ sign once again
Last week, we were talking about having a soul-themed edition of Travelin’ Music, and I still think that’s a great idea. But not tonight. When we all step aboard the Soul Train, I want to be here. And tonight, I’m not.
In fact, as I mentioned in comments earlier, I’m not going to be around for the next two weeks. And unlike my recent cross-country “vacation,” this time I’m not bringing you with me. As Rick said to Ilsa, “Where I’m going, you can’t follow. What I’ve got to do, you can’t be any part of.” I’m headed out to the high desert of Oregon again for a couple of weeks of whitewater rafting, fishing and camping, and among that region’s many charms is the fact that cell phones and computers are utterly useless out there.
So for tonight, I’ll leave you with this, a piece that serves as the official theme song for the group of guys who have made this same trip annually for almost 20 years now. In fact, somebody at work asked me the other day whether I was ever going to get too old for this trip, given that we run the trip ourselves, without guides.
“Maybe someday,” I told her. “Someday when I’m dead and buried, that is.”

I visited Burger King last night. Great burgers. Don’t know how ‘me & mine’ stay so healthy but we do. I guess conservatives know how to manage on their own without having someone tell us what to eat.. DID U KNOW: Fat kids eat too much!!!??? This fact has just been discovered by liberals. I am so glad the light has dawned upon them..

I thought you were on church patrol last night! Do you know how the intake of all those trans fats affect you? They make you very sleepy.

My junior burger is just perfect with lettuce, tomatoes. onion & pickle. No cheese. So yummy. So fine. But no fries. Just a regular CocaCola ’cause they are good too. Ahhh if only you knew.

Comfort .. Is that good or bad? How does a newborn know if he/she wants to declare allegiance (and to what) When I was a new born on a cold winters day January 15 (Same as Martin Luther King) although different years, I do remember some guy in a fedora (looked like scout) coming into my mothers room…Pressing a pen in my pudgy little fingers, and saying son sign the document. Well, this made me angry some ugly guy with pock marks, body odor, and bad teeth telling me to sign a letter of allegiance….I said this will not stand. My mother used words that I can’t say but it was something like get the F out of here CREEP!

All this talk going on here about fast food. I’m going to go put the finishing touches on my San Francisco Cioppino. Cooked the broth yesterday so it could chill over night and now will prepare the seafood along with a Ceasar salad. Don’t know how healthy it is in comparison to some other meals but it tastes good. Maybe the IRS stayed away from the Black churches because they knew there was no longer any real power there. The Black church lost most of it’s power in the 70’s. It is nowhere near as powerful as it was in the 50’s and 60’s. However, I’ve seen the Black politicians get messed with.

I do not know how anyone can compare presidential holidays, vacations and golf outings. Does the CBO or the GAO keep statistics on that? I mean who cares, really? You get to that level in life and you know you are busting your a**. I think the president, who ever he might be, has earned that time off. By they way, isn’t Congress about to take three weeks off? As for golf, perhaps, you will see Obama out there more often because he is better at it than Bush? It seems that Bush’s sport was baseball.

There were other cases but this is the “straw that broke the camel’s back” .
I spent about two months worth of taxpayer time working up a criminal case on three certified public accountants up in Gainesville, Ga. who had not filed business or personal Federal Income Tax forms for four years. All cases had to be reviewed by IRS Headquarters before they could even be presented to the U.S. Attorney. Headquaters refused to prosecute and just handled it with an audit.

I tend to agree that the worst mistake made by mankind has to be the technological advances over the last century, used to be when one wanted to heat their home they had to cut down a tree and carry the whole thing to the house. If you wanted to eat, you had to tend to the soil and slaughter whatever piece meat came walking in range.
Now all that the liberals have to do is sit around all day long, whining and moaning about how bad it is for them.

You have to love it (if you aren’t a progressive) when even the NYT’s questions the Marxist/Progressive Obama. Read the NYT’s today Op-Eds today. Even Dowd is questioning the wisdom of Michelle “Marie Antoinette” Obama and her little expensive getaway. And look at Razmusens State by State polling data. With the exception of about 4 progressive strongholds (Vermont, Maine, etc.), America sees Obama as a loser and a marxist. Even those states approval/disapproval numbers are close and polling data for the repeal of the Obamacare is almost unanious nationwide. So is the opposition to the Arizona case brought by Obama and Holder. The mere fact that Obama was elected in the first place cannot be held against the public. They were played by the media and they were in a “anyone exept Bush” mode. It looks now that they deeply regret that decision and that the feeling now is “anyone exept Obama”. America does not like progressive economics and policy because when those policies become real, as they have with Obama, we understand the ramifications.

josef, somebody mentioned that Burger King is using some beef that does not originate in the U.S.A, and made a bad inference that eating there is not patriotic somehow.
As usual, it ballooned into something completely and totally nonsensical.

BF- Perhaps the Afghans should throw off their imans, emerge from the thirteenth century and build themselves a Burger King or two.

Scout, the Marion Co. line is about 15 mi North on US 41, I lived just inside the
line, where they built the TVA Raccoon Mtn Reservoir. I lived there until I joined
the AF in 1964, just out of HS. I joined the AF because I liked the uniform and
because I was 18, unmarried, not in school. guess where I was on the draft list.

josef, mine settled there out of chattanooga,evading the confederate and
union conscription efforts and did a lot of illegal things with the natives.
