The mosque game, explained

From conservative Conor Friedersdorf:

Candidates like Newt Gingrich and Sarah Palin aren’t going to alienate the corporate interests that bankroll so many GOP campaigns, even if certain anti-corporate stances would be popular among Tea Partiers. In order to compensate, they’re going to earn their populist credentials by setting themselves up in opposition to an unpopular religious minority and railing against the mainstream media. Put another way, they’re going to garner the kind of support that won’t require them to actually act against entrenched interests should they be elected. Anyone on the right upset by “politics as usual” should wise up and understand that the candidate who most adeptly exploits culture war issues is going to continue doing so once elected. Can’t we find someone capable of directing ire at unsustainable entitlements instead of Muslim Americans?

Actually, that is very much on topic. Republicans using a social wedge issue to win elections at the expense of a minority instead of tackling the real problems which would compromise their fund raising efforts.

I guess that explains Newt’s insertion of the word “elite” (as a noun, not an adjective). It’s not just “umpopular religious minorities” he’s targeting. and well, well, well; finally, someone who has connected the “entitlement” dots with the “entrenched interest” dots.

ty webb,

“Care to let us know where Obama stands on the issue of gay marriage?”

From the White House Web site: “President Obama supports full civil unions that give same-sex couples legal rights and privileges equal to those of married couples. Obama also believes we need to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act and enact legislation that would ensure that the 1,100+ federal legal rights and benefits currently provided on the basis of marital status are extended to same-sex couples in civil unions and other legally-recognized unions. These rights and benefits include the right to assist a loved one in times of emergency, the right to equal health insurance and other employment benefits, and property rights.”

“I’m a Christian. And so, although I try not to have my religious beliefs dominate or determine my political views on this issue, I do believe that tradition, and my religious beliefs say that marriage is something sanctified between a man and a woman.” – Obama

So essentially a religious bigot, just like any other person who uses religion as as a justification for denying gays the right to marriage. Of course, he is also not out actively trying to keep gay men and women from obtaining the right to marry.

AyeUp…sho ’nuff we were.

A Government Accountability Office report to be released Wednesday will reveal that thousands of federal and private-sector employees nationwide may be committing fraud by collecting disability benefits from the federal government when they’re perfectly healthy and working full-time jobs.

In the report, the GAO found that 1,500 people improperly collected disability payments even though they had federal government jobs.

In addition, 62,000 private-sector employees in 12 states were healthy enough to get licenses to drive trucks or buses, even as they were collecting disability payments.

All in all, in 2008, workers owed the government $10.7 billion for overpayments that were made by the Social Security Administration.

I would love to see Newt and Bozo in a debate. Newt would hand him his lunch. Without a teleprompter, Bozo would fold at the knees. Even with one, Bozo would talk in circles, saying absolutely nothing. Newt is one of the most articulate, knowledgeable candidates that we have for POTUS. If they ran against each other today, tell me who would be more likely to win. The left is scared to death of Newt and takes every opportunity to Newt bash, just like they did with Palin. Both are a threat that must be demonized and slandered until they go away. But I have news for you elitist libs, especially neo-carlinist and bed wet. Saudi Arabia is a monarchy without elected representative institutions or political parties. It is ruled by King Fahd bin Abd Al-Aziz Al Saud; however, Crown Prince Abdullah has been the de facto ruler since King Fahd suffered a stroke in 1995. The Basic Law sets out the system of government, rights of citizens, and powers and duties of the State. The Basic Law provides that the Islamic holy book the Koran and the Sunna (tradition) of the Prophet Muhammad are the country’s Constitution.

Aahhh, a peaceful religious paradise this must be-

Women in Saudi Arabia have very few civil liberties. Their freedom of movement is severely restricted: they are forbidden from leaving their local neighbourhood without the company of their mahram. Women are not allowed to drive cars and need their mahram’s permission to travel by airplane, check into hotels or rent apartments. Saudi Arabia also applies rules of strict gender segregation: women are forbidden to be in physical contact with unrelated males, and unrelated men and women are separated in all public places.

Women in Saudi Arabia have little protection in relation to their physical integrity. There are no specific laws addressing the issue of violence against women, nor any adequate protection for victims.

This is not some ancient verse in the Old Testament, this is today and now, it is real.

This is the vile sickness that you liberals defend, that you apologize for, that you promote.

How can any peaceful person of any faith deny that Hamas is not a terrorist group? Hamas has killed thousands of innocents. And pertaining to 9/11, how can he try to justify MURDER of innocent non-combatant civilians in the Towers because he believes that American policy was “one” of the reasons? Rationalization can be used by anybody for any cause and this Imam seems to be a rationalizing fool. I have nothing against people that practice non-violent religion but history says, the zealots in any religion mostly prevail and Islam certainly is not any different. Islam, as perscribed in the Koran, is a religion of assimilation, forced or peaceful. The term “infidel” pretty much tells the story fo their view of non-islamists. The Koran defines a term for people that don’t accept Islam and it is plain that these people are to be treated as enemies. Anyone that capitulates to the zealots of any religion is treading on shaky ground and and not all religions are the same. Some religions accept violence as a means to and end and some don’t. Based upon recent history, you sort out who is who. The zealots are winning.

These include, for example, : the Dome of the Rock, Ram Janmabhoomi, Qawwat al-Islam Mosque at Delhi:, The Mosque at Jaunpur:, The Mosque at Qanauj:, Jami Masjid at Etwah, Babri Masjid at Ayodhya, Mosque at Benaras:, Mosque at Mathura:, buddhist temples in Afghanistan, Hagia Sophia, and the list goes on and on and on.

If you don’t understand that Muslims have been doing this for over a thousand years, then you fail (like Jay Bookman) to see the point of a Mosque at the 911 at all.

IR/YW wrote “Nazism also discriminated against a race of peoples, organized it’s hateful followers, although I don’t recall the Nazis stoning any women to death and making them cover themselves in a cloth prison.”

Perhaps that is because after killing women with poison gas and burning them in ovens, dressing them up and stoning them seemed a little redundant?

Sheesh. By the way, how many stonings have there been in lower Manhattan this year? In all 5 Burroughs? In the US? Perhaps the liberal media is covering up the Muslim stoning epidemic in America.

You were defending bookman, weren’t you?

Why are you censoring my comments, bookman?

Apologizing for the abusers of women and erasing the cold hard truth, very nice.

You know, private sector, I hadn’t looked at it in that regard, but it IS a disturbing point.

Nevertheless, all it does is make me question their sincerity even more in trying to bring about better understanding. Since we are a nation of laws, however, we cannot violate them because we don’t like what they are doing.

josef,

Too bad jewcowboy has left the building since maybe he could clear this up, but I think I scanned by a conversation a few days ago where somebody called him Jewish and he said he wasn’t

I’m about the last one here abouts to “defend” Bookman. First he’s quite capable of doing that himself and doesn’t need me and, probably, would rather I not since he does have an image to worry about! But accusing him of “defending the stoners of women” is a bit over the top. Quite frankly, in my issues with the Bruin, they are because I think he’s taking a stand too far to the RIGHT for my tastes…but, well, you just like to stir sh*t and don’t really care about rationality or civility…lacking a response from poking the Bruin, you’ll settle with a nyanh-nyanh with me, and today I am happy to oblige… :-)

josef: “Unmentionable said for us to shut up, what will the goyim think?”

Now I may be wrong…but I’m fairly certain that all those of the female persuasion who come and “play” here on Jay’s blog are what Bubby would have called Shiksa’s.

Not in the mood to delve in to deeply and argue…forgive me if all I do is watch from a distance. Too effin’ HOT outside! Just picking stuff from my garden and doing some pruning out there and it looks like I was playing the the stream… (which is not a bad idea at this time)…

kayaker 71 said Maybe they’ll have a stoning pit at the new mosque. Or have a room set aside where a husband can cut his wife’s nose off for disagreeing with him or beat her to an inch of her life for talking back or not having dinner ready soon enough. Why do you liberals condone this sort of behavior in Muslims and then treat Christians like they were a POS?

kayaker,

Here’s what the Christians are doing…

From England… A convicted murderer who stabbed his wife to death and then dismembered her body following a row over a TV programme has been jailed for life.

SAO PAULO, Brazil – A Brazilian housewife was convicted and sentenced to 19 years in prison Friday for killing her husband, chopping his body into small pieces and frying it.

Meanwhile in Boston… ACTOR KILLED WIFE AND CUT UP BODY; Chester Jordan, the Husband, Confesses to Boston Police When Arrested in Boarding House. TORSO FOUND IN TRUNK Struck Woman In Jealous Frenzy, Not Intending to Kill Her — Tried to Hide Body.

Jewcowboy and “Jewish…” I think he may have been referring to the religious part of what it means to be Jewish…but there’s also a running joke among the members of the tribe hereabouts as to who’s a “real Jew” and who isn’t…i missed it, but according to the others, one day a poster decreed them not to be “real Jews” but decided that I am!

Reading through several of these blogs regarding the mosque. I have a question to ask those “against the mosque because it’s so close to the World Trade Center site”.

How close is appropriate?

I still have not seen this answered. (but then, I work, so can’t read everything, but I try to keep up. I’ve seen the question asked multiple times, but no answer.)

IR/YW, sometimes your posts ARE vulgar.

However, you posted something about josef’s personal life; a comment both incorrect and a personal attack on something you obviously know nothing about.

I would suggest an apology from you, but I suspect that suggestion would be wasted on you.
