Newt Gingrich went on Fox last night to peddle more of his hateful, vile garbage regarding the so-called “Ground Zero Mosque,” which is not at ground zero and is not a major mosque, but an Islamic community center.
“The idea of a 13-story building set up by a group many of whom, frankly, are very hostile to our civilization — and I’m talking now about the people who organized this, many of whom are apologists for sharia, which is a form of law that I think we cannot allow in this country, period,” Gingrich said.
Once again, my longstanding Gingrich Rule proves valid. Whenever the man utters the word “frankly,” what follows is almost always the opposite of frank speech. It is instead absolute baloney. In this case, he alleges that many of the people involved in the proposal to build the Islamic center “frankly, are very hostile to our civilization.”
That’s a serious charge, and neither Gingrich nor anyone else has provided any evidence whatsoever that it is true. With inflammatory remarks of this sort, Gingrich makes Joe McCarthy look measured and responsible.
Any grudging respect I once held for the man is now gone.

you know, as an agnostic leaning toward atheism; I really can’t wrap my head around comments like; “Islam is recognized as a major religion of the world, like it or not.” first off, who has the authority to “recognize” any group or cult, religious or otherwise. it’s like Newt, Sarah, and Scout is upset because people in NYC (or Iran and Saudi Arabia, for that matter) don’t think like they think, or pray like they pray. Or that the Mayor of NYC and the zoning board, dare “recognize” the the rights of others. As others have pointed out, the number of Christian churches in Tehran or Rihyad has no bearing on the number (or location) of mosques in NYC. but don’t blame Newt, or Sarah, or even Fox News; they’re answering to a higher power (naked greed and lust for power) and they will sing any song to acheive that end. and Obama is no different. the “issues” may be different, or the “fears” (climate change, unemployment, healthcare) may be different, but it’s about votes, not terrorsim.

Why are so many “christians” on here so quick to bash muslims? Personally, I could give a crap about anyone’s religion…my issue with this is one religion trying to ban another…if you ban one, then you ban them all…which is expressly forbidden in the 1st amendment.

I’m not coming in defense of Islam per se, but merely pointing out that our country espouses religious freedom and unless we be hypocrites, we must, as Americans, respect this. I am not a religious person and I really don’t give fig about any of them, but I am an American and I served for the right of all people to worship as they please, or like me, not. That is how it is and according to our laws, how it is supposed to be.

That is not the argument that is being pushed by Newt et al., but rather that a specific religious denomination should be barred from the site due to their religion.

And in the face of overwhelming opposition from the neighborhood that is being ignored by the planning commision. If the builders had the same tolerance and sensitivity they demand from the rest of us, they would GLADLY find another site.
Just because you CAN do build it there, doesn’t mean you SHOULD build it there. (much like Jewish settlements in the West Bank)

One of Gingrich’s main points is that the group that would use this “community center” fully supports and practices Sharia Law – a strict, authoritarian religious protocol that is among other things horifically oppressive to women and essentially represents the islamic analogue of nutjob fundamentalist christians in this country (only the latter will not have you stoned to death for adultery, at least not publically). Gingrich states, essentially, that Sharia is fundamentally inconsistent with the principles of American society – a point I happen to agree with, and one that is completely ignored by Mr. Bookman. According to the Acid Test for Bigotry:
http://www.politicalislam.com/blog/the-acid-test-for-islamophobia/
If you learn MORE about the people you become LESS bigoted. But with orthodox Islam, the more you learn the less comfortable you are with it, which means it is not bigotry but reasonable caution, reasonable aversion to a supremacist doctrine that some take very seriously. Bigotry is an easy word to throw around, but its purpose is to suppress free speech rather than say something with any content.

We are like sheep volunteering to be lead to slaughter. Please read all of this.
Islamization begins when there are sufficient Muslims in a country to agitate for their religious privileges. When politically correct, tolerant, and culturally diverse societies agree to Muslim demands for their religious privileges, some of the other components tend to creep in as well.
Here’s how it works:
As long as the Muslim population remains around or under 2% in any given country, they will be for the most part be regarded as a peace-loving minority, and not as a threat to other citizens. This is the case in:
United States — Muslim 0.6%
Australia — Muslim 1.5%
Canada — Muslim 1.9%
China — Muslim 1.8%
Italy — Muslim 1.5%
Norway — Muslim 1.8%
At 2% to 5%, they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups, often with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs. This is happening in:
Denmark — Muslim 2%
Germany — Muslim 3.7%
United Kingdom — Muslim 2.7%
Spain — Muslim 4%
Thailand — Muslim 4.6%
From 5% on, they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population. For example, they will push for the introduction of halal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature halal on their shelves — along with threats for failure to comply. This is occurring in:
France — Muslim 8%
Philippines — 5%
Sweden — Muslim 5%
Switzerland — Muslim 4.3%
The Netherlands — Muslim 5.5%
Trinidad & Tobago — Muslim 5.8%
At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves (within their ghettos) under Sharia, the Islamic Law.The ultimate goal of Islamists is to establish Sharia law over the entire world.
When Muslims approach 10% of the population, they tend to increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions. In Paris , we are already seeing car-burnings. Any non-Muslim action offends Islam and results in uprisings and threats, such as in Amsterdam, with opposition to Mohammed cartoons and films about Islam. Such tensions are seen daily, particularly in Muslim sections in:
Guyana — Muslim 10%
India — Muslim 13.4%
Israel — Muslim 16%
Kenya — Muslim 10%
Russia — Muslim 15%
After reaching 20%, nations can expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings, and the burnings of Christian churches, Hindu Temples and Jewish synagogues, such as in:
Ethiopia — Muslim 32.8%
At 40%, nations experience widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks, and ongoing militia warfare, such as in:
Bosnia — Muslim 40%
Chad — Muslim 53.1%
Lebanon — Muslim 59.7%
From 60%, nations experience unfettered persecution of non-believers of all other religions (including non-conforming Muslims), sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon, and Jizya, the tax placed on infidels, such as in:
Albania — Muslim 70%
Malaysia — Muslim 60.4%
Qatar — Muslim 77.5%
Sudan — Muslim 70%
After 80%, expect daily intimidation and violent jihad, some State-run ethnic cleansing, and even some genocide, as these nations drive out the infidels, and move toward 100% Muslim, such as has been experienced and in some ways is on-going in:
Bangladesh — Muslim 83%
Egypt — Muslim 90%
Gaza — Muslim 98.7%
Indonesia — Muslim 86.1%
Iran — Muslim 98%
Iraq — Muslim 97%
Jordan — Muslim 92%
Morocco — Muslim 98.7%
Pakistan — Muslim 97%
Palestine — Muslim 99%
Syria — Muslim 90%
Tajikistan — Muslim 90%
Turkey — Muslim 99.8%
United Arab Emirates — Muslim 96%
100% will usher in the peace of ‘Dar-es-Salaam’ — the Islamic House of Peace. Here there’s supposed to be peace, because everybody is a Muslim, the Madrasahs are the only schools, and the Koran is the only word, such as in:
Afghanistan — Muslim 100%
Saudi Arabia — Muslim 100%
Somalia — Muslim 100%
Yemen — Muslim 100%
Unfortunately, peace is never achieved, as in these 100% states the most radical Muslims intimidate and spew hatred, and satisfy their blood lust by killing less radical Muslims, for a variety of reasons.
So let’s just open our arms and invite the enemy in. WAKE UP AMERICA, Quit dreaming of peace with these people!

There’s a party going on at Newt’s place (www.newt.org). He’s issued a statement on Prop 8 defending traditional marriage which is pretty funny. What’s funnier is that he’s asked for comments.
There’s 100s. Hee hee. Best so far is “Which one of your multiple marriages was the most sacred to you?”
