Newt Gingrich has become, frankly, a hate-mongering bigot

Newt Gingrich went on Fox last night to peddle more of his hateful, vile garbage regarding the so-called “Ground Zero Mosque,” which is not at ground zero and is not a major mosque, but an Islamic community center.

“The idea of a 13-story building set up by a group many of whom, frankly, are very hostile to our civilization — and I’m talking now about the people who organized this, many of whom are apologists for sharia, which is a form of law that I think we cannot allow in this country, period,” Gingrich said.

Once again, my longstanding Gingrich Rule proves valid. Whenever the man utters the word “frankly,” what follows is almost always the opposite of frank speech. It is instead absolute baloney. In this case, he alleges that many of the people involved in the proposal to build the Islamic center “frankly, are very hostile to our civilization.”

That’s a serious charge, and neither Gingrich nor anyone else has provided any evidence whatsoever that it is true. With inflammatory remarks of this sort, Gingrich makes Joe McCarthy look measured and responsible.

Any grudging respect I once held for the man is now gone.

I do not believe for a minute that Newt is a genuine hate-mongering bigot. He is, however, an amoral hate-mongering OPPORTUNIST looking for an opening to exploit the weakest of human emotion, fear, for his own political gain. He knows fear and reason cannot coexist, so maybe his plan is to keep Republican primary voters so off-balance they won’t think about the unfortunate personal baggage he’s been carrying around, a cynical ploy he calls “leadership”.

A mind can be so open that it actually cannot contain anything. Does a country need to be attacked in a very defined moment or event before a liberal will react in it’s defense. You can see the heart attack, but not the cancer. Is their anything about America that is worth defending. If so, how would you do it? All things deemed as “rights” and “freedoms” in this country are usually extrapolated by those would use them only as tools destroy the said same rights and freedoms.

Here is what the Associated Press said:

PHOENIX — A federal judge on Wednesday blocked the most controversial parts of Arizona’s immigration law from taking effect, delivering a last-minute victory to opponents of the crackdown.

The overall law will still take effect Thursday, but without the provisions that angered opponents — including sections that required officers to check a person’s immigration status while enforcing other laws.

newt just wants to get attention among republican voters, and this is the way to do it. but newt hasn’t changed. ask people who worked on congressional staffs when he was in congress. or his former wives.

“As someone pointed out in a previous thread, how many Georgians would be happy getting a speeding ticket from an ICE agent?”

If GSP wasn’t doing it’s job, I for one would certainly hope some agency would step in and fill the void………..

Saul,
What I meant by a christian country are two things. Our country was established by those western europeans who were overwhelmingly christian and all polling that I have seen indicates the country is still predominantly christian. I do not consider myself religious. As far as the constitution and religious freedom goes there are now and have always been constraints on what constitutes a religion and what the members of any religion may do in their religions name. The language of the constitution, no matter how well thought out and all encompassing, can ever compete with someone who is truly looking to have it undone. It becomes a weapon of its own destruction. We have had a decent few hundred years.

md,

“And please do tell, why that state should even be in a position to feel the need to take over enforcement??

It does not matter why…it is not their responsibility.

md, please, that law should be showcased in the new TV program, “Cons Gone Wild” — it’s a political stunt — there is no way in hell that AZ could prove in a court of law that the feds aren’t doing anything to combat illegal immigration in that state. It’s ridiculous.
