To start this Friday on a lighter note, this is pretty funny:
Back when I was in college (Carnegie Mellon class of 2000), a friend who was attending the University of Chicago gave me a placard that was posted hither and thither on Chicago’s South Side: a dorky-faced guy with a ridiculously toothy grin smiling out at us. It read
“Barack Obama
for State Senate”My buddy Josh and I thought this was hilarious. Over the years, we turned the guy on the placard into a superhero. We’d be studying for one hard exam or another and would say to one another: “You know who could ace the piss out of this test right now?” The other would respond, “Barack Obama!” to which the first would respond, inevitably, “… for state senate!”
Or we’d be at the gym: “Man, these weights are tough! … Know who could lift them without breaking a sweat?” “Barack Obama!” “… for state senate!”
The years go by. It’s 2004. There’s a dude up on the stage at the Democratic National Convention who’s making everyone ask, “Why do I have to vote for Kerry? Why can’t I vote for this guy?” Josh and I called one another: “Uh … dude, do you see who’s on stage right now?” It was surreal.
It’s still surreal. Every few months it occurs to me afresh that Josh and I were making this obscure local politician the punchline of a joke probably a decade before he became president of the United States. Bizarre.
You may now commence with the “He’s still the punchline of a joke” discussion.

I took the day off, slept in and now I’m rarin’ to go. Mrs. Normal is having a “Girls night” tonight and I’m designated chef. Get to try new recipes out. Before that, though, we are going to finish the bedroom my Mama will use if she has to come here to stay for awhile. Have a great day, and I’ll try to check in for the music.

He is, simply, the embodiment of everything that is wrong in America. The product of race mixing anf raised by kindly white grandparents, he disavows his white heritage to consort with black nationalists like Rev Wright. A prouct of the scholarship/affirmative actions programs without which he would never had access to the Ivy Leagues, he ends a voucher program for poor children in our nationals capital. America was the only place on the face of the earth where he could have risen from his humble beginnings to be more than a waiter or male prostitute, now he puts the interests of the labor unions ahead of his country, both here and in Colombia where his actions undermine our nation al security.
It was national guilt over race and an uninformed, ignorant populace, fueled by a radical media, and unable to understand the true greatness of the Bush Presidency that led to his unfortunate ascendance.

As some here would lead you to believe, I thought he was the embodiment of the anti-Christ himself. After reading posts like that, it makes me wonder about the mental stability of some of our citizens here.

History will confirm that President Bush, while faced with unprecedented challenges, was among our greatest Presidents.
If President Bush and Vice President Cheney were still in the sadlle, this Deepwater Horizon would have been finished a long time ago. They would have helped the nation rather than being held hostage by labor union interests and accepted help from the Netherlands and, with a high degree of certainty, the message would have been clear to Halliburton, “Fiox this now, no matter the cost.” Those are the things a President who isn’t encumbered by special interests the way Obama is, can get things done.

I dont think he is a superhero or a joke. He is a man who has stepped into one of the biggest messes in American history and trying hard to get us out. What hurts us as a country is he has one of the two major parties vowing to vote no on anything that is proposed , even if they agree with the bill , they are going to vote no. They put out so called “compromises” that they know no one but them will vote for just to delay and still a bill that will help Americans.
And their newfound worry about the debt (11.8) trillion under Reagan , Bush 1, Bush 2 is laughable.

be careful with your predictions, they elected W… twice.
Amongst the tea tard set Palin is a shoe-in for the nomination, and if they can scare enough old people out to vote with immigrant boogeymen and death panel lies, she will become our next president. Of course the moonbats will probably assist as much as possible by nominating windbags like Kerry or Biden, or far far lefties like Pelosi or Rangel…
This is not an implausible scenario, it’s quite likely to come to pass. Remember, they voted for W… twice. And all it took was some scary talk to the anti-gubbimint crowd about Social Security going under. Priceless, elected twice on the fear that a gubbinmint handout was in danger, now those same folks shake thier collective fists and cry and scream about gubbimint handouts, but try and take away thier medicare and SS…

Now as everyone knows, my family and I have a long history with the coloured that goes all the way back to long before the War of Northern Agression. All my children have had coloured nannies, so I’m no racist. In fact, when I am at our country place and see a descendant of the colourded families that lived on our farm before the War of northern Aggression, they are always very happy and excited to see ol’ Mr. Byll.
How could I be racist when I have partaken of many of the attractive coloured women in Brazil and the Carribean. I treat those gals no differently than a South American gal who is of Gemanic descent.
It is because of my closeness to the coloured that I deeply understand those people. Now at the faerm, we’ve had to go wholly to using Salvadorans as help because they don’t have the drinking and drug problems of the coloured and they don’t want an advance on pay all the time. Used to be, when the coloureds went to church and got married, that you could count on some of them and there was some social fabric in the community, no that they all want to be like Porn Diddy, or whatever his name is, they are a shiftless bunch.
I’m not racist, just knowledgeable.

But he did such a spectacularly abysmal job, that he left the republic in a clusterf&ck of heretofore unseen proportions. The deadly damage those fake conservative buffoons left, ain’t gonna be cleaned up in a decade much less 18 months.
“History will confirm that President Bush, while faced with unprecedented challenges, was among our greatest Presidents.”
Greatest at what, saltine boy? Dreadfully mishandling virtually every one of those challenges?
Every single ranking of American Presidents I have ever looked at, has him in the bottom five. The shocker is how on gawd’s green earth did those other Republicans like Hoover get ranked lower than him?
And on this one, it’s not even close. George of the Bungle wins in a landslide!
“Which of these eleven presidents we have had since World War II would you consider the worst president — Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower, John Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George Bush Senior, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush?”
1. George W. Bush (34%)
2. Richard Nixon (17%)
3. Bill Clinton (16%)
4. Jimmy Carter (13%)
5. Don’t Know/No Answer (5%)
6. Lyndon Johnson (4%)
7. George H. W. Bush (3%)

Anyone who looks to a politican, and/or the government to “make things better” or help improve their lives has to be mentally ill.
Democrats, and thier child-molestor counterparts in Washington (sometimes referred to as “congressman” or “senator) are nothing more children in adult bodies who seek an outside force to replace their parents.
This outside force is of course government.
Now, the idea of government itself isn’t an evil idea.
But it is populated by evil human beings.
In particular, congress and the senate are made up of child molestors, murderers, racists, crooks, liars, homosexual degenerates, and “fisting” fanatics.
These lowlives, if forced to work in the private sector, wouldn’t be qualified to clean out the spackle of a McDonalds on Buford Highway.
But here they are, making laws and regulating how we the people are to live.
Here they are, trying to tell us where to get our news from….how much of our money we’re allowed to keep…while they go off to Brazil to fist farm animals on our dime….or off to Thailand and grope children as Barney Frank is apt to do.
Yes. The child molestors/baby killers/crooks and liars in Washington may be held in high esteem by the mentally deranged Democrats, but they don’t fool me.

“George W. Bush one of the Best Presidents Ever” – TAHT IS REALITY.
He was dealt a very difficult hand:
Had to fight a treacherous, cunning, immoral enemy at evry turn and, twhen he was done fighting Pelosi and Reid, he had to deal with Al Qaeda, too.
The Democrats created such a horrible Frankenstein at Fannie and Freddie that while President Bush had been warning about and fighting against the GSEs, the effects of Fannie and Freddie drug down the economy.
Taxes were too high and the economy way over regulated, but, unfortunately, the regulators were incompetent. For eample, look at the derivatives business, every player was heavily regulated and the regulaotrs reviewed evry book of business, but the regulaotrs never understood and never had an independant view of the risk inherent in derivative transactions. they were the only ones with a global view, albeit. interagency, of the derivatives market, but they weren’t smart enough to ask the right questions, so they kicked the can down the road to an economic meltdown.
President Bush won the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and know Obama has snatched (possible) defeat from the jaws of victory in Afghanistan. Our efforts to establish democracy in the middle east, is the second most noble human endeavor, trailing only the perfect sacrifice of our Lord and Saviour.
The American public already views the Bush Presidency more favorably that the Obama Presidency. History will confirm President Bush as a great leader and a remarkable Christian man.

Rasmussen today….. only 27% of the electorate strongly approve of Bozo’s performance. 40% strongly disapprove and up to 65% either strongly disapprove or disapprove of the direction the country is heading. Harry Reid’s son seems to have dropped his last name from his campaign ads to avoid the association with good old Harry. Bozo looks to a Bush appointed general to pull his bacon out of the fire in Afghan….. the same general that Moveon. org called General Betrayus (for some reason the pictures of him on their website are gone). Bozo has retained Gates, a Bush appointee to run defense and given command of this mess in Afghan to someone that Bush appointed to turn the tide in Iraq. See any more derogatory ads in newspapers about Patreaus lately? Now he’s the golden boy because not a clue Bozo appointed him. Patraeus ought to tell all of those idiot liberals to shove it and file his papers to run against Bozo in 2012. Bozo usually buries his political opponents. Hyperbolic rhetoric, but I get your point.

Ain’t gonna happen. The MOST you’ll see, is this timid “Well, I didn’t agree with everything Bush did” ????? And they seem so flummoxed as to why nobody buys their new-found outrage and testicular fortitude.)
Peadawg, you know how I feel and what I have written about BHO. I voted against him and cannot in ten lifetimes, imagine doing otherwise. I have been quite gracious and given him a grade of C- to date.
Notwithstanding that their “base” is obviously and consistently clueless and/or delusional, at least with the craven neo-cons like Bush/Cheney/Rumsfled/Rove/Frist/DeLay ad nauseum, it was clear to many of us what we were getting – proven big time losers as evidenced by a long track record of being such.
Now the ever-conned are incensed because BHO pulled a Bush on his “base”. And ran as something he clearly is not – a liberal. He is just, as I predicted before his election, another pro-war, pro-crime, anti-working class corporatist, just this time in populist clothing.
And I will not spend much time defending his being GWB the Second, but I have also listed his numerous accomplishments in office. So, from that standpoint, as bad as he is, he is STILL an enormous upgrade from the colossal failure of an ahole that preceded him and left us in this collective shiitehole…

Peadawg, we get it. It is a particularly sad refrain. You’d love to sweep the catastrophe called Bush/Cheney under the rug and just pretend his legacy and horrific results are no big deal. But he did such a spectacularly abysmal job, that he left the republic in a clusterf&ck of heretofore unseen proportions. The deadly damage those fake conservative buffoons left, ain’t gonna be cleaned up in a decade much less 18 months.
++++++++++++++++++++
So from your perspective he gets pass on job performance for ten years because things were so missed up. I don’think the American people will buy that one.
Plus the Democrats were in control of congress since Jan 2007.
I have seen allot of people take over jobs and blamed their predeccors for their problems but at some point people grow tired of the exsuses. All presidents who come after a president of another party blame their predessor. Reagan did it. Bush did it. Clinton did it.
But at some point people get tired of it.

It’s hard being a redneck these days. You open up a newspaper and there’s a picture of a President and it’s one of Those People! What a disgrace for America!
Anyhow, it’s a good thing that pretzel didn’t get My President. We could of missed out on alot. Any fair-minded Southrener would put him right up there with George Washington. He is attempting to change this country into a third world country, where we are all equal in our poverty. he will only be happy when we are standing in line with our bowls for the government food that will be apportioned depending on how well connected you are to your local politician. The politicians, and eventually only a few politicians will run the whole show. Just like west Africa, where they live behind stone walls, have the only electricity in the country fed into their complex, and shoot anyone who tries to take a photo of them. Tell me it ain’t so. But given the heavy handedness of this man he is no clown. He is a disaster. If President Bush and Vice President Cheney were still in the sadlle, this Deepwater Horizon would have been finished a long time ago. They would have helped the nation rather than being held hostage by labor union interests and accepted help from the Netherlands and, with a high degree of certainty, the message would have been clear to Halliburton, “Fiox this now, no matter the cost.” Those are the things a President who isn’t encumbered by special interests the way Obama is, can get things done
Why oh why do Bush and Cheney hate America so much that they won’t help? They and they alone have the solutions to the Gulf disaster. They kept us safe from oil during their 8 years. Why are these superheros, so loved by real Americans and so very popular, speaking out so loud and clear on how to solve this and being ignored I must have heard them speak out on every channel last night….Oh wait…no. Cheney hates America so much he wont even call Halliburton.

Mayor McCheese, I beg to differ. We are not a “knowledge based economy”. We are a wealth based economy. Those (like the Bush family) born into wealth “screw around” as much as the “liberals” you disparage, but they can literally afford to do so. Some folks (Bill Gates, Larry Ellison, Steve Jobs, Marcus/Blank, Warren Buffett, etc.) have successfully turned knowledge into wealth, but most of the “wealth” in this country has been inherited, not earned. Not saying it’s good or bad, but it’s no different than some schmuck winning the lottery – has nothing to do with “knowledge”.

Only on America do we have the freedom to belittle our Presidents. What a country. As for President Obama; thank God he is smart! Only a very smart man could survive the crap being thrown at him and still avoid another Great Depression. Assaults from the right, left and he still is keeping his head when all around are losing theirs. That is why he is President. Our country has been in a mess for at least 8 years and then a new natural disaster and ironically the tables were turned…God works in mysterious ways. Not those poor Black people in New Orleans who for the most part never made it back home, but the largely white population that benefits from tourism and the “fishing” industry. All those Republican Oil friends of Bush could have put up the money to help do something about that oil clean up. People would put on suits and masks to go on the beaches. I helped gut houses in New Orleans with a non profit. I hope Obama does not go for a second term. Give it back to the GOP and let Sarah lead us out of the wilderness. As to your Reagan hate, you might remember that he won a second term against McGovern and carried 49 of the 50 states. Think that Bozo could pull that off? Not to mention the fact that when Reagan died, the nation had a two day period of national mourning with untold people paying their respects to him at the nation’s capital. it appears that not in the last 40 or so years has a president of this country started with such a high approval rating and after 18mos, ended up lower than anyone since the 50s.
Golly, ya think maybe for a little while there the nation that fought a Civil War over slavery, more-or-less united in its pleasure over finally, FINALLY, overcoming this particular color barrier? Yes, it was symbolic and it came back down to a few points of the 2008 popular-vote margins, but in those heady pre-”I hope he fails” > “it will break him” days, we didn’t have the entire political opposition goose-stepping in unison, and of course BHO benefited.
(Anyway, you want to watch someone piss away high approvals, look at the last guy in the White House.)
As to your Reagan hate, you might remember that he won a second term against McGovern and carried 49 of the 50 states. Think that [President Obama] could pull that off?
1) Run Sarah Palin against BHO and it might happen.
2) I didn’t/don’t hate Reagan, I do hate the idolatry some have for him.
3) I know you didn’t really mean to type “McGovern,” so I’ll refrain from having fun with that. Although the 1972 election ought to give everyone pause before they imagine that anyone’s past political performance is an accurate indicator of future earnings, so to speak.
one other thing:
As to the only 27% of the electorate who strongly approve of [President Obama]….. the truth hurts, doesn’t it?
If you’re really interested in what I think of Rassmussen I’ll share. Otherwise, just go on believing what you like of their stupid “Presidential Approval Index.”

Confidence Waning in Obama, U.S. Outlook
“Americans are more pessimistic about the state of the country and less confident in President Barack Obama’s leadership than at any point since Mr. Obama entered the White House, according to a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll.
Sixty-two percent of adults in the survey feel the country is on the wrong track, the highest level since before the 2008 election. Just one-third think the economy will get better over the next year, a 7-point drop from a month ago and the low point of Mr. Obama’s tenure.
Amid anxiety over the nation’s course, support for Mr. Obama and other incumbents is eroding. For the first time, more people disapprove of Mr. Obama’s job performance than approve. And 57% of voters would prefer to elect a new person to Congress than re-elect their local representatives, the highest share in 18 years.”

He screws up everything he touches and then blames the result on someone else. It is never his fault. His narcissistic, chin in the air arrogance is disgusting. He dismisses the military as an annoyance, the opinion of the majority as uninformed and disagreement as not being loyal. He characterizes those with a distaff opinion as barriers to his grand plan to “transform” this country in his own image. Everyone who doesn’t buy his Marxist ideas or has other solutions is ignored. All in all, the mark of a real leader, wouldn’t you say? And we have two and a half more years of this mess.

I’m not happy with some of the things he’s doing, but overall…
I think it was Larry earlier who had it nailed. He stepped into this job with more on his plate since FDR. Given the hostility he has faced at every turn, I’m amazed he has been as successful as he has.
I’ve also learned that the more his detractors scream, the more he is doing to help us. My opinion, for what it’s worth, is he is a leader and will be a great President.

The economy was doing well until the democrats took back over the house and senate in 2008. The housing crisis was a big factor in bringing down the economy. Fannie and ginnae and the gov’t involvement in the mortgage industry were big factors collapse. Bush sounded the alarm and expressed concern over these areas. Barney Frank and Chris Dodd, both democrats said all was well. It wasn’t. For all you Bush haters, probably progressive liberals, unions, people on gov’t assistense, etc your democratic constituency let me say many people disapproved of Bush from the republican party. For much different reasons that you. At least we are intellectually honest. You folks will mostly likely never realize the damage that is being done to our economy, military and country by this president, his appointees and the democrats in the house and senate. Look at the liberal, democratic state like California, New York, etc they are drowning in entitlements and union abuse

Fletch, I have not stated an opinion on eliminating generational wealth – because my opinion means nothing. I simply stated that most of the wealth in this coountry is inherited and not the result of “knowledge”. If you have the chance, find a copy of a documentary called “Born Rich” – it was directed and produced by one of the Johnson & Johnson heirs. I am amused by your use of the word “fortunate”. Mr. Webster describes fortune as; “…something good and unforseen…” I’d say inheriting a trust fund is not exactly “unforseen” (unless you’re Warren Buffet’s kids, but he didn’t inherit his wealth).

Obama, certainly is no super hero but neither is he a joke. He came to office as a far-left candidate, however, the independents who got him elected didn’t perceive him to be on the far left. They perceived him to be center left. America is pretty much a centrist country. A few steps to the right is okay and a few steps to the left is okay. An elected president that goes as far right as Obama has gone to the left typically find themselves with the low approval ratings that Obama owns now and in all likely hood he’ll be a one term president. He’s not a joke because he pursues his unpopular agenda regardless of what Americans think in a reckless pompous manner that will leave us in even a greater mess than what we had before he took office. I must give him some credit though for pissing off the left as well as the right. He’s mired down now in a war that really can’t be won that’s very unpopular with most Americans regardless of political ideology and he now finds himself getting deeper and deeper.

It also loses points with moderates because Obama proclaimed or his supporters proclaim he was different than all those Washington politicians. However,

Talk about a joke! How dare Obama blame Bush for the current predicament! Here are some quotes I think you will find interesting:
“I tell you what the numbers are showing. They’re showing that we’ve inherited an economic slowdown and the country is in an economic slowdown. And so what a President should ask and what the Congress should ask is what can we do to stimulate economic growth. And we responded with tax relief.” – George W. Bush 8/23/2001
“The President’s policies, complemented by 12 interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve to ease deflationary pressures, are succeeding. Despite the recession we inherited and despite 9/11 and the corporate scandals, this economy is growing. America has now entered its second year of economic growth.” Dick Cheney 1/10/2003
And finally, when asked by a REPORTER… “and we’re running a $455 billion deficit, as are you, all other things being equal, wouldn’t you be upset about it?”
BUSH replied, “Let me tell you something, the deficit was caused by a recession which we inherited and did something about. The deficit was caused because we spent more money on fighting a war, and the American people expect a President to do what is necessary to win a war. So I look forward to taking this debate on. I really do. We did the right thing when it came to tax relief. We inherited a tough situation.” 8/14/2003

The Dems actual took the House and Senate in Jan 2007. The problems in the housing market started prior to 2007. Bush was also in favor of expanding home ownership plus Greenspan keep interest rates low fueling the housing bubble. Also, there was resistance by both Bush and Clinton administration to regulate parts of the financial industry that contributed to the downfall of the economy. The financial industry is a heavy contributir to both parties.
Unfortunely, for both conservative and liberal, democrats and republicans their is blame all around. I wish one party was at fault that would make correcting the problem easy.

OTPVol, very good post. I think the difference between Carter and Obama lies somewhere between Carter’s humility and Obama’s hubris. Of course, this is as much due to the eras (1970’s vs. 2000’s) and their cultural/ethnic values (white, Christian, southern Democrat from two-parent home, born and raised in same hometown vs. black, hybrid indoctrination, northern – CHICAGO – Democrat from single family home, who moved often). and, I am not some “he’s a Muslim” birther. They were born and raised in different environments and different eras, but I think they were both, as you note “idealists” who for whatever reason did not demonstrate the ability to lead a nation. As a sidebar, I think Carter had some decent “ideas” – he was the first to warn of the geo-political and economic consequences of our consumerist gluttony and dependence on oil, but again, perhaps the dream that things could be played out any other way, prevented effected his leadership. I think Obama is, as was noted (Bada Bing, I think) like a hologram or some “post-Bush” fabrication. Very much form over substance, which unfortunately is the nature of the beast in contemporary politics. You gotta sell the sizzle, not the steak, right?

President Obama is already one of the greatest presidents this country has ever had. I believe that by the end of his 2 terms, he might very well be hailed as the greatest ever, because of the nature of the enormous problems this country has because of mistakes, actions and inactions by past presidents. In just 18 short months, President Obama has already pulled the American economy literally out of the ditch and turned it around, provided healthcare for most, if not all, Americans (we are the last civilized country to do so for its people), appointed (and is in the process of appointing) 2 female Supreme Court justices, won a Nobel Peace Prize, presided over the safe rescue of a ship’s captain from pirates, improved our relations with people all around the world (including China and Russia), begun to pull our troops out of Iraq, gotten BP to put up $20 billion as the START of a fund to reimburse aggrieved fisherman and their families — the list goes on and on. How many past presidents ever had to deal with even ONE of these challenges? Those who did can be counted on one hand, and NONE ever had to deal with them all.
Just one of these successful accomplishments in a 4 or 8 year term would have been hailed as a success for any other president, but just think — President Obama has done ALL of them — in just 18 short months. There is still a lot to do; no other president has inherited the kinds of problems this president has, but we can all thank God that we have President Obama in the White House, because he is so obviously the man for the job in these treacherous times in which we live.

Is this column a clown oro a joke. Boy you better be glad that this isn’t a socialist or communist country because you will be locked for such a title.Where are all of these daily/minute by minute polls coming from because no one had contacted myself for my friends YET. The Republicans are complaining about his policies but they have not come up with any solutions. Why wasn’t Haliburton mentioned in the oil spill along with BP, when they had some employees on the rig as well. Makes you wanna go hmmmmmm. I have never in my life seen a politcal party hell bent on destroying a man on purpose. They are acting like gangsters or sore losers who lost their ponies. The Republicans are not working they are campainging for 2012 in 2010 and you folks are toooo stupid to see it. They have been pissed since the election, they have been pissed since the healthcare reform got pissed, they are really pissed becuase he got 20Billion out of BP since they were saying he was doing nothing since the oil spill. Was I the only one who saw his first trip to the Gulf Coast as soon as it happened while they were screaming he went a month later.. They are going to roll over and die when he gets Bin Laden. I can’t wait and it is gonna happen soon.

TRUTH,
What have the Democrats given you? Besides some sense of entitlement to sit on your butt and collect a check every month. The Democrats praise you for making nothing of yourself, but tax the hell out of you and penalize you if you make something out of yourself. Does that sound right to you? Does a crack head, drunk, or sorry piece of crap deserve the same lifestyle as a doctor, lawyer, engineer, business owner that put their selves through school and did what they were supposed to? Give me a break with all that garbage that the Republicans were the ones that screwed you. The Democrats are doing the exact same things that you said you wouldn’t vote for. Grow a set and make something of yourself, instead of letting the government and hard working Americans pay for your laziness and keep your head just above water, while you step on the heads of others to keep you air coming.

You seem to be excusing the problems or performance so far of the country during Obama administations (sic) (You may want to consider proof reading or getting a spell checker) on the problems of Bush and before you said it would take at least 10 years to clean it up.
And you seem to have a very difficult time with standard written English. Just this morning, I gave Obama a grade of C-. And inferred he deserved worse. Is this, to a “reasonable person”, a ringing endorsement? I have excoriated him on this very blog on a wide variety of topics form HCR to his dreadful continuation of much of the idiotic “War on Terror”.
I believe a reasonable person would conclude your blaming the performance of the country so far under Obama on Bush and that much of what is negative for the next ten years will be Bush’s fault.
I don’t know what “reasonable person” you are alluding to, but pray tell, it is not you. Nor your fellow apologists.

Y’all got your guy in office, your voice was heard, he is failing all of us, and now your negative voice is being heard and people are admitting mistakes on voting for him. Not to mention he vacations every week, gives the queen of England an iPod, remember she’s like 90, and surrounds himself with people like Pelosi, who’s state is bankrupt and she can’t even help control. Yeah, he is the right man to be leading this country. All I’ve seen is more debt, more unemployed, more foreclosures, and did I mention more debt, in his 18 months in the White House. Oh yeah, don’t let me forget about that small oil spill that is still gushing, ruining the lives of people all along the Gulf, and that’s making its way to my Panama City beach house as we speak. I don’t understand why this has, and always does, turn into a “racial” thing? This is about an opinion from the reading stating their opinion if he is a joke or not. Stop bringing the “Racial” card into this. Or better yet for the people of all skin colors that want to base their “hate” on skin color, start your own blog because hating just because of a skin color makes the majority of us sick. No one brought up the “Race Card” when W was in office so let’s not start now because we have a president that is half black and half white.
The bottom line, no matter who posts what, is that Dems are going to back obama and the Repubs are going to blast him. And, by the way folks, this is all according to God’s design. I believe this country has had its chance and has blown it. When God has given nations in the past chance after chance and they continue to get worse, it usually means that God’s grace is about to give out on this country and we have but only ourselves to blame!

The ATMOSPHERE for advancement and prosperity have better occurred when a Democrat was in the White House; the ability to find employment was better for me when a Democrat was in the White House….for the length of unemployment was less than 90 days….whereas when a epublican was in the White House, I was unemployed for up to TWO YEARS! HBD,
You can not sit there and honestly propose that your job skills and advancement in this country has been a roller coaster ride based on the political powers in office. Maybe you should polish up your skills and hold a job for more than a political term. If you’re incapable of doing so, then that sounds like a personal problem, not a political party problem. If you want to believe that Republicans target you and fire you from a job when they are in power, then you sir are crazy, and there is no need in defending my claims. This country is the greatest place on Earth where anyone can make something of their selves no matter of their race, background, people in power, or anything, so it is very short sided of you to blame a political party for your ups and downs in life. And I have experienced a few ups and downs in my life as well, but don’t point the finger at the President, especially when the finger always ends up pointing back at me when the storm clears and I realize the real reason.

Economic Spiral? It’s people exactly like you that denounce George W. and call him the worst ever. It’s not his fault that you and others like yourself can’t hold jobs. Go ahead and blame him for all of your troubles, it’s exactly what Liberals do. You know, point the finger at someone else and divert any question that may hurt your stance on a topic. Yeah, the wars have cost this country, but Obama doubled the deficit in less than a year with something that hasn’t done a damn thing to help America’s situation. George W. lowered your taxes, and allowed you to keep more of your pay check, but I guess that point is moot since he was a Republican and you couldn’t find a job or hold one as you put it. Luckily Obama is a Democrat and you have companies beating down your door for you to be an employee of theirs in this hard economic time, right?

Contractor, I have long maintained there is little difference between Bush and Obama, save a few ideological trademarks. But let’s be honest about W. His “tax cuts” increased the deficit, which has not “helped” America. You issue him a hall pass on the wars; the cost of which was not added to the deficit until Obama took office. Ditto the TARP tab, which was opened within weeks of Obama’s election, and handed to him when he was sworn in. Make no mistake, Bush’s wars were a “stimulus package” for oil companies and defense contractors, just as TARP was a “stimulus” package for Wall Street, and very little of Obama’s “stimulus” fund ever filtered down to Main Street. This whole he said/she said nonsense reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Elaine and Puddy are talking to the priest about heaven and hell and he considers their situation as says; “…it’s easy – you’re both going to hell.” I could care less if Obama is a Marxist, or a Muslim, or black, or white, or mixed-race. He campaigned on the promise of “transparency” in DC and a “change” to the status quo inside the Beltway. Any President’s policies are mere window dressing to keep his party’s base happy, but ALL presidents are beholden to special interests and not any base. Obama has failed to fulfill his state promise(s) and has lost his “vision”. I guess this makes him neither a “joke” or a “clown” but simply a failure. Bush, on the other hand, was a “success” in terms of funneling money – what some like to refer to as the “redistribution of wealth” – to his corporate benefactors, so in that regard he was a great president, if you accept he never really made any promises to the American people to begin with.

I have PERSONALLY been told that certain employment laws..i.e., Affirmative Action, equal opportuinty….would NOT be enforced under the Reagan Administration!! Unemployment periods were extended for upwards of TWO years…and that paradigm continued under Republican rule. When Democrats were in power, my salary almost quadrupled in a four-year period…working in private industry!! When 9/11 hit, my company (United Airlines) LAID OFF 25,000 people in a two-week period…and many of us have YET to recover from that!! Under Obama, I was able to return to the industry I loved being in….and that happened in LESS than six months!!

Bush was not a paleocon and Obama is not a paleolib. They’re both politicians, which makes them twin sons from different mothers. when you are born into wealth like Bush, do you actually think “ideology” matters? only if country clubs, boarding schools and the like have ideological roots? for neo-liberals political power is the currencey (think pimp/hooker), but for neo-conservatives it’s not about the color of the skin, but the color of money folks (think post-industrial robber baron). I can agree with you on what you said. I was still a tad young when George W ran for his first term, so I can’t recall exactly what his campaigning was like, but if you said he didn’t promise anything, then he is not held to anything is how I see it. NOW, I don’t see that as letting him off the hook to do what he wants and ruin America, but I think he gets a ‘B’ average from me as far as what he did in his tenure. I believe he was un-fairly criticized for 9/11, and then Katrina, so the flood gates were open for the war and everything else once people sank their teeth in. I just know Katrina was a natural disaster that no one could have stopped.
Obama like you said promised the world to everyone. Low class people were singing his praises thinking their mortgage was gonna get paid and that they were never have to worry about money ever again. He said he was bringing troops home, hasn’t happened, said the economy would flourish under his time, it has only sunken lower. I understand it’s not like a light switch, but I believe a year and a half is enough time to get the ball rolling. And personally, I absolutely hate his stance on immigration, and how he tries to put that in the very back of his agenda, unless it’s fighting to knock down a law he doesn’t see eye to eye with. He has forced Healthcare on this country.

Affirmative action is a mistake in itself. You bark against the same people you claim that are against you, but you sit there and use your skin color to advance yourself to a level that you may not deserve. Don’t get me wrong, if you deserve it, then, you deserve all good things that come to you. But getting a job, admission to a college solely based on color is completely racist and shouldn’t be allowed in this country.
Your income quadrupled? How did that happen? So you’re saying that Republicans were using that money you weren’t making and giving it to something else, but the Democrats are just handing over more money to your industry to put in your pocket? You can not sit there and blame the Republicans because you were laid off, and were for two years. Did you ever think of going out and finding another job instead of sitting on your tail for two years? It’s a filthy lie if you tell me you continued to looked for work, and turned over every rock, looked in every nook and cranny, and couldn’t find anything for two years. Obama did not give you your job back, as much as you would like to think so.
“During President George W. Bush’s terms, which included a mild economic downturn in 2001, the unemployment rate actually averaged 5.53 percent, which compares very favorably with the average since Harry Truman’s second term in 1948 of 5.67 percent.”

Your symptomatic of what’s wrong with Dem voters. You think your fortunes in life are all tied to powers beyond your control and especially to what part is in power. That is incredibly shortsighted. Its hard to fathom someone being unemployed for 2 whole years just because a different party is in power. Its absurd in fact. George Bush doesn’t sit up there with levers or buttons that he pushes that automatically push black employment numbers up or down. The idea in and of itself is preposterous that you can’t get a job because Bush was president. Do you have any idea how ridiculous that sounds?
Are you going to sit there with a straight face and tell me that people from 3,000 miles away in Honduras who don’t even speak our language can travel 3,000 miles, get a job, make enough money to support themselves, and make enough money to support a family back in Honduras? And you can’t?

That lady who was crying in happiness because she said her mortgage was going to get paid
Really burns you up when—what was Contractor’s term?—those “type people” actually get motivated to exercise their right to vote, doesn’t it?

“….likes of Will *Puke* Smith and Keanu “cant act” Reeves. ”
A Keanu fan here, pointing out that just because he underacts or has a subtle acting style doesn’t mean he “cant-act”. http://whoaisnotme.net/anr/under.htm

I think that “Foxy Lady is #1 ” is actually #2, if you catch my meaning.
Never has there been a more virile, mean-spirited and ugly racist pig (whose posts Jay allows much more off the charts than ANYONE from the right, I might add, almost to the point of encouragement) … I suggest renaming this creature “Pig Lady #2″; all the right descriptions there, I think.

So I think most conservatives like me have had about enough of the Fox News tea-party paranoia and thinks its scaring people away. People have wised up to the fear spread around by the gun shops that Obama was taken over everything.
2 years later, he’s supported the military, put more money for road construction, and cut taxes. AND I still have my weapons (plus a little more ammo). Don’t know ’bout you, but everyone I’m talking to thinks this whole “Obama is like hitler thing” is a false alarm.
