In comments in the post below, a tongue-in-cheek “modest proposal” was offered to use microchips as a means to distinguish citizens and legal immigrants from those here illegally.
Illegal, after all, is illegal and real Americans shouldn’t be upset if they’re required to accept microchips as a way to keep our borders secure and our precious bodily fluids untainted. Besides, once implanted microchips are the law, only outlaws won’t be microchipped. What better way to tell “us” from “them?”
I even suggested that Nathan Deal, the GOP candidate for governor who backs an Arizona-style law for Georgia, might want to jump on board the microchip train. Sure, it might be unconstitutional, but if the federal government can’t protect our borders, such things have to be done, you know? With microchips, we’d just be enforcing something that’s already the law, and who could argue with that?
The only problem is, satire in modern America has become impossible.
Speaking at a Tama County Republican forum Monday, six candidates for the GOP nomination to face seven–term Democratic Rep. Leonard Boswell opposed amnesty for illegal aliens and called for tougher enforcement of border security.
“I think we should catch ’em, we should document ’em, make sure we know where they are and where they are going,” said Pat Bertroche, an Urbandale physician. “I actually support micro-chipping them. I can micro-chip my dog so I can find it. Why can’t I micro-chip an illegal?
“That’s not a popular thing to say, but it’s a lot cheaper than building a fence they can tunnel under,” Bertroche said.”
And is it just my imagination, or are physician/politicians more likely than most to be … out there, shall we say?

He knows just about as much about the chip in his dog as my car does. A micro-chip WON’T help you “find” your dog, it will only help you identify it IF it’s found by someone. Micro-chips are NOT tracking chips.

Well, if you think about it, this makes much more sense than microchipping legals. After all, our goal is to know where the illegals are, right?. I can support such a plan publicly. Of course, I think we could also develop a separate microchip for legals and install them for a fee in everyone so that we could also determine if an illegal is near a legal and then we could do all sorts of things with that information.

Notwithstanding the sounds-good lip service, a LARGE part of the American people are no longer much concerned about the US Constitution.
To wit, the faithful conned never uttered a peep, not to this day and not the first one, when King George II wiped his ___ with Section 9, Clause2 – The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it.
But more shockingly, this same turn a blind eye to the rule of law gang, didn’t even give King Barry I any accolades for continuing it!
(Cue up the absurd Lincoln “comparisons”.)
Nope, sorry. Such quaint notions are no longer relevant to these right wing judicial activists who see the US Constitution as a living, breathing document!

Once the offending mexican has become a citizen, given green card or temporary workers status the collar would then be de-activated only. Removal would occur ONLY when said mexican has become granted full US citizenship.

U.S. Supreme Court says Mojave Cross veterans’ memorial can stay
WASHINGTON — The U.S. Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that a cross-shaped veterans’ memorial currently covered up by a box in California’s Mojave Desert can stay right where it is. In a 5–4 decision, the court determined that an act of Congress transferring the land under the memorial to a veterans’ group was constitutional and additionally noted that “the Constitution does not oblige government to avoid any public acknowledgment of religion’s role in society.”

——————————————–
It is racial persecution. It is institutionalized discrimination. It is a direct and blatant attack on the Latino community. The bill signed into law this week by Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer is a major setback in the fight for equality and civil rights.
Your appearance, your clothes, your language, your location, your activities or anything that may trigger suspicion is now grounds for detention. So in response to this heinous bill, we decided to send the Arizona governor and the state legislature a challenge: Do I Look “Illegal”?
We have produced T-shirts to let the Arizona government know that we will not stand idle as they trump our basic civil rights. Your contribution of $15 will not only get you one of the T-Shirts but will also allow Brave New Foundation’s Cuéntame to produce a series of videos and actions that will expose the Arizona government for their attempt to institutionalize a Latino persecution.
GET THE T-SHIRT TODAY!
We have also launched a pledge to boycott the state of Arizona until this law is stricken down. Sign the petition today and tell Arizona that you boycott intolerance and persecution.
We are fed up and are ready to fight back! Are you with us?

Or perhaps having all mexicans, within the US, that have yet to obtain full citizenship be forced to adorn their scalps with a taco bell togo bag doo-rag. Any illegal mexican caught without proper scalp adornment would immediately have their head clean shaven, the taco bell logo tattooed permanently onto their scalp and given an addl taco bell togo bag doo-rag to wear.
2nd offense. The offender would face 3 weeks of dining at his/her local taco bell and consuming ONLY pintos & cheese and water for breakfast, lunch, dinner, midnight snack etc.

We had someone once that tried to do satire as a liberal, but it just wasn’t as funny – but who knows, you and others might like it, so give it a try. There was a poster once during the Democratic National Convention that did a time schedule and it had things like “11:00 a.m. “Flag Burning; 11:30-2:00 “Gay Marriages” that kind of thing and it was hilarious. I wish I’d have saved it.

Not even a week has passed since Gov. Jan Brewer signed into law tough measures targeting illegal immigrants, but Manrique and others who own businesses that cater primarily to Phoenix’s large Hispanic community say they are already feeling the effects.
“I think they’re afraid of being out on the streets knowing they’re going to get pulled over by the sheriff,” says Manrique, a Mexican-born U.S. citizen who has lived in Phoenix since the 1990s. “A lot of people told me they’re afraid to go out even though the law’s not fully passed.”

Interesting contradiction with liberals when it comes to the healthcare and immigration debates. Liberals have no problems with the federal govt. having control over our healthcare system and all of the consequences that entails, but when it comes to immigration/citizenship it’s “don’t tread on me.”
Never mind that one of the express roles of the federal govt. is national security and immigration (Article One, Section 8).

Off topic, but when was I ever one to stay on topic, I was thinking the other day about tougher banking regulations and thought how that would affect (effect?) businesses and individuals. We all say we want them, and we’ve all cried out that “banks need to start loaning money to the little guy, small business and families” but isn’t that kind of what got us in this mess to begin with? Say we go back to the day of tough loaning practices, that’s going to significantly reduce the amount of money that gets loaned out.
Anywho….just a random thought on this beautiful Wednesday afternoon, in between attempts to see my actual desk, and make some kind of attempt to clean it.

I’m with you, but it’s going to be a slap in the face to alot of folks who are shocked when they get told they can’t have a loan, and if the banks are consistent on who they say yes and no to.
For example, say a developer who has gone bankrupt three times in the past decade due to bad planning on building subdivisions vs. the family who bought too much house. Do you say no to both? Say the developer promises economic prosperity, new jobs, etc. Do you still say no? In my opinion, the answer is yes, but I don’t think some will see it that way, and is that good business?

So you are cheering that more businesses are suffering? It doesn’t say businesses owned by illegals, nor do you say illegal day laborers. So, you are just glad that the people are suffering altogether?
Nope. Not cheering at all. I’m merely pointing out the Law of Unintended Consequences. A state law intended to hurt illegal immigrants instead hurts legal immigrants who own businesses catering to some of those illegal immigrants. It goes to show what happens when political grandstanding rushes ahead, without due consideration of all the potential consequences. People who’ve worked for years to establish businesses are now about to have their businesses wiped out by an ill-considered law that doesn’t accomplish its purpose of driving out the illegals. Rather, the illegals go underground, refuse to come out to conduct normal shopping, and the people hurt most are those who worked to attain their U.S. citizenship. There’s no sign that any of the illegals will leave; they’ll merely become hard to spot. Meantime, the legal immigrants will go broke. Thus, the new law is perverse in its effect.
You misinterpret me horribly if you interpret my earlier remarks as a celebration of the misery being inflicted on these legitimate business owners. Meantime, I might point out, not a thing is being done about the shady companies that employ the illegal immigrants.

Hey blip, the Constitution is for Americans not Illegals. It’s not the Constitution of the world. We are suspose to protect our borders and of course our citizens.

If a foreign national (not a US citizen) sneaks across the river and climbs a wall to get in this country (not a Mexican, mind you), are they in this country illegally? It is a YES or NO answer….not hard unless you want to equivocate with lots of but’s and maybe’s. On Jay’s forum however, this question is really too hard for most. They either are illegal or they are not!

Yes Eddy, they are illegal and they are not immigrants. Immigrants come to this country to try to become Americans and contribute to the American way. These people come in use up our resources, send our money back to their country and then go back themselves. Mexicans that came to this country and became Americans through the proper process don’t even want them here.

See Plyler vs. Doe – 1982. Illegal aliens are entitled to protections under the constitution. You may not like it, but, it’s true.
Personally, I’d like to see things done far differently and both sides have had the chance. For all you Obama critics – the Republicans fell on thw swords when they had the chance in 2007. And the Democrats need to move now. Face it – there’s 12 million in here now. What are you going to do – put ‘em on buses? We need to strengthen the border and come up with a process to assilimate thesepeople.
Actually, if the immigration legislation from 1986 was enforced we wouldn’t have these problems. But, mfgrs and other Chamber of Commerce types didn’t want to stop the supply of cheap labor. If they can’t get jobs they’d LEAVE. Want to stop them – don’t hire them.
