A bit of the new to get your travelin’ feet a-movin’

I don’t often highlight new artists or music here, in large part because I don’t hang out in the clubs as much I did in the old days, so I don’t get to hear that music where it ought to be heard. But I happened to be at Smith’s Olde Bar a couple of weeks ago listening to bands, and the first two or three to hit the stage were pretty good. Then this guy named Tim Brantley, the headliner, comes on and all of a sudden I find myself gravitating toward the stage to watch, because he’s better than pretty good. He was pretty damn good, and the “damn” makes all the difference.

I don’t know much about him, but this is one of the songs he played that night, accompanied by a guy who played a kickin’, rockin’-out cello, if you can believe it. I’m not sure you can capture live music all that well on video, but see if you like it.

This one goes out to Grandpa.

Signed up for the Marines at age 16 right after Pearl Harbor (back then you only had to have your mama verify your age).

Deployed Guadalcanal at 17.

I was like “Which Airport — Ramstein?” He’s looking kinda good too!! Got that little tan thing working and those muscles……whew!! Now I remember why I fell for him in the first place……

He still doesn’t like the fact that I’ve moved out and live on my own now, but he does like my new place. We’re at the old house hanging with the family before he leaves, (next Wednesday), and it’s been really nice to have him back.

Unfortunately, our Commander in Chief mispronounced the word “corpsman” as “corpseman” while speaking at the National Prayer Breakfast in February. You would think a Harvard graduate would know better.

Don’t wish it away

Don’t look at it like it’s forever

Between you and me

I could honestly say

That things can only get better

And while I’m away

Dust out the demons inside

And it won’t be long

Before you and me run

To the place in our hearts

Where we hide

And I guess that’s why

They call it the blues

Time on my hands

Could be time spent with you

Laughing like children

Living like lovers

Rolling like thunder under the covers

And I guess that’s why

They call it the blues

Just stare into space

Picture my face in your hands

Live for each second

Without hesitation

And never forget I’m your man

Without me girl

Cry in the night if it helps

But more than ever I simply love you

More than I love life itself

Officials in Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed’s administration said Friday they are preparing legislation to dramatically reduce pension benefits for city employees to the level of benefits a decade ago. The move would save millions for the city but is expected to set off an alarm among city workers and their unions. -Constipation

I had to try to remember if Kasim Reed was the mayor of Cobb County for a moment but then I thought, if he was, the Constipation would have let out a Big Wail and retired to the fainting couch.

PHOENIX — Gov. Jan Brewer ignored criticism from President Barack Obama on Friday and signed into law a bill supporters said would take handcuffs off police in dealing with illegal immigration in Arizona, the nation’s busiest gateway for human and drug smuggling from Mexico.

With hundreds of protesters outside the state Capitol shouting that the bill would lead to civil rights abuses-Constipation

Um, like how does this affect Atlanta? just sayin….

BERLIN — Tired of spinning that steering wheel? Try this: German researchers have developed a new technology that lets drivers steer cars using only their eyes. -Constipation

Sicko abusers!
