The ‘dark secret’ behind John Boehner’s opposition to health bill is revealed

House Minority Leader John Boehner, the George Hamilton of American politics,  got more than a little upset at the notion that the health-insurance reform measure might become law.  Before its passage, he warned ominously that it would  “ruin our nation.” And with final approval just minutes away, he got downright emotional in comments on the House floor:

But do you know WHY it made Boehner so mad?

HELL NO YOU DON”T!!!!

Because you didn’t read THIS part of the  bill!!

I wasn’t finished downstairs. I was going to say that remembering the Gwinnett Paper ain’t nothing; I remember the Atlanta Times. What do I win, Don Pardo?

An on the woman and the 40 pound turnip, I think that sort of thing is why some local weekly papers are doing pretty well. News just like politics is largely local. I like to know who died this week, and who had a baby and who is getting married and who has the biggest tomato and all that kind of stuff. It sort of offsets some of the drudgery of which county official or county officials employee got caught stealing this month (which seems to be happening with alarming frequency all over North Georgia the last several months). The AJC doesn’t write about that anymore, though cause we don’t exist up here anymore. I remember “Covers Dixie Like The Dew”, too, and Jim Minter, Celestine Sibley, that Grizzard fellow and all those folks.

Sister Cinthia didn’t like it much when I said that the failure of the AJC was when it dropped “covering Dixie like the dew” (can’t use the D word, you know) and now only covered “a much shrunken readership like the doo-doo!” But, really, it is why I’ll take the Delta Democrat Times (about as liberal an editorial line as you can get) over the AJC any day of the week. That’s funny!!!! Too bad everyone here doesn’t have a sense of humor. People have been fussing for so long, I think it’s time for a laugh or two.

Have fun this evening. The lil one and I send y’all a belated Valentines full of love and cheer.

Hillbilly-

In my experience the click of the blade opening has a distinct psychological effect, giving a split second to get the f outta there!

Back when Granddaddy was training me and told me the Good Book says to “turn the other cheek” and I asked “and what happens when they slap it?” His answer, “well, Jodie, the Good Book is silent there. I prefer a .45!” :-)
