Chris Matthews: ‘I forgot he was black tonight.’

Ladies and gentlemen, Chris Matthews. Apparently this was his way of saying he liked it. I can sympathize with the risks of talking on national TV for a living, but …. that’s disturbing. Not said with bad intent, perhaps, but strange that he thought he had to go there with so much else to be said.

Also, the speech sucked. He can make his swipes at the Tea Party all he wants.

NRB, I just want to make it clear to folks exactly who you are and where you’re coming from. And nothing makes what McVeigh did “A-OK”

Here’s a partial list of his victims, from the nursery:

Baylee Almon, 1, Oklahoma City

Danielle Nicole Bell, 15 months, Oklahoma City

Zachary Taylor Chavez, 3, Oklahoma City

Anthony Christopher Cooper II, 2, Moore

Antonio Ansara Cooper Jr., 6 months, Midwest City

Aaron M. Coverdale, 5, Oklahoma City

Elijah S. Coverdale, 2, Oklahoma City

Jaci Rae Coyne, 14 months, Moore

Taylor Santoi Eaves, 8 months, Midwest City

Tevin D’Aundrae Garrett, 16 months, Midwest City

Kevin “Lee” Gottshall II, 6 months, Norman

Blake Ryan Kennedy, 1, Amber

Dominique Ravae (Johnson)-London, 2, Oklahoma City

Chase Dalton Smith, 3, Oklahoma City

Colton Wade Smith, 2, Oklahoma City

Sorry, no movie is going to make that “A-OK.” Nor will it lessen my disgust at those who think it is.

Randy Barnett Professor, Georgetown University Law Center :

In the history of the State of the Union has any President ever called out the Supreme Court by name, and egged on the Congress to jeer a Supreme Court decision, while the Justices were seated politely before him surrounded by hundreds Congressmen? To call upon the Congress to countermand (somehow) by statute a constitutional decision, indeed a decision applying the First Amendment? What can this possibly accomplish besides alienating Justice Kennedy who wrote the opinion being attacked. Contrary to what we heard during the last administration, the Court may certainly be the object of presidential criticism without posing any threat to its independence. But this was a truly shocking lack of decorum and disrespect towards the Supreme Court for which an apology is in order. A new tone indeed.

I have seen a pattern here: when the liberal blog writers (Cynthia and Jay) are disagreed with, they comment back with name calling and stupid, immature comments that have nothing to do with the topic at hand. BUT, on the conservative blogs, when the writers are disagreed with or the topic diverges into something else, the writer either comments back, without name calling, and usually tries to engage people with more questions or they tell the person in question to get back on topic. I see that the liberals are easily baited into fights, especially when people are disagreeing with them. Maybe some anger management classes would help, or in Cynthia’s case some racist comment management.

G’morning UnU. No problem with the words. The commentors here get old after a while. I could almost predict who will say what. Words mean nothing. Action talks, bullsh*t walks!!

There’s nothing more insulting to people who put their lives on the line than griping about what’s wrong and doing nothing to correct the wrong. That’s like complaining to the police about getting robbed, but then you buy a 60″ tv and put the thing in the front room right in the middle of the biggest window of the house.

I don’t see it as much as wisdom as it is just plain common sense.

Second, are those kids better off after Clinton melted their flesh off with napalm and maching gun fire?

Just pointing out the typical liberal hypocrisy, yet again. Just so you guys know where Jay (and other Democrats) are coming from with this I’ll spell it out for you:

Bush wiretaps foreign terrorists, and he’s Hitler incarnate.

Clinton murders 87 women and children at Waco with napalm and maching guns, and he’s the best president ever.

But I have to say that most times I’ve tuned in to a bit of Hardball and listened to his line of questioning, I tend to either a) become like the deranged sports fan screaming at the coach or b) cringe at something characteristically goofy that he’s said.

That would be true, USinUK, except that I’m not getting paid to write the blog entry, therefore, I’m not held to the same higher standards as the author. I can call it like it is, but the authors of these blogs are paid to write and maintain said blogs, as well as provide an outlet for other people to comment, not to be antagonized by a commenter and then fly off on a tangent with snippy remarks that don’t have a thing to do with the blog topic. The authors are supposed to set an example, which from reading the posts, they set the lowest examples becasue they are letting their commenters bait them. Cynthia is trying to control her blog, but she’s going about it the wrong way. Her idea is to ban anyone who doesn’t agree with her, which has made her blog entries quite boring in the past couple days, as well as lacking in comments.

Here and again, we benefit from Liberal clairivoyance. What evidence do you have, Jay, that those children were being sexually abused? Some illustrious representative of the justive department claimed they were? Are Democrats exempt from due process? This claim of abuse warrants a full scale military assualt (illegal in it’s own right) on civilians? See posse comitatus.

[[The President did a marvelous job. Americans loved it. Very bold.]]

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaulZq601F0&feature=related

A year in, he has a record. In many ways, it’s been ‘lay out something grand and punt to Congress.” I hope he’s learned that lesson. In other ways, it’s been ‘say something that sounds good, draw a line, then watch it disappear’ as in threatening to veto earmark-laden bills. I think lots of people now say ‘Words. They’re only words. Let’s watch the performance.’

[[I expect the tone of our :”loyal” opposition to be especially testy today]]

Maybe more like amused? For again, Pres Obama has adopted another of Sen McCain’s positions, one he summarily rejected during the campaign: a spending freeze.

It’s really something when one loses an election, then sees one’s policies adopted one by one –

So Dems buckle under a threat? Pathetic.

As I said, strikes me as more of being able to point to a scapegoat to divert attention from their own divisions, most of which have led to problems getting a bill like health care passed, regardless of the minority party ‘threats.’

Man, more posters on the right are exposing the depths of their extreme prejudices, irrational beliefs and absolute absence of decency….

A few weeks ago, a poster named Jake posted that a ‘good’ solution to fighting terrorism would be to ‘kill ALL Muslims…just to be sure.’ He was serious…seriously…

Now we have NRB2 and Hard Right Hook who conflate Timothy McVeigh’s intentional murdering of innocent people in OK City with Bill Clinton’s/Janet Reno’s actions in Waco.

FYI – Koresh killed the people at Waco, not Bill Clinton/Janet Reno. Timothy McVeigh killed the people in OK City…

One question, are you serious?

If you are…and I unfortunately believe you actually do irrationally conflate these events…you are truly sick people.

My favorite part of the controversy is black spokes people claiming they should be recognized as black. What about using descriptions of race in news reports to identify the criminals? If any media posted the following story: “The victim described her rapist as a 180 pound black male between the ages of 20 and 30″ the black spokes people would protest the description. Race is either important or it isn’t, not just in favorable terms.
