McCain draws primary opposition

from the Arizona Daily Star:

Former Arizona Congressman J.D. Hayworth says he is planning to run against John McCain for his U.S. Senate seat.

Hayworth, a Republican, told The Associated Press late Friday he stepped down as host of his radio program on KFYI-AM, a conservative radio talk show in Phoenix. Legally, he would not have been able to remain host of the program and be an active candidate.

“We will formally announce at a later time, but we’re moving forward to challenge John McCain,” he said. “I think we all respect John. I think his place in history is secure. But after close to a quarter-century in Washington, it’s time for him to come home.”

He said he wasn’t serious about running against McCain until a recent “outpouring of support” from Arizonans asking him to run changed his mind.

You don’t often see this, a primary challenge to a party’s most recent presidential nominee. I doubt it will come to much, but Hayworth is clearly hoping to ride the coattails of the Tea Party movement and its disdain for alleged “RINOs” such as McCain to victory in Arizona’s GOP primary. You never know, especially in this kind of political environment. Just ask Scott Brown.

I’m running off to the Gold Dome now for an ethics committee meeting. Please behave yourselves, now….

Well, I’m mad. I just read that this Obama is wriggling out of jury duty in Chicago on account of he’s the President. It’s downright Unpatriotic! We all got the right and the duty to drive downtown at the height of rush hour and find some high-priced place to park and then check in and get treated like a bunch of second-graders and get the roll called every couple hours to make sure we don’t sneak out and set around with about 299 other citizens and read magazines all day. And the only people that will ever get put on a jury are the people that are dumber than a bag of hammers and can say they never read or heard nothing about some guy that went around and kilt and raped about 20 people in the state. Yep, it’s the people that can say “Some guy raped and kilt 20 people in this state, and I never heard nothing about it” that will get picked.

Anyhow, I’m glad somebody’s standing up to old man McCain. He ain’t no Republican. He’s a Socialist! He wants to keep corporations from their right to buy a election fair and square, and I never heard him say we should starve out poor people so they can make it on their own and we can get rid of all this guvmint spending. Heck, it wouldn’t suprize me none if he run around in a pair of elephant-size orange shorts in his spare time, like Sister Dusty.

Why, I bet he don’t have a single tea bag hanging from his hat. Some Republican he is!

Although I understand why people are upset I just wonder what took them so long? Why did they have to wait for 8 years? The Tea Party people are real and they are pulling votes away from both sides. So what will that for the upcoming elections? If a Tea Party candidate runs will that hurt a Republican or Democrat, assuming that the TP’er is the 3rd choice?

At any rate, it is a good primer for those interested in learning Republican doublespeak, fake conservative non values and neo-con ebonics/psycho babble.

Workers rights?

Puhlease…

They hate workers! They want to do everything to ensure Americans cannot organize.

Market based this and market based that?

Double puhlease…

Darn, fingers are too slow. Should say “So what will that MEAN for the upcoming elections?”

I’m sure most conservatives on this blog feel that the rising tide of TP’ers will carry them into office. But is that person riding the crest a Republican, Libertarian, Other? And other than populist anger what is it that they really think they can do without totally throwing the ecomonics and legal systems into turmoil? Populist anger sounds real good but do they have the smarts to really govern? I know, I know, many of you will say Obama is in this boat now but I believe he has far more intelligence that 99.999% of the TP’ers out there.

RNC, depends on how good the T candidate is vs how badly the Rep candidate is scorned. Would be great to see the TPers kick a few Reps rear-ends to the curb and kick the Dem challengers butt.

Would the RNC step aside? There in lies the problem. The tps would just have to take out the RNC rep or even some of the DNC reps. Depends again on incumbent and platforms.

Would love to see it happen as RNC and DNC are both crooked as hell. Probably just a pipe-dream.

So Bookman is terribly interested in Republican candidates in Arizona. Yes, a Radio Host running against an experienced Senator and war hero. But, if the TV Host can make a good speech and talk about change, he might win.

We know how Americans can be about such folks, even if a candidate is totally inexperienced in running anything. McCain better line up some teleprompters and good speech writers ’cause that is what it takes nowadays. Support from a crooked governor helps. Also line up any little grandchildren available. I realized that if I wanted change in the world, I need to do it myself. Rather than hoping my government will help the poor and the elderly, I have devoted time and money thru my church to do the same.
