Per your 6:31
I’m not trying to single you out. What I’m questioning is that there are many here who bring up the point that Jay allows Christian bashing. Yet some of these same posters use terms like “raghead” and “towelhead” with no problem. I think it’s hard to play the victim when you’re handing out exactly what you complain is being done to you.
I’m not saying it’s you personally. I have never seen you use derrogatory names towards any religion. However, it can be perceived as guilt by proxy if you see people doing something to others that you despise being done to you, and not speak out about that injustice. At least that’s how I see it.
I try to call things as I see them. I try my best not to launch personal attacks here or bash any institution out of spite. I think it’s wrong, no matter who’s the basher or bashee.

President Obama’s Justice Department dropped a voter intimidation case against the New Black Panther Party, will try Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (KSM) and four of his terrorist associates in downtown Manhattan, and now the Justice Department has concluded that the Obama administration can lawfully pay the community group Acorn for services provided under contracts signed before Congress banned the government from providing money to the group.

I can respect that, and yes I know those actions are done from both sides. I can’t answer for other’s actions here, but you won’t see that from me. It’s not in my DNA to treat others like that. I don’t want anyone disrespecting me or anything I do or believe in, so I give others the same courtesy. If I’m treated in what I perceive is less than a cordial manner, I respond in kind.
I know I should not stoop down to anyone’s level that I perceive is lower than mine. Sometimes, though, I feel that people need to get a taste of what they dish out so they know it feels to be treated in the same manner.

josef:
I echo your sentiments regarding yesterday’s exchange. You and Doggone set off in the right direction. A respectful account of His story.
Where it left the rails, is when “others” began to assume they knew what we, Christians, pray for. In my congregation, it’s not money or self gratification. It’s for God’s guidance in our daily lives….that His sacrifice will be strengthened through our own. It’s for the comfort of His counsel in the event that His will doesn’t coincide with ours or that of others.
When Bruno came in to say that being awakened by the power of love (prayer) was what he called being horney was, well…..tasteless and uncalled for. Different strokes for different folks, I ’spose, but that’s what I call strokin’ your own.

josef, (in my best Wizard of Oz voice) “Child, you cut me to the quick! I’m an old Kansas man myself, born and bred – in the heart of the western wilderness…”!
And your impertinence will NOT avail you from the aforementioned beating! But as you one of the good guys here, perhaps I’ll just use a wet noodle instead…

For my pending trip to La La Land next week…

Valid point. I think that’s the cause of most of the friction. There is a difference in bashing the message vs bashing the person. I’ve seen varied cases of both, and I believe that some of the conflict here comes from the inability to discern between the two.

I don’t understand the thought process behind the cut-n-paste thing. When I choose to express my opinion, I want it to be my words and not someone elses. That’s just me, and I can’t speak for others here. To use cnp’s as evidence or facts for coming to an opinion is a valid use, but to just use someone else words as your opinion is pretty close to plagarism in my book.

ABM–
I started last p.m. to defend @@ and was told, quite respectfully I might add–to back off, she’d do it herself! Well, she was there to do it, so I bowed out.
I never cease to be amazed at some of what I read here. You’ll get a Christian (or faith in general) bashers starting off with what might be a legitimate criticism of dogamatic/doctrinaire perspective and then take off on a tyrade worthy of any fire and brimstone fundamentalist revivalist, every bit as dogmatic/doctrinaire as they come…
The other day they took off on the Fox-Sesame Street bru-ha and, quite frankly, I joined in. Well, now comes the rather heartening Sesame Street-O’Reilly kiss and make-up and nary a peep…

Call me crazy(…and you’d be right), but I have had this musical and this song especially, running through my “Normal” brain all weekend.
…SOOO, I thought I’d get out of my brain and into yours. It’s thoroughly modern…
