I hope everyone has a great day, surrounded by friends, family and bountiful food.
November 27th, 20098:43 pm
okay, what do we get for 601?
I must admit….I do enjoy watching you struggle to defend your indefensible claims against me.
You went to a lot of trouble, just failed to meet the assignment is all.
Your lazy that way.
November 27th, 20098:44 pm
BINGO! Nothing, nice topic!
@ 8:39 –
You got that from London Calling? Elaborate…..please, I’m all agog!
November 27th, 20098:46 pm
“Hey Doggone! What ‘cha wanna talk about?”
Well, I’m not as into music as ya’all are. At the moment, I’m listening to a show about the Grand Canyon Skywalk…very interesting!
Angry Black Man
November 27th, 20098:47 pm
Per your 6:31
I’m not trying to single you out. What I’m questioning is that there are many here who bring up the point that Jay allows Christian bashing. Yet some of these same posters use terms like “raghead” and “towelhead” with no problem. I think it’s hard to play the victim when you’re handing out exactly what you complain is being done to you.
I’m not saying it’s you personally. I have never seen you use derrogatory names towards any religion. However, it can be perceived as guilt by proxy if you see people doing something to others that you despise being done to you, and not speak out about that injustice. At least that’s how I see it.
I try to call things as I see them. I try my best not to launch personal attacks here or bash any institution out of spite. I think it’s wrong, no matter who’s the basher or bashee.
November 27th, 20098:49 pm
Repetition is mental mucillage ……… it sticks.
November 27th, 20098:50 pm
Excuse me …………. “mucilage”
November 27th, 20098:51 pm
Good God, you’re more annoying than my cat –
I demonstrated your boxed in thinking, in my opinion based on YOUR OWN WORDS, I never challenged your theological thinking box, and that’s it. Now, to keep on, is going to be on your own time. I’m done with your really pathetic attempts.
I left it up to the readers to decide for themselves. Watching your own schadenfreude does not amuse me.
November 27th, 20098:53 pm
“Repetition is mental mucillage ……… it sticks.”
Nope. Do it too often and all it does is numb the audience to the message, especially if your message is not one they subscribe to. Here’s something that, too, has been repeated here often: God is the greatest abortionist
November 27th, 20098:55 pm
I still think @@ is pretty cool.
November 27th, 20098:57 pm
Bad music from the 80s? I vote
Now wait a minute on Big Country–posted that to Bruno earlier….
London Calling to that?
Clash album Sandinista…came out at that time…
Let’s see –
President Obama’s Justice Department dropped a voter intimidation case against the New Black Panther Party, will try Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (KSM) and four of his terrorist associates in downtown Manhattan, and now the Justice Department has concluded that the Obama administration can lawfully pay the community group Acorn for services provided under contracts signed before Congress banned the government from providing money to the group.
YUP, CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN !!!!!
November 27th, 20098:58 pm
I was checking out that show too. Almost makes me want to go out there to visit the site.
And I see the same thing coming from the other side. I’ll lead by example. If someone chooses not to follow, it’s no skin off “this fundie’s” nose.
I may agree with that person on other topics up for discussion. I’m not one to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
November 27th, 20099:01 pm
Change at 8:57 — you’re spot on…
Mm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said that all must lend a hand

November 27th, 20099:02 pm
Okay, time to come to Jay’s defense (even if I am still PO’d at his monitor)–I have NEVER known Jay to engage in Christian bashing…quite the opposite–I can’t say the same for his bloggers, but I have found Jay to be. if anything, solicitous of opinions on theological issues and possessed of some depth in his own estimations…
ABM–and, once again, Amen!
November 27th, 20099:03 pm
Well damn. I missed that album. See, you learn something new everyday. And here I was thinking I knew everything.
I left it up to the readers to decide for themselves
This reader was pretty sure Bosch had gotten his rear end kicked and the 8:10 sealed it. When you get them calling you names, especially vulgar names, you know they’re spent.
November 27th, 20099:04 pm
“Almost makes me want to go out there to visit the site.”
Me too…but I’m not sure I could actually walk out on it!
November 27th, 20099:05 pm
I can respect that, and yes I know those actions are done from both sides. I can’t answer for other’s actions here, but you won’t see that from me. It’s not in my DNA to treat others like that. I don’t want anyone disrespecting me or anything I do or believe in, so I give others the same courtesy. If I’m treated in what I perceive is less than a cordial manner, I respond in kind.
I know I should not stoop down to anyone’s level that I perceive is lower than mine. Sometimes, though, I feel that people need to get a taste of what they dish out so they know it feels to be treated in the same manner.
November 27th, 20099:06 pm
You know that she loves it. She has nothing.
November 27th, 20099:08 pm
I’ll repeat….all you’ve done is indicate that I have a political opinion on a political blog. You, yourself, have said it’s allowed. Based on your own argument, any political opinion you may have is boxed in thinking.
You’ve now gift wrapped yourself for future delivery by UPS (Ur Posts Suck).
BOSCH, K’CHAK and fellow winos…
Got a bottle of Yellowtail Shiraz working…nice!
I’ll do it if you do!! hehehe
There’s something about the height of that cliff that would cause me to need Depends.
November 27th, 20099:09 pm
Sorry about the Big Country—but it’s so annoying.
I hesitate to post this because much of their work was extremely empathic and speaks to almost all human emotion. I just find it annoying also.
November 27th, 20099:10 pm
And your thinking is boxed. As demonstrated by your own words. Deal.
November 27th, 20099:11 pm
I know there’s people who get their climaxes by poking fun at Obama. However, can you please post something original. I believe that was copied and pasted from an earlier page on this same thread. If you can’t come up with something original, please give it a little time before you recycle it, please…
November 27th, 20099:12 pm
As we folks from Mississippi say:
It’s worth going out of your way for…I THINK, and I may be wrong, it was their first…it was my introduction to them anyway
November 27th, 20099:15 pm
Until you start your pathetic whining, it is.
You’ve always been such a girl…
November 27th, 20099:16 pm
Pops Staple was one bad mutha……
But in reailty, if you don’t respect yourself, how can you show others respect?
November 27th, 20099:17 pm
“I feel that people need to get a taste of what they dish out so they know it feels to be treated in the same manner.”
Funny thing is, they seldom “get it” – they just come back later and accuse you of abusing them, or words to that effect.
November 27th, 20099:20 pm
“There’s something about the height of that cliff…”
Yep! I can look over an edge all day, if there’s a railing..but I can’t walk up to an unprotected edge and look over. I’m thinking I have the same problem with glass under my feet…it would be too much like walking up to an unprotected edge.
I hike the Rim Trail at Cloudland Canyon once, and spent the whole hike hugging the edge away from the rim as tightly as I could. Please note the “once” – it’s one trail I have NO desire to do again!
November 27th, 20099:21 pm
Boy won me over with this one…great song, great film…
S’okay on Big Country–the video (not the one I posted but the popular one) was cr*p and I never could figure out what it had to do with the song…I confess a weakness for that Irish “lilt…”
November 27th, 20099:24 pm
Staple Singers are one of my favorite all time groups…got to see ‘em a lot back home…never forgot where they came from…i like that…
November 27th, 20099:26 pm
You’d really hate those viewing platforms they installed in the Sears Tower then. They’re clear plexiglas or lexan enclosures that let you step outside the building up on the 103rd floor. You can look under your feet and see the ground below. Check out these pics.
November 27th, 20099:27 pm
“You’ve always been such a girl…”
OH, and always leave it to @@ for the best juvenile comeback of them all!!!!!!
YOU’RE SUCH A …………….GIRL!!!
November 27th, 20099:28 pm
I never got to see them perform live, but I’ve done my fair share of listening. That’s some of that good ole’ down home soul.
November 27th, 20099:29 pm
“You can look under your feet and see the ground below. Check out these pics”
I saw a show about those too! I find the technology interesting, but still can’t see myself ever going out on them. The ads for the series “Planet Earth” has a shot where they pointed the camera straight down from a plane, then flew over the edge of a really tall waterfall. I can’t watch it, it makes me queasy just thinking about it!
November 27th, 20099:30 pm
I have a riff to pick you with about the Big Country thing. I liked/like that song.
November 27th, 20099:32 pm
I caught myself holding my breath once or twice when they kept running the camera over the cliff when they were talking about the construction of the skywalk. I guess that’s something we have in common.
November 27th, 20099:36 pm
I confess a weakness for that Irish “lilt…”
Uh josef,Big Country was a band from Dunfermline, Scotland
My favorite CC song
November 27th, 20099:37 pm
?? It’s one of my faves…
So………how do we all feel about the Rolling Stones during the 80s? Tattoo You. Good? Bad? Discuss.
I thought – “ehh, it has it’s good dance moments.” But this is the best of the Stones:
November 27th, 20099:38 pm
“I caught myself holding my breath once or twice when they kept running the camera over the cliff”
That’s one reason I was listening to it, and not watching it. I’ve seen it a couple times before and I find that sometimes I hear things I missed the first time, if I listen the next time but don’t watch.
November 27th, 20099:39 pm
Oh, sorry – read the post wrong.
November 27th, 20099:41 pm
Good approach to watching something interesting. I’ll have to give it a try sometime.
Time to go close the eyes and wait for the alarm to go off. Good evening to all. See y’all in the am depending on how busy we get.
November 27th, 20099:43 pm
K’chak–did not know they were Scots…thanks for the information…I guess I should have just said Celtic…my bad….
I like your CC favorite, too…
November 27th, 20099:45 pm
ABM – have a nice sleep. I’m headed that way myself shortly. Going hiking tomorrow!
November 27th, 20099:48 pm
“Nope. Do it too often and all it does is numb the audience to the message, especially if your message is not one they subscribe to. Here’s something that, too, has been repeated here often: God is the greatest abortionist”
1) It took a lot of “repetition” to rid us of slavery.
2) Yes God is ………. but then that’s His decision unless you are putting yourself on equal terms.
November 27th, 20099:50 pm
I’m off to read my new book – pleasant Friday evening all!
November 27th, 20099:55 pm
“Yes God is ………. but then that’s His decision unless you are putting yourself on equal terms”
and how do YOU know that it isn’t God’s decision that a woman decide to end her pregnancy? No, I’m not putting myself on equal terms with God…but remember what I said about ALWAYS questioning those who profess to speak for God?
November 27th, 20099:57 pm
Getting time to turn in around here, too…had a good time today and got this office straightened out, too!
November 27th, 200910:00 pm
Enough of the bad 80’s songs.
This is a gem from the 80’s
November 27th, 200910:01 pm
1) That’s is a totally absurd position to suggest that every woman who ends her pregnancy is in God’s will. I know it’s not the baby’s decision. That’s what really matters.
2) And I don’t speak for God …… nor do you. His “Word” speaks for itself.
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
November 27th, 200910:02 pm
goodnight, Jim Bob
goodnight, Mary Ellen
goodnight, John Boy
November 27th, 200910:04 pm
“That’s is a totally absurd position to suggest that every woman who ends her pregnancy is in God’s will.”
Except that I didn’t say that. I said you DON’T KNOW if it’s God’s will or not.
Got it. EVERY conception is a prophet for God. God’s got some ODD prophets, I must say.
November 27th, 200910:13 pm
Sorry, gotta throw in these 2 bad 80’s songs after reading through Bosch’s exchange with @@.
kinda reminded me of Bosch:
he can dance:
November 27th, 200910:15 pm
and this is an 80’s blast from the past:

November 27th, 2009
I think Toe-Tappin-Andy is on to something with the cut-n-paste debate technique, I think I’ll have to do more.
OK, so I’m kinda wondering exactly what is so bad about “toe tappin.”
Would you like to explain it to us, Lord Help Us?
A parting call to one of the greatest and most whacked out cities in the world, may the liberals leave and find some other place to squat-
November 28th, 20097:05 am
A Housing and Urban Development Department lawyer asked the Justice Department whether the new law meant that pre-existing contracts with Acorn should be broken. And in a memorandum signed Oct. 23 and posted online this week, Mr. Barron said the government should continue to make payments to Acorn as required by such contracts.
“Contracts” for what?
November 28th, 20097:19 am
“OK, so I’m kinda wondering exactly what is so bad about “toe tappin.””
That is EXACTLY my point, I say live and let live…
November 28th, 20097:28 am
Well, it is kind of a public nuisance.
November 28th, 20097:54 am
I’m with Andy, we should stop paying ACORN immediately. I don’t even know what ACORN is, except a strawman for nut sacks…
November 28th, 20098:11 am
MR PRESIDENT, BRING OUR TROOPS HOME NOW!
November 28th, 20098:15 am
Good morning all. It’s Saturday and it’s time to attack the leaves again. Josef would say I’m doing G-ds work, but If I was really doing G-ds work, I’d be gluing them back on the trees.
I hope y’all are completly recovered from Thanksgiving fun. See ya later…
November 28th, 20098:34 am
BTW…My feelings for today…
Redneck Convert (R--and proud of it)
November 28th, 20098:43 am
Well, I’m not suprized to see everybody bashing @@. It was bound to happen. She’s been striking out at Bookman and just about everybody else on this blog, kind of like a snake shedding its skin and half blind. What goes around comes around.
Anyhow, it’s nippy out there but not half bad and I ain’t going to waste a Saturday on this blog. Have a good weekend everybody. And Go Dawgs. So I won’t have to clean up another pile of UGA car flags on the road leading to the trailer park.
November 28th, 20098:57 am
I kinda thought @@ was going away for good. I seem to remember her saying something to that effect after she came on the blog and told us how all her black neighbors hated American soldiers, and after she praised and supported David Koresh and the branch davidian child molestors…
Oh wait, why would I expect a “conservative” to actually do what they say they’re gonna do???
November 28th, 20099:22 am
November 28th, 2009
That’s not nice!!!
November 28th, 20099:50 am
Ok, I apologize…
I should’ve said:
Oh wait, why would I expect a Republican to actually do what they say they’re gonna do???
I didn’t mean to insult real conservatives, not that there’s ever any here to actually see it.
November 28th, 20099:55 am
She’s been striking out at Bookman and just about everybody else on this blog, kind of like a snake shedding its skin and half blind.
I guess you’ve become so accustomed the the polecats, ferreting out conservatives, that you can’t smell ‘em anymore?
All my neighbors aren’t black. What would make you assume such a thing? My neighbor to the left is a white democrat. He was out there for Sgt. Beale’s funeral procession. My conservative black neighbor was out there, too.
The fact that my continued presence here bothers you is all the more reason to stay.
I had to come to terms with the reality, that maintaining a positive outlook on life in spite of liberal/progressive/democrats’ attacks here, was a burden I could gladly bear.
November 28th, 200910:15 am
Change Republican to Politician and I’ll agree with you.
November 28th, 200910:17 am
Amen Normal @ 10:15
November 28th, 200910:22 am
November 28th, 200910:24 am
It’s been one BUSY day here. Just now getting a chance to take a break and eat. Nothing worse than a hungry, grumpy brother that’s armed.
Good morning (I think)
Y’all can bash @@ all you want to and I may not always agree with her myself, but have said it before and will keep saying it: this is one liberal who remembers who stood up for me when I wasn’t around to do it on snicker-snicker day and I remember who participated with glee therein…
November 28th, 200910:27 am
Hey Doggone and ABM–enjoyed the exchange with y’all yesterday…
Normal–you turned tail and ran!
November 28th, 200910:30 am
“Nothing worse than a hungry, grumpy brother that’s armed”
I can think of one other, as I saw on a T-shirt: I have PMS and a gun. Any Questions?
November 28th, 200910:31 am
Josef…me too, and good ‘mornin’ to you too! I’m just about to set out on my hiking trip. Too pretty a day to sit inside, like I did yesterday!
November 28th, 200910:34 am
November 28th, 200910:36 am
Well, well, well.
Last night here was sure a bust by Friday night’s “special” standards, wasn’t it?
Endlessly feeding trolls about their mythology and deities and playing the WORST music of a decade, notorious for some of the lousiest music ever made, is neither interesting nor becoming, is it peeps?
And those guilty, will be beaten with wet sheet music.
The title says it all…
Off for another date with that damn leaf blower. (As Shatner noted in Has Been, is there anything more futile?)
November 28th, 200910:38 am
I wholeheartedly agree with you on @@. I can’t wait until we all grow up and bash the argument and opinions but not the person delivering them.
November 28th, 200910:42 am
In your opinion… since i participated in both, you can kiss my happy holiday tuchus!
K’chak–one of my favorite Christmas pieces…
November 28th, 200910:43 am
“but not the person delivering them”
It would be difficult to disagree with this…but I also can’t wait until some people grow up and realize that bashing their arguments and opinions is NOT bashing the person.
You have it all wrong, absolutely nothing that goes on here “bothers” me, except the holier than thou attitudes of those who feel they’re brand of dogma is the correct brand and trumps all others… and cut-n-paste politics, and “debates” where those engaged absolutely refuse to consider the viewpoint of those they are “debating” (that’s red-faced screaming, not debate), and “christians” who drop f bombs and call others POS… so I guess some things here do bother me… but I’m certainly not bothered by any individual here, I open my arms and embrace all those who will do the same of me, and I won’t ask anybody to pass a political litmus test to be my friend.
November 28th, 200910:45 am
Normal–you turned tail and ran!
I just retreated to fight another day…
November 28th, 200910:48 am
I can’t change it to that, that would be a reduntant statement, plus I was speaking of the followers of those politicians, not the politicians themselves.
Shouldn’t it be “we’re not retreating, we’re just advancing in a different direction”???
November 28th, 200910:51 am
80’s holiday music.
November 28th, 200910:52 am
I echo your sentiments regarding yesterday’s exchange. You and Doggone set off in the right direction. A respectful account of His story.
Where it left the rails, is when “others” began to assume they knew what we, Christians, pray for. In my congregation, it’s not money or self gratification. It’s for God’s guidance in our daily lives….that His sacrifice will be strengthened through our own. It’s for the comfort of His counsel in the event that His will doesn’t coincide with ours or that of others.
When Bruno came in to say that being awakened by the power of love (prayer) was what he called being horney was, well…..tasteless and uncalled for. Different strokes for different folks, I ’spose, but that’s what I call strokin’ your own.
josef, (in my best Wizard of Oz voice) “Child, you cut me to the quick! I’m an old Kansas man myself, born and bred – in the heart of the western wilderness…”!
And your impertinence will NOT avail you from the aforementioned beating! But as you one of the good guys here, perhaps I’ll just use a wet noodle instead…
For my pending trip to La La Land next week…
I’d like to shake the hand of whoever here wrote that they love the trees, just not the leaves…
November 28th, 200910:54 am
Valid point. I think that’s the cause of most of the friction. There is a difference in bashing the message vs bashing the person. I’ve seen varied cases of both, and I believe that some of the conflict here comes from the inability to discern between the two.
I don’t understand the thought process behind the cut-n-paste thing. When I choose to express my opinion, I want it to be my words and not someone elses. That’s just me, and I can’t speak for others here. To use cnp’s as evidence or facts for coming to an opinion is a valid use, but to just use someone else words as your opinion is pretty close to plagarism in my book.
I started last p.m. to defend @@ and was told, quite respectfully I might add–to back off, she’d do it herself! Well, she was there to do it, so I bowed out.
I never cease to be amazed at some of what I read here. You’ll get a Christian (or faith in general) bashers starting off with what might be a legitimate criticism of dogamatic/doctrinaire perspective and then take off on a tyrade worthy of any fire and brimstone fundamentalist revivalist, every bit as dogmatic/doctrinaire as they come…
The other day they took off on the Fox-Sesame Street bru-ha and, quite frankly, I joined in. Well, now comes the rather heartening Sesame Street-O’Reilly kiss and make-up and nary a peep…
November 28th, 200910:59 am
Call me crazy(…and you’d be right), but I have had this musical and this song especially, running through my “Normal” brain all weekend.
…SOOO, I thought I’d get out of my brain and into yours. It’s thoroughly modern…
Fox & Sesame Street??!!
What did I miss there?
