The end-of-the-world saga “2012″ was Hollywood’s biggest moneymaker of the week, drawing $65 million in U.S. ticket sales and $225 million worldwide. Apparently, there’s a real market out there for inflated, exaggerated, over-the-top fear-mongering. Those of us who pay more attention to politics than to movie-making never would have guessed that.
Right, Glenn Beck?
The good news is, we’ve got real-life rocket scientists to calm people down.

I wonder if this guy could do a “birther” video next.

It’s a bit painful, watching this guy holding himself back from adding all the “you frigging idiots” and “get a damn life” and “really, were you home-schooled by a yard dog?” asides he surely must be thinking as he attempts to dumb it down for his audience.

There is a market for it indeed. Republicans just suck that stuff up, like a black hole. Now watch NIF and Faux JC call that a racist comment. I just loves me more displays of their ignorance.

Well, the same people that make fun of the ones that say 2012 will be a big year are the same ones that make fun of the Rapture. My advise is you stop paying your mortgage in October 2011. No use wasting a bunch of money.

getalife,
I think they’re called “flat earthers” but I can see the need to try and reduce the word count and preferably the syllable count down to one. After all, we’re dealing with the GOP ‘minds’.

Golly, I thought it was just a movie, made for entertainment, kind of a crash and bang extravaganza on the order of the other blockbuster films. I planned to see it for that reason–because I get a kick out of being entertained. Now, what was it about some message being conveyed in it??? Give me a break. And to use this to then analogize this to conservatives trying to induce reason into this society as being related–well, that is just idiotic.

Would you like to offer a different point of view, or are you just wanting to do as you are told? There is nothing ignorant about the hard core truth.
If you could just offer any example of why I am wrong, it would be different, but just saying that I am ignorant just proves that you have nothing to say.
The brilliant response I got from db was fyt. I don’t even know what that means, but I’m pretty sure that he doesn’t want to address the problem either.

We are all tired of fear mongering.
-Our entire economy will collapse into a full blown depression if you don’t sign the stimulus package this week.
-Health care reform must be implemented to prevent our economy from spiraling out of control.
-The world will burst into flames soon if we don’t pass a cap-and-trade bill. Correction, the world will experience climate change if we don’t.
-From Pelosi. Health care is in crisis, while insurance companies make obscene and immoral profits. [ave. profit margin of 2.2%
Life has become an emergency under the Democrats.

“Aid workers and experts say President Barack Obama’s decision to allow aid money to flow again to international groups that offer abortion counseling will help restart programs desperately needed in Africa, the continent hardest hit by a so-called “gag rule.”

You wingnuts really should stop listening to Rush and stop watching Fox. The insurance companies have a profit margin of 30%.
Notice when you drive through large cities, the big shiny skyscrapers have insurance company names on them. Those signs aren’t given away.

On cap-and-trade fearmongering.
Today two more of EPA’s top scientist have come out and stated they have been threatened with termination because of a personal website which says global warming science is faulty, and cap-and-trade is a total fraud. They have been under the gag order about publishing their thoughts through work, but now they feel threatening their jobs over a private website has gone too far.
This entire “crisis” has been set into motion by research funded by the government with the full understanding that continued funding depended on getting the right answers. If you guys play “Nice” you’ll keep getting a paycheck.
Oh, and by the way, those of you who play nice will get a nice raise. Then we can count you as a job saved under the stimulus program. It’s a win/win.
