Morning all. Happy Veterans Day.

Salutes to Normal and Jackie. And any others here who served.

My favorite definition:

A veteran -- whether active duty, retired, national guard, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for the amount of "up to and including my life."

That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.

Normal, it would seem a certain paranoid, delusional someone is off his meds BIG time.

sfd

I had an uncle that was on Iwo Jima and saw more death than he could ever comprehend. He died when I was very young, and I've heard stories about him seeing little green men all over the place. I found out he was having visions of all the dead GI's and Marines.

I distrust written history completely. You have to talk to someone who was there to actually know what happened.

Just a few things about this thread that need to be cleaned up and or clarified:

Jay, the lawsuit and subsequent actions against those who voted for the House health care reform bill will come only after (and if) it is approved in the Senate. The first person who is forced to buy health care coverage when they do not want to will be come the first of a major lawsuit against the federal government. That suit will, I believe, be successful and will require either the whole bill or the portion that requires coverage to be thrown out as being un-Constitutional. However, that sit cannot be filed until and unless a similar provision is passed in the Senate, not before. Harm must first occur. Once this does occur, then folks in each state can go after their elected officials for violating their oath of office.

Next, Dede Scozzafava in NY-23 DID have support from Republicans. The local party provided support, the national Chairman endorsed her, Newt Gingrich endorsed her as well as others in the U.S. House leadership. That she didn't have unanimous support was her problem, and frankly, very few people get that anyway. For her to turn around and support the Democrat because she didn't have everyone on board her campaign showed she really was nothing more than a liberal exposed for what she as. He claims of lack of support were and remain bogus.

The VA governor-elect DID run on conservative issues, not moderate ones. But he stuck to economic issues, not social ones. Saw an interview with him and he is still very much a social conservative, but he is not going to use the power of government to forward those views because he is a small government conservative first. But to say that he ran as a moderate is simply wrong.

Thanks to all the veterans out there today, even those of you have degenerated into those who would destroy what you originally tried to preserve.

Well, he may have been a rotten apple, but he was still an apple.

Leavenworth is full of cowards.

Yeah, it's been a busy couple of days. I do find that by scanning here, though, I can find references to what's being said everywhere from mainstream to margins. It's a good overview and starting point.

Dr Phares raises a disturbing point - raises for the general populace, maybe, but one that's been raised, I'm sure, in the groups that study this stuff for a living. It's the lone wolf jihadist. Marginal contact with the main players, but the process of indoctrination and radicalization on a personal level. And yes - I did check - Dr Phares wrote about this likely outcome several years ago, while everyone else was focused on AQ as the be-all and end-all.

It's not for nothing that General George Casey warned against an anti-Muslim backlash in the wake of the Fort Hood massacre. But a whole slew of childlike nimrods, spurred to action by Casey vowing that it would be "a shame if our diversity became a casualty," have taken the stage to decry such concerns as "political correctness." Michelle Malkin complained that this was worshiping "the false god of diversity." Pat Robertson demanded that Muslims be treated as "members of some fascist group." So much good sense, being made! And so, naturally, the backlash Casey warned of has now expanded to include Greek Orthodox priests.

By the way, did I mention that Pat Robertson is a Talibaptist.
