Top contender for Ga. governor wants to see proof of Obama birth
Nathan Deal, the U.S. congressman from Gainesville and one of the leading GOP candidates for governor, wants to see Barack Obama’s birth certificate. (H/T Political Insider.)
In an online chat this morning, Tom Crawford of Capitol Impact, one of the most respected reporters at the state Capitol, asked Deal whether he believes Obama is legally eligible to serve as president. Deal replied:
“I am joining several of my colleagues in the House in writing a letter to the President asking that he release a copy of his birth certificate so we can have an answer to this question.”
Back in July, Deal was asked a similar question by Mike Stark of the liberal Firedoglake blog. The exchange outside the U.S. Capitol was caught on a Youtube video. (Deal is at :45 and at 1:20 on the video.)
In the video, Deal is asked whether opponents need some basis in fact or reality to suggest Obama is not a legitimate president. Deal responds:
“You know, the best way to do that, I think, is to produce the birth certificate and let that be the end of it. I don`t think that`s been done yet.
In today’s online chat, Deal also enlisted in the 10th Amendment movement, promising that if elected governor he would “reassert the role of states rights” and “reclaim the rights that are reserved to our state” under the U.S. Constitution.

Just remember the released “Certification of Live Birth” (short – form) is NOT the same document as the unreleased “Birth Certificate” (long – form).
Specifically, I would like to see what is listed on the “Birth Certificate” for the “Hospital of Record”, “Attending Physician” and MOST IMPORTANTLY what if anything is in block #23 “Reason for Alteration or Delay” (Note: this block would have an entry “if” one was born outside of Hawaii but was claiming citizenship under the law at that time).

Here’s the bottom line. Is Obama a U.S. citizen even “if” he was born in Kenya? Yes …. or at least the Supreme Court would rule that way. So why all the fuss?
Very simple ………. “if” he was born in Kenya it would have cost him votes in a very close election. Why? Some people just wouldn’t have voted for a candidate who was born in Kenya (U.S. Citizen or not). Is it right or wrong to base one’s vote on that? I’m not judging but the American people deserved to know that then and they deserve to know for 2012.
That said, based on some current news accounts this week, the “real” reason the original birth certificate was never released more likely has something to do with his father and the “legitimacy” of his parents “marriage” than where he was physcially born.

Mr. Deal before you insist on the 10th Amendment, lets insist on the 9th Amendment:
“The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.”
If it is OK with you Mr. Dean, I would like to first make sure our individual rights are looked after and protected. After that is done, then we can take a look at the rights of the States. After all, the State is just another government that, at least in Georgia, is intruding on our individual rights.

Well, I wouldn’t mind looking at that tape–but just to learn more about the issues, you understand. I think porn is just sinful, but people got to know what they’re talking about. But $10,000 is a little steep. Heck, you can get in to the peep show at the fair for five bucks.
Anyhow, I got a e-mail from old Nathan the other day. I don’t know how he got my address and the e-mail didn’t say nothing but give his web address. Bosch–this question came up when Romney Senior was running in the primaries in the 1960s. He was born in Mexico to US citizens resident there. Though the matter started through the system, it was dropped when he withdrew and never “resolved.”
