Such a sweet photo of two cute politicians

kiss

Marco Rubio, a fully credentialed “true conservative,” is running for the GOP Senate nomination in Florida against Gov. Charlie Crist, the more moderate candidate endorsed by the Republican establishment. Until yesterday, conservatives envisioned Rubio playing the same role in Florida that Doug Hoffman played in New York’s 23rd congressional district, a script they’re going to have to rewrite a bit.

The screengrab above is the front page of Rubio’s Internet fundraising site. Any suggestion that the picture was selected as a sly reference to rumors regarding Crist’s sexual orientation are surely false.

The campaign of McDonnell in Virginia would suggest Crist would be the better candidate. Unless Rubio is capable of running to the center as McDonnell did. Some can, some cannot.

A special moment caught between Obobo and Crist…Obobo picks up the microphone and lets it all hang out…

I’m sleeping
And right in the middle of a good dream
Like all at once I wake up
From something that keeps knockin’ at my brain.
Before I go insane I hold my pillow to my head
And spring up in my bed
Screaming out the words I dread:
“I think I love you!”

This morning
I woke up with this feeling
I didn’t know how to deal with
And so I just decided to myself
I’d hide it to myself and never talk about it
And didn’t I go and shout it
When you walked into my room.
“I think I love you!”

I think I love you.
So what am I so afraid of?
I’m afraid that I’m not sure of
A love there is no cure for.

I think I love you.
Isn’t that what life is made of?
Though it worries me to say
I’ve never felt this way.

I don’t know what I’m up against.
I don’t know what it’s all about.
I got so much to think about.

Hey, I think I love you.
So what am I so afraid of?
I’m afraid that I’m not sure of
A love there is no cure for.

I think I love you.
Isn’t that what life is made of?
Though it worries me to say
I’ve never felt this way.

Believe me,
You really don’t have to worry.
I only want to make you happy
And if you say,
“Hey, go away,” I will, but I think better still
I’d better stay around and love you.
Do you think I have a case?
Let me ask you to your face:
Do you think you love me?

And we see an image of Barack Obama right after that, comes quickly at the beginning of the ad. You remember that, right? Do you remember any other startling images right there at the beginning? All right. There is an image right there in that very beginning of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and there is an image of the Washington Monument. Look at the beginning of that ad again. And you tell me why those two phallic symbols are placed there. Pow, right at the very beginning of that ad. You tell me.”

President Bush has come out in favor of amending the United States Constitution to make marriage legally defined as only between one man and one woman. This would ban gay and lesbian couples from marrying and quite possibly could do away with civil unions and partner benefits.

What exactly does the amendment say? The first version of the proposed amendment submitted by Representative Marilyn Musgrave of Colorado reads as follows:

“Marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman. Neither this Constitution or the constitution of any state, nor state or federal law, shall be construed to require that marital status or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon unmarried couples or groups.”

A new version was released in March 2004, that supporters say would leave the room open for states to recognize civil unions. The revised text reads as follows:

Marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman. Neither this Constitution, nor the Constitution of any State, shall be construed to require that marriage or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon any union other than the union of a man and a woman.

“Leave him be to revel in his past. He’s not worth the time.”

Oh I learned that a long time ago. That comment was for my own amusement, not any attempt to pull him from the hammerlock that insanity has him in.

mike,

“The fact that Jay is willing to make such low accusations without any evidence demonstrates that he is no different than Beck, Limbaugh or any of the other stokers of partisan hatred and destroyers of civil discourse.”

Have you watched Outrage yet?

I prefer the people of the United States make the decision to “lop” off Maine from the Mainland like a moldy piece of wedding cake at a gay commitment ceremony.

PS…I hope Obamas new love of Crist doesnt upset Michelle to badly.

Sorry TaxCheat, I post only under one name, and it is my real one. Shame we can’t say the same for you.

I’m also not seeing very many references to “the 17%-ers” this day. Maybe because it is never about party labels but about beliefs when people go to the polls. Maybe because in the real world, it is about conservatives, moderates and liberals, not party affiliations that matter.

You libs got handed your heads yesterday by the moderates and the conservatives, and you should be more worried about that than whether Bookman thinks Crist is gay or not.

Of course, except for AmWet, who hates everything and everybody (except the kook Ralph Nader), you libs are the only ones swooning over Hope & Change. The moderates and conservatives? No so much.

“The rumors are well know in Tallahassee and thanks to the Tribece film festival, they are well known through out the country as well.”

That’s great, but it also seems to be common knowledge among the liberals here but was not known by the conservatives here. I guess conservatives and conservative outlets are less concerned about the issue than liberals are.

I guess the “gay campaign” that Jay is imagining would not have been that successful as conservatives never would have gotten the innuendo. But, as the innuendo is only a product of Jay’s fevered imagination, the point is moot.

“Yeah, but the rumors never swirled around to me and @@.”

Someone had to explain who Miley Cyrus was to me the other day…we can’t know everything.

Anybody who hasn’t read the rumors that Crist is gay has been living in a political cave. They have been all over the Internet for months, including allegations that his relatively recent marriage is a Hollywood-style cover-up. Jay Bookman requires no defense from me, but I’m surprised that some bloggers here are reacting as though the rumors are something brand-new, put forth by liberals to discredit Crist. In fact, the people apparently most anxious to spread the rumors are the conservatives who are unhappy with Crist’s likely obtaining the nomination for the Florida Senate seat. You see, Crist is one of those (shudder) moderate Republicans.

Well, I can see that it might be a more compelling local story. The fact is that it appears that only liberal pundits and liberal outlets have jumped on it after that, as conservatives here seem to be pretty unaware of it and liberals here seem to have known about it for a while.

So it seems “our” conservatives don’t know what many other conservatives know……

Is that unusual?

Forgot about another leftists’ contribution during the presidential campaign.

Rudy Giuliani. Every conservative on this board would have gladly voted for Rudy had he been the Republican nominee. Even before the primaries though, liberals kept posting their pictures of Rudy in drag to discredit him.

I suppose this website is not a joke. If I’ve been punked, oh well.

Anyway, this guy’s Baptist church is one of those “liberal” outfits who are obsessed with Crist’s homersexuality. See also this information page, linked from his “hot topics”, wherein we learn that…

Enough information has surfaced to make it highly likely that he may be [gay]. If he is not, he certainly, in my opinion, does not do much to repudiate the accusation once and for all. Certainly, if I were charged with such a claim, I would repudiate it vehemently and provide all manner of evidence to back the truth. Governor Crist has not done this, or anything close to it, to my knowledge.

For example, when I first heard the rumored possibilities that our newly elected Governor may be a homosexual, I had a personal conversation with a high ranking official in the Governor’s Office whom I have known for over 35 years. This person, in defense of the Governor said, “that is none of your business, his personal sex life should be private.” Well, yes…except that he IS THE GOVERNOR and if his sex life is homosexual in nature…it raises all kinds of policy, health and morality issues…because he is now the Governor, it IS MY BUSINESS! And…If he was NOT A HOMOSEXUAL – why not just simply say, “no, he is not, that is simply a vicious rumor.” There simply is not a vehement repudiation of this claim coming from the Governor’s Office…when by all rights, there SHOULD BE, if he indeed is not a homosexual.

Why does this matter now, you might ask? Apparently Charlie Crist has other political ambitions that may indeed, one day land him in or near the White House. Florida and national voters – and especially Christian voters need to know what the possibilities are.

“He’s not worth the time.”

I guess that all depends on your purpose for coming to the blog. I’ve gotten a lot out of my interactions with AmVet, regardless of any differences in political outlook.

Curious –

“Anybody who hasn’t read the rumors that Crist is gay has been living in a political cave. They have been all over the Internet for months, including allegations that his relatively recent marriage is a Hollywood-style cover-up.”

What national news outlets or non-partisan sites have made such allegations?

“Jay Bookman requires no defense from me, but I’m surprised that some bloggers here are reacting as though the rumors are something brand-new, put forth by liberals to discredit Crist.”

No you are not reading closely. People are reacting to Bookman’s absurd claim that the photo was put forward to highlight these rumors. It is Bookman who is actually pushing rumors to discredit conservatives.

” In fact, the people apparently most anxious to spread the rumors are the conservatives who are unhappy with Crist’s likely obtaining the nomination for the Florida Senate seat.”

Any evidence of this? Sounds like you are making the same baseless allegation that Bookman is. He is unable to back up his silly claim. Can you back up yours?

Frankly, the only people I see making an issue out of Crist’s sexual orientation are liberals.
