personally, i think that an Italian court investigating a terrorist grabbing and consequently convicting Americans because they tortured him, allegedly, is absurd. if anything, they should thank us. so what if he was tortured? hes a f---ing terrorist, regardless of what he or the Italian government claim, im glad that the CIA finally did something useful...for once.

Actually, it’s not that complicated at all. Insurance companies serve little purpose beyond acting as a clearinghouse for medical charges. They don’t create the charges, they administer them.

That sounds like justification for eliminating insurance companies. After all, they don't add any more value than a data entry person does. Too bad they don't skim off any more than that.

kinda makes you glad she wasn't in office in the 1970s ...

she sould have introduced the "I like a little lead in my paint Freedom of Choice Act" along with the "Lead in our Gasoline, it's the American Way Act", and maybe the "Iron Eyes Cody can keep on crying, I'm tossing my McDonald's bag out the car window, anyway" Act ...

There has been a lot of talk about the elections of 2009 as a national referendum on the presidency of Barack Obama. But the real message voters sent Tuesday is that it's a lousy time to be a governor. And with 37 governorships up for grabs next year, this can have major implications for the political landscape and even future presidential candidates.

When the economy is good, state treasuries are flush and governors can cut taxes or adopt new programs without much difficulty. But when times are tough, governors are forced to present balanced budgets with spending cuts and tax increases. Clearly this hurt Jon Corzine in New Jersey and, to a lesser extent, Creigh Deeds in Virginia, who sought to follow two Democratic governors.

Opinions! It seems like everyone comes equipped with at least one these days.

As Tuesday's elections showed, support for limited government remains a mainstream position. Deficit-spending makes majorities angry. Leviathan's tentacles, its rules and regulations, infuriate most Americans. Big bureaucracies are as popular as swine flu. And far more people than not still just want to be left alone.

As it was, the Democrat, Bill Owens, publicly rejected the "public option" on health care and worked hard to present himself as a proponent of a sound fisc. -Quinn Hilyer, AmSpec

Rejected the public option? And won?

Great,

The anti-environmental Republiconned have raped, pillaged and plundered their way around the globe. They never met a forest (rain or otherwise) they wouldn't destroy to the last tree. A river, lake or ocean they wouldn't foul. A landfill they wouldn't build under neighborhoods and schools. A species they wouldn't eradicate.

They cheer for the corporatists as they pump 12,000,000,000 TONS of pollutants every year into the dumping ground called our atmosphere.

They care for nothing green, save pieces of paper with dead presidents on them.

And NOW these filthy people act as if they are the great stewards of humanity?

Who besides the conned believe this for a single moment?

And this weirdo and xenophobe, Bachmann and her toadies are a disgrace, even by neo-con standards.

Off to pay for more corporate welfare and both occupations...
