To be fair, they feel about republicans the way I feel about most so-called "liberals". Of course, I live in reality, but at least they're halfway there.

<a href="http://www.weeklystandard.com/weblogs/TWSFP/2009/11/kristol_why_pelosi_may_fail_1.asp" rel="nofollow"> Kristol on NY-23 implications for Dems:</a>

<i>"Obama won NY-23 last year by five points. So in an open seat race this year, a Democrat should have a good shot. Indeed, that's precisely why Obama plucked the popular Republican incumbent from the seat to be his Army secretary -- Rahm thought it was a likely pick-up. Then the task got easier for the Democrat, Bill Owens, thanks to the fiasco of the Scozzafava pick, with all the in-fighting among Republicans that followed, culminating in her dropping out and endorsing the Democrat. So, among other consequences, the de facto Republican candidate has only the Conservative line, with the confusion that may entail for some GOP-inclined voters, and there have been a number of absentee ballots already cast by Republcians for Scozzafava.

If, after all that, Hoffman still beats the Democrat in this Obama+5 district -- and if he does so precisely after running against Owens as a likely rubber-stamp vote for Pelosi on health care and other issues -- doesn't that send a shudder down the spine of all Democrats in competitive districts?

Here in America the people rule.

So, on Wednesday morning, don’t at least 40 Democrats march into the Speaker's office and tell her to pull the bill?"</i>

Simply put we need TERM LIMITS, we can not asssume the voting public will vote the idiots out. Just look at the last election, vast majority did not vote intelligently. they voted race they voted party, they voted for the first time in their lives and sadly we got it all wrong. I am a proud Republican and have strong conservative morals, that said, I would not get rid of all the Democrats, we have to have checks and balances. As we can all see theirs no one to keep the IDIOTS in check and they are ignoring the public and pushing their on interest whether we want it or not. As we prepare to go into an election year I incourage everyone to vote, but lets be intelligent, as the saying goes to much of anything is not good. We need to vote back in some checks and balances. Obviously we are going to have a Democratic president for three more years, so to counter and balance we need the Republican party to pick up some seats. I do pray that we are smart enough to do the right thing.
God bless America !

Jay, you can't complain about negative advertising. The only way you can promote the Democrats is by going negative against the Republican.

No matter what happens the Dems will be held accountable in 2010. If things are going well the Dems will retain power if things go bad they will lose power.

The problem for both parties is they need moderates. However, the Dem have the added problem of being in power and accountable so the Rep will get the protest vote just as the Dem did in 2006.

Keep attacking Rep if that makes you feel better but your greatest enemy is always yourself. That holds true for both parties.

I am curious as to what the definition of a moderate Republican is supposed to be? Can anyone provide a definition? I understand but I don't know if this is true that Ms. Scozzafava supported: union card check bill, abortion rights and gay marriage among other positions. I would suggest that she is more of a progressive rather than moderate. The fact that her husband is an executive with the AFL-CIO would tend to indicate that probably these positions were not far off base.

But it would be educational if Mr. Bookman would explain his definition of a moderate versus progressive versus conservative.

The McCain/Palin ticket in 2008 lost in every region of country and lost among every demographic except white Southerners, who went for McCain/Palin by 68 to 30 percent. Many of the same white Southerners who rant and rave on the AJC's political blogs every day. And yes, I'm talking about you Turd Ferguson, David Axelfraud and many others. You folks need to do your research and state facts, not spout diatribes and insult people for hours on end every day.

Interesting take on NY-23 by <a href="http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/general_state_surveys/new_york/what_ny_23_says_about_the_gop_and_its_voters" rel="nofollow">Rasmussen</a>.

<i>"In many ways, that (Conservative Party vs. Dem.) pairing reflects the reality of national match-ups more than the typical partisan competition. There are more conservatives than Democrats in America, and there are more Democrats than Republicans.

One reason for this is that while Republican voters overwhelmingly consider themselves conservative, only 56% of conservative voters consider themselves to be Republicans. In other words, nearly half of all conservatives nationwide reject the Republican Party label.

This means that Republicans looking to broaden their party’s outreach cannot ignore the need to attract a large number of conservative voters along with some political moderates. Of all the non-Republicans in the nation, 31% consider themselves at least somewhat conservative while 37% say they’re political moderates.

The sweet spot for Republicans are core issues that unify conservatives while dividing more moderate voters."</i>
