The young face of courage, The beautiful young man , with honesty, asking simple questions, as
might a ten year old who knew no better. Three Cheers for the likes of him. And a special Thanks to Italy for offering him asylum the next day, not weeks or months later but right away. The Italian's are famous for taking forever to decide anyting , and look at that. Vahidnia,
Take it and go where you can be free and do the best work for your country in a safe and secure environment. Go Vahidnia. Go.

Well Eisenhower said to expect America to need to be in a permanent state of war just before he left office when he was talking about the "Military Industrial Complex" the entire speech says that Americans should expect their leaders to start creating a permanent enemy to justify having a war continually going, when it would be just as appropriate to handle the problems using international police or something similar.

There's really little difference between Iran and Israel when it comes to this sort of public freedom of expression. In Israel every story run in the media has to be submitted to an arm of the military to make sure that it is "acceptable" to the government. There has been a "military emergency" law in effect in Israel for decades so two copies of every article or story have to be submitted, with forms filled out in triplicate for several different agencies, and eventually you might see an approval for your story.

Foreign correspondents who are located in Israel have to do even more to be allowed to FILE their stories with the wire services to their own newspapers or television networks. One American journalist is still in a coma from having a tear gas canister fired directly at his head while taking photographs.

There is a sort of double standard when it comes to looking at what Iran does, and not looking at what others do.

Taxpayer--actually, this signing was a most humbling experience given the nature of the book and its audience. Royalties? Oh, well, as you know, they really don't amount to much at the outset. A "rouge politician?" Not that much of a call for it on the left...As for the royalties on the ghost written...that depends on the terms of the contract. It's sort of a poker game. Depends on how much faith the ghost writer puts in the potential market value. You can be pretty sure that Palin's ghost writer went for a share of the profits.

I'm certain that book signings are quite the ego trip for some, eh josef. As for me, I was quite content with the royalties. Now, there's motivation to write something else. Perhaps something along the lines of a ghost-written piece of tripe for a rouge politician. By the way, who does collect the royalties in one of those ghost-writer scenarios. Do they split them.

Awww, Paul is now having his feelings hurt because I failed to make our mutually convoluted arrangement exclusive. You're hurt. Let me make it all better. Nah. You're hurt. That does make it all better.

PAUL--not to worry, have to be at a book burning, oops wait, that's a book signing, in just a little bit, so I'll have to leave it with you. Besides, you're much better at it than I am, me being so narrow-minded and tangental...!

Mrs. G--told Granddaddy (a tad on the Orthodox side) when I was having to learn the Law, that I was a free-thinker, he told me that was probably a good thing since I'd have a hard time finding any buyers for mine!

K'chak--Granny: If you want sugar and flour, bake a cake...

Taxpayer--
Didn't realize you were here. Sorry. I did not mean to imply that you were a fascist. Book burners come in all brands (or is that WITH all brands?) I would never try to insult you. I reserve my insults for people I despise and I not only don't despise you, I appreciate much of what you say and you've got a great sense of humor and can really turn a phrase from time to time. I will buy your scientist defense, but then, remember, I am a humanist so I don't quite see it in such terms.
