"AP IMPACT: Troops already outnumber Taliban 12-1"

BRUSSELS – There are already more than 100,000 international troops in Afghanistan working with 200,000 Afghan security forces and police. It adds up to a 12-1 numerical advantage over Taliban rebels, but it hasn't led to anything close to victory.

"It's impossible to regain the initiative by introducing more foreign forces, which will only breed more resentment and more recruits for the enemy," he said. "The Soviets tried the exact same thing in Afghanistan in the 1980s with disastrous results."

Most people responding to this article have a serious case of amnesia. I clearly remember Dumbya calling off the troops in the caves at Tora Bora. giving bin Laden and his minions hope to fight another day. Now several years later all of a sudden it's President Obama's fault. Funny, I have not heard one of these idiotic chicken haters say they would pick up a gun and go fight. Even their paper sack heros like the dope addict Limbaugh don't want any part of the Taliban. Heck, even Cheney, who found a way to weasel himself out of Vietnam can't seem to stomach himself the courage to go there. So, to all those chicken haters out there, if you're not going to go, SHUT THE HELL UP because you nothing to say, and besides, no one is listening to you idiots anyway!!

How about we just build some nuclear plants and get out entirely? How long would it take for the crazy ones to turn on each other once we're gone, two, maybe three minutes?

Throwing in the towel and bringing the troops home is not going to happen any time soon, because we cannot afford to let Afghanistan degenerate into a chaotic state where terrorists and extremists are free to operate with impunity. Pakistan will surely become a target when the time and conditions are right and the loss of that country along with Afghanistan will put us, allies, and friendly countries at peril forcing this country into a dangerous, weakened situation with few options. A workable military strategy must be integrated with a robust civil component to strengthen political, economic, and government institutions to create a functioning, credible government. We're failing on the latter part.
I don't believe this administration or any administration is willing to state that the US has no vital interests in this part of the world.

Al Gore and Hillary Clinton were probably two of the most prepared, ever. I normally don't advocate violence, but I wish he had just gone ahead and hit Bush when he got in his face during one of the debates.

Torn is an understatement. I don't envy Obama this decision. I think if he had been going to send even more troops he would have already indicated that, tho. He's looking for reasons not to, and the runoff election might be another one. If al Qaeda has left as has been indicated by some, then the focus needs to turn to Pakistan. As I've said many times before, get bin Laden and get out! With the 14 killed today, by their own contraptions no less, it only highlights the futility. The DEA has no business there, that's for sure.

George WBush, Obama, and wannabes such as Sarhra Palin and Al Gore- they attract the stupidest of stupid voters. The extremist on each side nominate bufoons, and America gets what it deserves.

It's interesting how Gov. Option and a few others are cooing about the public option touted by Reid in the the Senate. This is a long way from finalization and as always with Congressional bills, the gotcha's are in the details. BTW...80% of Americans are satisfied with their health care insurance plans. The Dem's who aren't complete ideologues will be treading gingerly because they know that their political futures could be on the line with a wrong vote move. Stand by for more on this...no done deal.
