Some home cookin’ by Tinsley Ellis for tonight’s travelin’ music

Atlanta’s own, bluesman Tinsley Ellis, plays the Variety in Little Five Points tonight. I’ve seen him there before and it’s a great show, a perfect fit of musician, venue and audience. I’m debating whether to go tonight, but browsing through the Tinsley “ouevre” on Youtube trying to make a selection, I just might have talked myself into it.

Dude’s the real thing, as this video shows you.

Poll: GOP’s Favorability At Its Worst In A Decade

A new CNN poll has some really bad news for the Republican Party, with their favorability number reaching its lowest in a decade.

Only 36% of people view the GOP favorably, with an outright majority of 54% viewing them unfavorably. By comparison, the Democratic Party is at 53% favorable to 41% unfavorable — hardly a good omen for the Republicans if they want to make significant gains in 2010.

The last time the GOP was this bad in CNN’s polling was in December 1998, in the heat of the impeachment battles, when they were at 31%-57%

“It’s a mistake,” said Rep. Jason Altmire, a moderate Democrat from western Pennsylvania. “I think it’s beneath the White House to get into a tit for tat with news organizations.”

“There’s no reason to gratuitously piss off all those companies,” added another Democrat, Rep. Jim Moran of Virginia. “The Chamber isn’t an opponent.”

President Obozo, mmm, mmmm, mmmmm, cheered the pay reductions as “an important step forward” and urged Congress to “continue moving forward on financial reform to help prevent the crisis we saw last fall from happening again.” The pay curbs are intended to feed the official political narrative that the bankers caused the entire crisis, and that cutting their future pay will prevent the next one. Only a politician could really believe this, or at least pretend to.-WSJ

What they should do is put the bankers in Times Square, hitch up a pully to remove their arms and legs, then decapitate them. Let’s push for that.

Tell, me, what of the minimum of 80,000 African C*nfederates who served under the Cross of St Andrew in defense of their homeland on invasion? And the flag currently flying over Georgia, the one based on the flag of the Richmond slavocracy is some great improvement? And as far as my
Unmentionable is concerned, the stars and stripes of the national union has waved over the continued genocide against his people, a genocide black, white, brown and yellow have profitted and continue to profit from…

But this is not the forum for such tonight…

With the implementaion of salary caps, is it at all possible that many of the bank baiouts were nothing more than a power grap by Washington, to gain as much control of the economy and its practices as possible?

Another point, one would assume that these banks need the best and brightes banking minds available to help them recover and thus prosper. Only problem as with any field or profession, the best don’t come cheap and the good won’t stay for less than the other guy can offer.

Ah, yes, Mad Harris’s type of country-

The Anhui Provincial High People’s Court rejected Tang Yanan’s appeal against the death penalty on 12 August. China’s Supreme People’s Court in Beijing, is reviewing his sentence. Tang Yanan could be executed within days if it upholds the sentence.

After what appears to have been an unfair trial the Bozhou City Intermediate People’s Court in Anhui province, convicted Tang Yanan on 11 December 2008, of “fraudulent raising of public funds”. According to the Chinese press, he and approximately 20 other co-defendants illegally obtained 970 million Yuan in public funds (approximately US$142 million) between 2004 and 2007.

Communism rocks!, right, Madman?

Yes, it’s been an amusement to me for a long time that Jesus was supposed to be “THE Son of God” and at the same time the Jewish Messiah because his NOT FATHER Joseph was descended from David. Shouldn’t it have been his MOTHER who was the descendent, since Joseph as not his father?
