DoD Announces Units For Afghanistan Rotations And Deployment
The Department of Defense announced today major units scheduled to deploy as part of upcoming rotations of forces operating in Afghanistan. The announcement involves two active duty brigade combat teams totaling 7,700 personnel, and one National Guard brigade with approximately 3,500 personnel. The scheduled rotation for these forces will begin in the spring of 2010.
Specific units receiving deployment orders include:
1st Brigade Combat Team (BCT), 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Ky.
2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment (SCR), Vilseck, Germany
2nd Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division, Iowa National Guard
The spring/summer rotation of the 1st BCT, 101st Airborne Division (3,700 personnel) and the 2nd SCR (4,000 personnel) continues the U.S. commitment to maintain the current level of forces assigned to the NATO-International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).
The 2nd BCT, 34th Infantry Division will begin deploying in the fall of 2010 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom to continue ongoing operations and training of the Afghan National Security Forces. They are receiving alert orders now in order to provide them the maximum time to complete their preparations. It also provides a greater measure of predictability for family members and flexibility for employers to plan for military service of their employees.
Additionally, the secretary of defense approved a request by the commander of U.S. Forces-Afghanistan to deploy a squadron of MV-22 Ospreys from Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron-261, Jacksonville, N.C., to support the needs of forces on the ground in Regional Command-South. This deployment will involve approximately 200 Marines, who will begin deploying in November 2009.
In consultation with Afghan officials and NATO, commanders continue to assess the situation to ensure sufficient force levels to best support the Government of Afghanistan, perform counter-terrorism operations, assist with reconstruction, and train and equip the Afghan national security forces. Afghan security forces continue to develop capability, and this U.S. force rotation may be tailored based upon changes in the security situation.
DoD will continue to announce major unit deployments as units are identified and alerted. For information on the active brigade and regiment announced today, please contact Army Public Affairs at (703) 614-2487. For information on the National Guard brigade, please contact Iowa National Guard Public Affairs at (515) 252-4304. For information on the Marine squadron, please contact U.S. Marine Corps Forces Command Public Affairs at (757) 836-1580.

How could the white man have invented musical instruments? When did the first populations inhabit Africa? If the mythical Adam and Eve in the mythical Bible had existed, what guarantees they were white?
Was Fred Flintstone or Barny Rubble black or white?
Meanwhile, the Supremes granted cert. to the Gitmo detainee case Kiyemba, et al., v. Obama, et al. (08-1234) where Chinese Uighurs who are law abiding peaceful people who have never thought of taking action against the US or broken any laws are being held at Gitmo by the law breaking USA who is terrorizing them and their families and continues to do so for years.
They were ordered freed by the D.C. District Court. The D.C. Circuit which has 17 Bush appointees out of 21 judges ordered them held for no reason. My only sincere regret is that we do not jail the 3 judge panel in the D.C. Circuit in solitary like the Ughers for the rest of their lives. That would be justice.
Insurance hooker Baucus conceded this morning that the public option is out of the ICU; the ET tube is out, and IVs are being DC’d. It’s only a question now of what kind of public option will be law when you hang up those Christmas stockings or spin that dredle.

Hamid Karzi accepts runoff. What needs to be runoff are American troops in Afghanistan and Iraq–spend the money on health care. We don’t need to do nation building. We need to have forces concentrated to aggressively attack Al Quaeda and the Taliban who are a threat in Afthanistan and Pakistan. And that statement is easy to type; hard to do. Taliban and AQ blend in and out of the normal population in seconds. They ain’t wearin’ Ga. Florida uniforms.

If rappers actually worked 12 months of the year, with the customary two weeks vacation, then they would currently be paid exactly what they are worth. But they only work ~9 months of the year, with a week off for Fall break, a week off for Spring break, two weeks off for Christmas, and who knows how much for Thanksgiving and other State and Federal Holidays.
I say make rappers work a 12 month year like everyone else, and make sure they include a warning that evolution is just a theory.

TnGelding,
You might also want to mention that Pakistan has sent 28,000 troops to Wazinstan to fight the Taliban and foreign terrorists who have joined them. It is a new offensive.
Sounds like Pakistan is now doing their part in this war against terrorism. That will most surely help our troops in Afghanistan. I don’t believe that Pakistan has any retrictions on fighting as do American troops. You know. The McChrystal factor of not shooting anyone when civilians are around. The Pakis are fighting NOW, not waiting for their country to be overun by the Taliban.

I’d be far more interested in your opinion on Obama’s soldiers (Axelrod & Emmanuel) telling “the other media” how they should run their news organizations.
Given the fact that you “aren’t in the habit of having others tell you how to run your blog” and all.
Come out, come out….wherever you are.
My opinion? Another HUGE strategical error — a bootie hootie I hope they do not change.

First Obama said that Sotomayor should have chosen here words more carefully, and now his staff is picking out her clothes??!??
Meyer recalled that Sotomayor grew teary at moments when discussing the nomination process, but kept the crowd laughing. Sotomayor even explained that she’d gone shopping for clothes to wear to her acceptance ceremony, but government officials instead told her to bring five suits, one of which they would recommend for her to wear, Meyer said.
Excuse me, but do they (either party) tell men what to wear?

Looks like the White House strategy of identifying Fox News as Republican is taking hold. However, the latest Pew Research with which I’m familiar notes Fox News viewership as 39% Republican, 33% Democratic and 22% Independent (compared with CNN: 18% Republican, 51% Democratic, 23% Independent and MSNBC: 18% Republican, 45% Democratic, 27% Independent).
http://people-press.org/reports/pdf/444.pdf
I expect the rebuttals to be numerous. Amazing, isn’t it, how prejudice and false assumptions are justified in politics but not in matters of race and gender? Or how in race and gender data refutes bias, but not in political characterizations?
@@ 1:18
I like the Fox News commentary (notice the backdrop with the word “Commentary”?) that the CNN and other execs must be a tad embarrassed about being patted on the head and being told they’re the ‘good’ networks (after they’re already criticized by many for seeming to be in the tank for the Administration) and to not follow those nasty stories unearthed by that nonnews Fox group.

I like Gates, but he stepped on it with this statement:
U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Oct. 20 the United States and its allies must work with the Afghan government that wins the disputed election, Voice of America reported. Gates said it would have been easier if the election was clear-cut and conducted without irregularities, but added that the United States must work with the situation at hand. He said that the United States must work with whatever government emerges to build legitimacy and tackle corruption.
If it’s either/or, then why is Obama allowed to sit with his thumb up his assets?

Amazing that officers of that level are ignorant of what their Commander in Chief has to say. Maybe they were some rear echelon types who aren’t going to deploy so they just do their 0730-1630 jobs and don’t worry about that other stuff?

He is in charge of training us to deploy.
Maybe, thats why it is important to focus on what our individual taks and company level missions are. Perhaps, then we will be able to see how it is applied to the larger effort. Who knows.
