One problem with MRI's is that they give more information than doctors can interpret and they also result in so many false positives that a huge number of totally unnecessary surgeries are performed, either to remove tumors, or exploratory surgeries that end up showing that there was absolutely nothing wrong. Most doctors now blame the overuse of MRI's for the exploding cost of medicine in the United States. The idea of starting at the lowest level of diagnostic tool and moving up to more complex and expensive ones has been eliminated in the United States with patients demanding MRI's for conditions that MRI's are basically useless for.

One of the major arguments about the Canadian system is the "lack of MRI machines" from Canadians who demand them and come to the United States to pay to get them. What is rarely revealed is how many of those MRI's Canadians come to the U.S. to get end up being completely wastes of money or end up finding nothing different than the less expensive diagnostic procedures discovered.

You get the same result from watching American action movies that create a high tension in the moviegoer. You know the kind of movie where you find yourself gripping the edge of the seats as both the things happening on the screen and the mood music start manipulating your emotions. It doesnt matter if you are watching Terminator or Titanic, the net effect on the brain is the same. Unusually they don't find the same results in the standard artsy European flick which revolves more around having to think about what is happening in the movie, rather than be emotionally dragged around by it.

"What lie did VP Cheney keep repeating? (OMG, I hope it’s not “Iraq was involved in 9-11. Tell me it isn’t so…)."

It is a key lie. Without evidence or proof of either this, or actual existence of WMD's both Bush and Cheney are legally war criminals under a good many international laws and treaties, many of which the United States government is signatory and has ratified. In this case, those treaties become American law, and if an international court were to find either Bush or Cheney guilty of having deliberately falsified information to invade Iraq, the United States government, as well as every judge in the country, would be obligated, constitutionally, to hand them over for trial.

the famous web site to expose Fox lies

See, I am not aware of the white house making that their mission. If you want a “famous” site devoted to such things, mediamatters is kind of the gold standard, although crooks and liars, fairness and accuracy in reporting (fair.org), the daily howler, and (to a lesser extent) eschaton and digbysblog have been working that side of the street for quite awhile as well.

I did a search on White House web site to expose Fox Lies and the first hit - the site I linked - came up with whitehouse.gov.

It that's not the famous web site to expose Fox lies I'd appreciate it if someone could provide a link.

- Paul -

Glad to see there is another fan of "V" out there - but
the only REAL series is the one that started in 1983.
The new one on ABC should go down in flames. The
online preview clips say it all - THEY HAVE A BIG-
SCREEN T.V. ON THE BOTTOM OF THE SHIP !!!

It is timely however, to have a series like that re-imagined
considering all that is happening in the news of late. Hidden
agendas, control of what the news media reports, etc.
This goes out to all the resistance fighters all around the
world (mobilizing against the fringe right, of course).

Bob from Dahlonega (no shout out) and Donovan have the
same problem as the Heenes. Real scientists and inventors
don't need any help from these wack jobs. Their purpose
in life consists of one single goal - the endless promotion
of SELF. Even though they have nothing tangible to offer
society except for a diatribe about what they think "liberals"
or "Obamamaniacs" are doing to them or taking from them,
the truth is they are part of a growing trend of what I call
"ultrasubjectives". In other words, if their neighbor's house
goes up in flames (or is flooded), so what, but if MY house
is destroyed, it's the end of the world. The media is here for
MY VIEWPOINT ONLY, and if anybody has a different view,
let's shout them down and refer to them in the worst possible
example of a human being (evildoers and dictators).

As far as the Heenes are concerned, the whole stunt was wrapped
around what the DAD wanted. The family was just along for the ride,
as well as the Sherriff's Dept., airport personnel, National Guard, etc.
It wasn't apparent while the balloon was airborne that anything was
inside, but as soon as the home video was shown, it was obvious
that bag could not lift 37 lbs. Reminds me of the incident a few years
ago in Boston with the LED displays everyone thought were set up
by terrorists and the 911 emergency operator in Atlanta who sent
help to the wrong address. Ridiculous, to be sure, but with a nation
of folk who are only concerned about their own opinion, we all can
expect more of the same.
