H.L. Mencken once observed that nobody ever went wrong underestimating the intelligence of the American people.
H.L. Mencken never met John Oxendine. And he certainly never saw this video just released by Oxendine’s campaign for governor.

After seeing this I’m convinced that Oxendine is the perfect GOP candidate for Governor of Georgia: petty and mean-spirited.

Well, Jay, I think he has the content down pat but my major concern is with the length. I think he should break it into four separate ads while incorporating the Reagan image into each. And, the art work is great, well within the grasp of any true conservative’s budget. That should do it.

Jay, don’t be so sure that Georgians are too smart to fall for this. Wasn’t it governor Perdoofus who created the “King Rat” theme? And didn’t it work?

The piece employs “rat” as a metaphor for Barnes and “ox” as a metaphor for Oxendine. I use “bs” as a metaphor for that commercial. Why can’t we get good conservatives like Palin, Liz Cheney, Jindahl, Michelle Bachman, or Ralph Reed to run for office?

That is definitely a more succinct summary of the video. As a matter of fact, I wonder if he’s considered using one of those placemats. I’ll have to pass that on.

Oxendine’s middle-school-aged relative created this cheezy video in a pirated copy of Flash.
Ergo, Oxendine is promoting the Gay Agenda. To middle-school-age children. Dressed as a pirate.

King Roy the Rat underestimated the beloved nature of our 1956 flag. He learned you can piss off a majority of the people some of the time, but don’t count on re-election. I predict many house and senate dems and one narcissistic kenyan will learn the lesson soon.

2009 Campaign finance controversy
In May 2009, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Oxendine had received over $120,000, or eight percent of his total campaign contributions received,[23] in campaign contributions from 10 different political action committees in Alabama.[24] The newspaper reported all ten PACs donated to Oxendine the maximum contribution allowed by law;[25] that the PACs all had similar addresses and the same chairperson, the son of lawyer and businessman Donald V. Watkins; and that the money originated from two insurance companies based in Georgia, while state law prohibits companies from giving money to the campaigns of elected officials who regulate them.[23]
“It’s not like an oversight or I didn’t know what the law was,” Oxendine said. “We received it from completely different sources, and they are not common.” He added later, “I don’t want you to think we had the intent of doing anything inappropriate.”[26]
Once the suspiciousness was realized and brought to Oxendine’s attention, Oxendine immediately returned the funds to their donor awaiting a legal opinion.[27][28]

It was in today’s paper – the guy executed for torching his house and killing his kids – his wife said her ex confessed to her in prison.
Be that as it may, it still does not excuse the conduct of the governor (for the rest of you, guy was convicted on testimony of some arson experts. A state board was looking into ‘expert testimony’ and was about to hold a hearing demonstrating the ‘experts’ who gave the ‘conclusions’ of ‘fact’ that led to the conviction were out to lunch. Just before the hearings the gov replaced most of the board. No hearings).
The gov was a cheerleader/yell leader in college. Sen Hutchison was a cheer leader. Kinky’s been having a good time weaving that into his evaluations -
