We saw these guys at Center Stage this week; they put on a great show. Frontman John Popper is a hard-working, talented man, and the weight problem that dogged him for years seems to be under control. And he does play a very mean mouth harp.

AmVet LOVE the Marvin Gaye shout out!!! Here’s my pick for the blue Friday. This lady knew her share of blues and even though I’m not her #1 fan, (my mother and grandfather are), I like some of her stuff……

I heard this blues song the other night on one of those cop shows. Loved it so much I had to find out who sung it. He’s featured here with the incomparable Five BLind Boys of Alabama.

DDR, may years go when I lived in England, the “birds” there just loved him! And man did we groove together…
Thanks in part to you, I’ve only recently discovered Etta James. What a talent!
When I was really young and just finding out about love I went absolutely crazy over the early black girl bands.
Gawd I could play this stuff all night…

You and my auntie Xia would get along really well!! She said the only reason she even started talking to my uncle was because he was a big “girl group” fan!! Of course, my favorite Girl Group is not from the fabulous era of girl groups, mine is from the fabulous era of Rap!!! Salt n Pepa, EnVouge and TLC!!!

Nice.
Off topic but I see in the paper that a pirate museum is being considered for Atlanta. Well shiver me timbers. Somehow I just don’t think of pirates when I think of Atlanta, except for that crowd that meets for 40 days every winter under the gold dome.
Granted the Pirates do come to town a couple of times each summer and the Buccaneers once each fall, but they play half of their games in Pittsburg and Tampa, respectively.
Oh well I guess a pirate museum has to be somewhere, why not Atlanta with its seafaring roots.
You know where Pirates prefer to have lunch? – Arrrrrrby’s

Heard Topper & Crew on the radio today doing “Run Around” driving through torrential rain on my way to the South Georgia Coast to pick up 100 pounds of the best food the Good Lord ever put on earth, the Georgia white shrimp. I helped the shrimp boat captain unload them with the rain coming down and the Sea-Otters in the water chattering wanting scraps of fish. Blues Travelers helped me get there and life is good in South Georgia. There is going be one bad mama-jama of a country boil tonight!

Karen Handel singing the blues with the ATL Housewives soon to be on an Itunes or You Tube near you.
After wasting thens of thousands more of your tax dollars after wasting hundreds of thousands of your tax dollars, Handel has been shot down in her appeal to try to disenfranchise voters in Georgia.
Handel now plans to spend a million of your tax dollars by suing that mean ole Dept of Justice that shot down her whackjob screening process which included crossing off voters who had every written their name differently on a drivers license or other state document–perhaps with a middle name or initial.
Repubos will waste your tax money out the wazoo.

GODD, lay off of the pharmaceuticals because your post up there is pretty much drivel and it does not keep with what Jay is trying to do with these Friday afternoon excursions. He wants people to let go of their political paranoia for at least one afternoon but apparently that doesn’t work with you, does it? Bet the DEA and the drug inspectors have to keep a close watch on you, don’t they “Doctor”? Doctor indeed.

Ah yes, the prototypical liberal ‘lovefest’, all you clowns trying to outdo each other to see who can be the, well, you know…….
You don’t ever kick off a weekend with blues unless you’re a cracker chasin’ fool.
Blues were meant to be that Sunday evening, the-weekend-is-over, I just buried my sister’s dog, I hope I still have a job when I get to work tomorrow, music.
This is the way to kick off a cool fall weekend.
